Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Girl Who Never Expected Magic

Sophie had never believed in magic. Not the kind that makes dreams come true, not the kind that changes your life in an instant. Her days were predictable through waking up, going to work, scrolling through her phone, going to sleep looking ordinary, safe and boring.

That morning, the sunlight fell softly through her window, painting the room in shades of gold. She yawned, stretched and glanced at the mirror. Her reflection looked tired, but there was something else like an unfamiliar tingling in the air, almost like a whisper brushing past her skin.

"I'm sure it's Just my imagination," she muttered.

She decided to go for her usual walk in the park, a habit she kept to clear her mind. The streets were quiet, the trees swaying lazily and everything felt… normal. Yet, as she rounded the corner near the fountain, she felt a presence with a subtle shift in the air that made her heart skip.

He was standing there.

Not like anyone she had ever seen before. He had an air of calm, but there was something strange, almost magical about him. His eyes seemed to shimmer, not with color, but with light, as if they held secrets that the world had forgotten.

Sophie stopped. Words failed her.

"Hi," he said softly, his voice smooth, like music floating on a summer breeze.

"Uh… hi," she managed, her usual confidence gone.

He smiled. Not the polite, normal kind of smile, but one that made her feel seen, like he knew her in a way no one else ever had.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," he said. "You just… caught my attention."

Sophie's heart raced. She wasn't usually the type to be flustered, but there was something in the way he looked at her that made it impossible to think clearly.

"I… it's okay," she stammered, glancing away to hide the sudden warmth creeping up her cheeks.

They talked for a few minutes, small things about the weather, the park, a stray cat lounging nearby but every word felt heavy with meaning, like there was an unspoken connection threading through their conversation.

Then, just as quickly as he appeared, he was gone, disappearing into the crowd. Sophie blinked, heart pounding.

Was it magic? She laughed at herself. Of course not. Magic didn't exist.

But a part of her couldn't shake the feeling that something extraordinary had just touched her life. Something beyond explanation.

The next few days were strange. She kept catching glimpses of him sometimes in the corner of her eye, sometimes in the reflection of a shop window. Always distant, always watching, always just out of reach.

And every time she saw him, her heart fluttered like a bird trapped in her chest.

She didn't know who he was, or why he had appeared. All she knew was that the world seemed brighter when he was near.

Sophie had never believed in magic, but maybe magic didn't have to be about spells or enchantments. Maybe it was something simpler… something that could sneak into your life, quietly, and change everything.

And maybe, just maybe she was about to fall into a story far more beautiful than she ever imagined.
