Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

We entered the forest along that dirt road.

Surprisingly enough, the forest seemed quite peaceful.

Even so, from time to time I used my magical perception to monitor the nearby surroundings.

"Lyon, I told you, there are no dangers," she said.

Liris seemed to want a eulogy, and seeing how mysterious she is, it's better not to be too cold.

"Yes, Liris, you were right, you are the best"

She nodded happily and laughed subtly.

I concentrate on the road again. This way I avoid thinking about unnecessary things, especially while I'm alone in this forest with Liris.

I don't want my peaceful life in a remote area to be reduced to a rudimentary cabin and then four walls.

No better, don't think about it. Mind, think of magical symbols.

I try to review some magical concepts of intermediate magic as a way to keep my mind distracted from the allied threat.

I hope I'm wrong, and that she is a kind person.

After advancing for a few hours, I tie the horse to a sturdy looking tree around which there is enough grass for the horse to feed.

I also take out a container from my bag which I fill with water so that the horse can hydrate.

...

Apparently in this world, it is customary to eat for breakfast and dinner, and commoners only eat once a day.

I say this because when I was at the Cicister mansion, it was only for a very short time (two days), but they only had breakfast and dinner.

"Lyon, there are still sandwiches left. Do you want one?" she asked me.

In storage devices, food is preserved for a longer time.

I can't explain the principle behind food preservation yet, maybe in the future.

"Thank you," I took the sandwich and didn't hesitate to eat.

As I said before, have breakfast and dinner, while I eat the sandwich I look at the sky and see that it is getting late.

"Lyon, I think you should sleep, you haven't slept and you look tired," she said, looking worried.

But as a Level 2 mana heart user, I think I can last for almost three days...

Eh?

Why am I suddenly sleepy?

I try to circulate the mana but in the end the sudden shivering sensation I felt motivated me to give in to the sleepy sensation.

...

The ground shook a little.

I felt traces of magic and a slight smell of blood.

Thank heavens it wasn't my blood.

My head was resting on a pillow, there was a campfire nearby.

Apparently it was already night.

From the position of the moon I could deduce that it was after midnight.

I hear light footsteps approaching.

I closed my eyes and pretended I was still sleeping.

A soft hand strokes my hair.

Apparently it's Liris, she moves the pillow and rests my head on her legs.

I don't know what she did, but I smell a faint smell of blood coming from her, so it's better not to find out.

"My Lyon, my Lyon. Sleep as much as you want, nothing and no one will bother you, my Lyon"

What madness.

How long am I supposed to sleep?

I better pretend to wake up when the sun has risen.

...

The sun came out.

I opened my eyes.

He was still in Liris's comfortable lap.

"Lyon, you slept well"

"Eh? Yes, I slept well, apparently I was more tired than I imagined"

I sat down, I was on a tablecloth.

She stood up and I watched as she began to prepare breakfast.

She took out a metal pot and put it on the fire. I preferred not to ask her how she knew how to do all that.

I feel like I'm walking on a bridge that's about to collapse.

She places evidently fresh meat in the pot.

An hour later, we both had a delicious and nutritious breakfast.

In addition to magic, I will learn a little about herbs and potions, I don't want the same thing from the night before to happen to me again.

"The food was delicious, thank you"

"For Lyon the best"

ha ha ha, not whether to laugh or cry.

Can I be more pathetic?

I stand up, untie the horse.

"Liris, let's continue, so we can get out of this forest"

"Alright"

She got on the horse and we continued moving along that dirt road.

More than an hour later, the environment had changed a little.

There were fewer trees and uneven terrain.

Around noon we saw a small caravan of merchants traveling in the same direction as us.

In their group there was a mage with a Level 3 mana heart and two warriors with a Level 2 Strength core.

I approached the caravan to say hello.

I also reached out to Mousert.

Mousert was a thin old man with a white beard who wore simple white clothes. He was the owner of the caravan.

"Boy, are you traveling or going to some Academy?"

"I'm traveling, to get to know a little"

"That's good, it's good to broaden perspectives"

After exchanging a few words, I bought some food, drinks, and most importantly, a map of the Kingdom.

"Are we going to stay with them?" Liria asked me, somewhat disappointed.

"Yes, it's the best, the forest can be dangerous, so even though everything has gone well, we should not trust ourselves"

I tried to give a logical answer so she wouldn't worry too much.

After last night, I think she's capable of taking down those two warriors and that wizard, but it doesn't seem like she's too reckless either.

On second thought. Why is she so strong?

She looks my age.

I should definitely focus on the study of intermediate magic and herbs and potions.

That's what I need to live a peaceful life in the future.

Night came and three bonfires were lit around the caravan.

At that moment, a beautiful young woman with bright brown hair, blue eyes and white skin, dressed in a white and light blue silk dress, emerged from one of the tents in the caravan.

"Grandpa," she hugged Mr. Mousert.

As at that time, I was sitting nearby, she looked at my face curiously.

Curse.

I just felt another chill run down my spine.
