NARRATOR
Alpha Walked away, fuming in anger. She spat the dirty cloth out of her mouth soon. Zenobia looked around and found all the prisoners looking at her. "What? Mind your own business." Zenobia yelled at all the prisoners. She turned around and was about to walk towards the bed inside the dungeon cell when suddenly she froze. It was the sounds of the prisoners clapping and cheering for her that made her freeze in her place. She looked around and saw that the prisoners were pretty happy to hear the way she stood up for herself. She has been a maid in that mansion since she was a young girl. But then again, she always knew how to stand up for herself. She never said anything because it was the former Alpha Mason who had bought her from that old woman.
Though, Zenobia couldn't remember much. She had no idea how she ended up with that woman. She sometimes dreamt about this same mansion. And she saw herself sleeping in the bedroom that belonged to Alpha Garrett now. She hadn't been out of that place. So she could ask people around if they might have known her parents. She couldn't remember their faces. But she remembered their voices and some of their wise lessons for Zenobia. She had no idea how she could still remember that. Because she was only four when she lost her parents. She also couldn't remember how she lost them. She never knew where her parents were buried. She had never visited their graves. The Alpha never let her leave the mansion.
Sighing at her pitiful life, she laid down on the bed. It was softer than the bed she had in her room. A smile appeared on her face. At least, she could sleep peacefully after all those years. Her bed was stiff and every morning she had to go through this terrible back ache and neck pain because of that stupid bed. The bed in the dungeon cell was so soft and warm. It didn't take her more than a few minutes to fall deep into a peaceful sleep.
She opened her eyes again after a little while and she gasped loudly. She saw a beautiful woman sitting on the edge of the bed. Zenobia sat up on the bed while staring at the face of that woman. She looked as if Zenobia might have gotten older. That woman had black hair while Zenobia's hair was red. That woman's eyes were green while Zenobia's eyes were red as well. Zenobia was going to be twenty soon while that woman looked to be in her late thirties.
Those were some few differences between the woman Zenobia saw in the dungeon cell and Zenobia. The woman had a sweet smile on her face as she was looking at Zenobia. She took her hand closer to Zenobia's face and gently stroked her cheek with her fingers. For some unknown reason, Zenobia was not scared at all. In fact, she felt safe and warm inside her chest. As if she knew that woman was not going to harm her at all.
"You have grown up so much, my baby girl. I never doubted for a second that you will not grow up to be the beautiful woman you are. But I never thought that you would beat me. You are more beautiful than I am." Zenobia's eyes filled with tears as she realised that the woman sitting in front of her was her mother. The woman wiped her tears and pecked her forehead lovingly. Zenobia couldn't believe that she was seeing the face of her mother in front of her. She knew she remembered nothing about her parents at all. It's just their voices that rang into her mind sometimes. Especially whenever she was in trouble.
The woman opened her arms and Zenobia jumped into her arms. The warmth that she remembered from her childhood, the arms that belonged to her mother, she felt the same comfort, the same warmth, the same emotions while she was hugging that woman. " I am so sorry, my baby. We left you unprotected like this. But we never really left you. We were always around to make sure that no one would ever hurt you. I am sorry that you had to live a hard life. We never wanted you to have a hard life. You were our pride. You were our princess." The woman cried while hugging Zenobia. While Zenobia was just happy to be with her mother after all this long. She just couldn't help but be happy at that moment.
Zenobia was one of the people who lived and enjoyed the present at the fullest. She never did anything in her past that would lead her to regret her past. She never once thought about her future. So she was never worried. Except for her mate. She always dreamt of having a mate who would take her away from that hellhole. The woman pulled away from Zenobia and cupped her face with both of her hands. "Everything's aside. Now listen to me, my baby. I want you to pay attention towards whatever I am going to tell you. And I want you to remember everything once you wake up. This is very important." The woman added in a serious tone while staring into Zenobia's eyes.
Zenobia's smile fell as she realised that it was just a dream. And once she would wake up again, everything would be as disastrous as it was before she went to sleep. "You will be given an opportunity soon. An opportunity to run away. This is the only chance you are going to get. I know this won't make any sense to you once you wake up. But I want you to remember my words. Once you are given a chance, I want you to run. I want you to run towards the city. And I want you to run as fast as you can." The woman sternly told Zenobia to leave everything and run.
Zenobia was blinking her eyes while trying to process everything. She had no idea why she never tried to run away. While actually her life had given her chances more than once. "Keep my words in your mind, Zenny. If you still didn't run away, you will become something you have hated all your life. This is what they do to innocent people like you. They turn them into something they hated the most. You will hate yourself forever. So don't think when the help arrives for you once again. Just run without looking back at this hellhole. Got it?" Zenobia gulped hard as she heard the woman almost yelling at her. She nodded her head while staring at the woman. She had no idea what that woman was talking about. But she understood what she was trying to warn her about. She knew that Alpha Garrett was soon going to try his tricks on Zenobia. And the last thing she wanted was to become something she hated all her life.
