Chapter 1 - MARK OF REINCARNATION

The Prologue: The Weight of the Past

In the quiet nurseries of Alfea, Princess Elara was a child of sunlight, yet she carried a shadow. The mark on her shoulder was not a birthmark of skin and pigment; it was a shifting, violet etching that seemed to breathe. As she grew, the mark branched out like a vine, its thorns inching toward her throat.

King Marcus watched his daughter with a love that was shadowed by dread. He summoned the High Seers, men who lived in silence and spoke only to the stars, but even they could not name the sigil. They left the palace with their heads bowed, muttering of "debts unpaid" and "circles closing."

Desperation led the King to the Grave-Archives, a place where the history of Alfea went to die. There, buried under layers of dust and the smell of ancient parchment, he found a mural hidden behind a false wall.

The mural depicted the first King of Alfea, centuries dead, kneeling before a figure whose face had been chiseled away by time. But the mark on the figure's chest was unmistakable. It was the same violet vine that now pulsed on his daughter's skin.

The text beneath was a warning, a story of a Great Betrayal that had founded the kingdom. The Mark wasn't a sign of royalty; it was a contract. The soul of the betrayed was coming back to reclaim the throne that had been built on its bones.

Marcus stood in the dark, the torchlight flickering. He realized then that his daughter wasn't a gift to his lineage—she was the repayment.
