Meanwhile, Naia's party was heading straight to the base with minimal detours. The only detour was when they passed by a farm, filling up her space with new orchards, new animals, and so on.
They had to be subtle because there were still people there, so Naia only stole a small portion of the animals and the edge parts of the orchards and vineyards.
During this time, various volcanoes started showing signs of eruption. For those near the volcanoes, this meant a lot of localized earthquakes and lava flows.
For the territories farther away, it was darkening skies. It was already darkened due to the ashes and other things created by the impact. Now, the simultaneous explosions of these volcanoes would add to it, expediting the mega storms and the cryogenic winter that would soon come.
All throughout their trip, the atmosphere was dreary. Even if there was no major damage in some areas, people's psyches definitely were.
