Chapter 19* the story of Lucy.
Kim Jo is seated on his bed with his headset on.
Lucy at the other side just came back from school and hurried to her bedroom. She took her bath and dressed up in pink printed short skirt and a black long sleeve turtle neck sweater . Her hair this time was packed in ponytail.
She slowly went downstairs to the kitchen to get a bottle of water and went upstairs to the boys room and knocked.
When she got no response she knocked again but still got the same thing so she just opened the door and walked in.
At that moment, Kim Jo raised his head and saw Lucy walking in looking so pretty.
Lucy smiled and he smiled back and watched quietly as she closed the door and slowly walked to the bed and sat beside him. Kim Jo removed his headset at once and set it aside.
" I didn't hear you knocking." He said staring at her face.
Lucy scoffed as she handed over the bottle water to him and said
" Can the deaf hear? You had the headset in your ears how do you expect to hear me knocking?"
"Kim Jo Chuckled and took the water from her and uncapped it and drank from it before setting it aside. " Thank you"
Lucy sighed tried starting a conversation with him
" Where did Sunny and June go?"
" They? Oh...well,they left to get something "
"Why didn't you go with them? Lucy asked staring down on her fingers.
Kim Jo smiled and tilted his head to the left and said.
" I don't want to leave you alone in the house. I want you to come home and find someone here, waiting for you."
Lucy heart fluttered when she heard that and smiled.
" Uh...well, since you had the headset on, do you mind telling me what song you were listening to? " Lucy asked still staring at her fingers.
Kim Jo Chuckled and said to her " it's a song. One of the BVS kings songs. Do you know them?" Kim Jo asked staring at her and waiting for her reaction.
Lucy, hearing the BVS kings suddenly raisyher head, smiling " of course I know them! Kim Jo, Lee Dae and Seo Joon? Come on...who doesn't know them. I was lucky to meet with Lee Dae and Seo Joon one time. They are lovely." She said looking excited about it.
"Hmm.." Kim Jo hummed watching her, studying her not saying anything until he asked a question " what about Kim Jo? Have you met him?"
Lucy sighed loudly and said to him " I haven't. He wasn't there when we went to the studio that day."
" Do you by any chance love them? The BVS kings" Kim Jo asked still watching her.
Lucy turned her face away from him to the void of emotion.
" I wouldn't dare fall in love with any of them".
Her response stunned Kim Jo. He wasn't expecting that answer. Many girls would have jumped to say yes but Lucy? That was shocking for him. Curiously he asked
" Why? Why do you not dare to love anyone?"
You see," Lucy begin " I don't think I am worthy of them. I am not their type of girl they want. You know,they are rich, and only their presence causes traffic. The boys are handsome and millions of girls go crazy when they saw them. Imagine being in love with one of them. How could he notice me? Why would he? I'm not rich, I'm not some legendary beauty and I don't have a high social status. So,I don't have to fight.
Like how can I fight over millions of girls over a guy who doesn't know if I exist or not? They need a lady with strong background who lives in wealth, power, beautiful and well known so it would be hard for her to reach out nor fight over him with some crazy fan girls." She said and stared at him straight in the eyes and added " So,I wouldn't dare fall in love with one of them. It's useless - a waste of time. It's a kind of thinking you can only daydream about". She said and chuckled.
Kim Jo was too stunned to speak. He had never thought of everything Lucy had said. He had never thought that there is a girl in the world who thinks like that. Who never throw themselves at famous idols. Lucy isn't just an ordinary girl. She is far different from what he thought and beyond his imagination and expectations. No wonder Lee Dae picked her. She has a heart of gold and too kind and innocent but intelligent and wise. She understands how the world works around high rank social idols. Kim Jo Chuckled and bowed his head in respect for Lucy.
" I have never seen a girl like you in my entire life of 25 years of living. You're different. So different from every other girls I have seen. I think that makes sense why you are so unique " he said smiling and feeling so proud of having Lucy as his girlfriend and bride-to-be.
But unexpectedly,the atmosphere changed. Lucy started to sob. When she raised her head up she was crying. She looked so sad which got Kim Jo worried. His protection mood triggered immediately. He wiped her tears with his hand and pat her head.
" I think...I think that was the same reason why my life is a mess. I think..i think that was the same reason he left me."
Kim Jo frowned. Lucy bring up her ex boyfriend has triggered something in his that he wished he knew that Cha woo so he could deal with him in a way he would never forget it in his life. But he was still grateful for dumping Lucy. If not,how would Lucy be his?
" No. You are unique because you have a bright future ahead of you. And to that guy who left you,he doesn't Worth your tears. You are way too precious so forget about him".
" But I can't do that!" Lucy cried " he..he called me a witch and I started to believe him."
" Lucy,you are not a witch".
" I KILLED MY PARENTS! How could I be anything else?" Lucy cried her eyes red from anger and hatred.
Kim Jo was shocked once more but he had to confront Lucy first to understand the situation that was unexpectedly brought up.
" You didn't kill your parents and you are NOT a witch Lucy"
But Lucy was no longer in the present. She was in the past.
" It was raining that day...." She started her story
Flashback to 13 years ago**
9PM in USA Florida,it was raining heavily and a Young couple of black American stood outside a coffee shop.
Little eight years old Lucy was sleeping on his father's arms when she suddenly woke up. She stared at her father's face for a while before searching for her mother whom she found standing behind his dad.
Mr. Louis smiled at Lucy and Mrs Louis giggled.
" Little kitten is awake"
" Why are we still not home yet?" Lucy asked innocently and Mr. Louis chuckled and replied
" Kitten, it's raining."
" But I want to go home daddy. I'm fine if we go under the rain. I promise I won't catch cold"
Lucy said looking wide awake now.
" Lucy,you just got discharged from the hospital. I don't want to go back there with you in my arms looking scared" Mrs. Louis said to Lucy still smiling.
Lucy sighed and nodded. " Okay. Daddy,can you drop me now? I think I need to touch the ground with my feets." Lucy said to her dad and her father dropped her down.
But immediately Lucy feets touched the ground,she bolted into the pouring rain.
" LUCY!" Her parents screamed in fear and ran after her.
Lucy rushed to the road and started running down the road to cross to the other side when the traffic light turned green for the vehicles. Her parents rushed into the road without checking. A red truck appeared out of nowhere and slammed into both of them. The couple were set flying to the other side of the road. Immediately they landed on the concrete ground they hit their head and blood started flowing from their bodies.
Lucy who had stopped running watched the accident happened and was paralyzed in fear. Only when people started calling the emergency line and shouting was what brought Lucy back to her senses. She walked up to her parents bodies and knelt between them.
" Mom? Dad? What are you two doing? Stand up let's go home." She called shaking them but non moved or say anything. " Mommy..you are scaring me,wake up. Daddy? Please wake up, please. I promise I won't run away again. Mommy wake up please" she cried.
Soon the ambulance came and quickly took both father and mother into the stretcher and left to the hospital. Lucy ran after them screaming in tears but suddenly stopped. Her heartbeat stopped for a moment. She felt as if cold water as been poured on her and her vision blurred.
She fainted.
When Lucy opened her eyes and saw herself in the hospital in the bed. Beside her sat her grandma who had been crying ever since she received a call from the hospital.
Lucy turned to her granny and asked " where is my mom and Dad granny Mary?"
Granny Mary sobs grew louder.
" My dear Lucy, Grandma will be the one watching you grow. Your parents....they...they are dead."
Lucy let the words sink in. But the weight of them was crushing. " What?" She said slowly. Her heart felt heavy and suddenly started suffocating. She clutch her chest and started trembling her vision blurred as the voice in her head kept repeating itself. " You killed your parents"
