Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Origin Magician

What is 'replenishing'?

It's the most common way of restoring magic power in the mystical world.

Although there are other methods, exchanging bodily fluids is the most efficient.

"Hey, have you been reading some unhealthy magazines behind my back?"

Rias leaned lazily against the table, her cheeks flushed, but still looked directly at Ayato, her beautiful eyes sparkling.

"What are you thinking? You were the one who suggested it."

Ayato's expression was perfectly righteous.

Why would he refuse something offered to him? Who did that make him look like?

And honestly, replenishing was really good; most of his magic power was already restored.

"Oh my, it seems I'm interrupting?"

At the library entrance stood a tall, stunningly beautiful girl with waist-length hair tied into a ponytail, radiating the aura of a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko.

In terms of looks alone, she rivaled Rias.

"Akeno, why did you come in?"

Rias's body stiffened slightly.

It had been her first kiss, and even having Himejima Akeno watch made her a bit embarrassed.

"I was waiting outside for too long."

Akeno's eyes narrowed slightly as her gaze moved between the two, a knowing smile on her face.

"She likes to watch, let her watch. I still need a bit more magic power to fully recover."

Saying this, Ayato leaned closer to Rias again.

"President Rias, did you give Ayato the item?"

Seeing this, Akeno couldn't help but feel a bit tense.

'What was happening?'

'Since when was Ayato this shameless?'

While she didn't really mind waiting...

Being force-fed this much PDA was annoying.

"Cough, there is indeed some business to attend to."

With a light cough, Rias had already regained her graceful composure.

Then she reached out her hand. A purple magic circle flashed briefly and disappeared.

In her hand now appeared a chess set.

"Evil Pieces?"

Ayato's eyes flickered.

This was a technology developed by one of the current Four Great Satans, Beelzebub, to increase Devil's military strength and numbers by converting other beings into Devils.

"Here. From now on, this set of Evil Pieces is yours."

"Okay."

Ayato didn't stand on ceremony and directly accepted them.

Rias smiled and cautioned, "Each set has a limited number of pieces, so be very careful when choosing your servants."

"It's best if they are of special races or possess Sacred Gears."

After explaining a few things, Rias left the library with Akeno.

"Servants, huh..."

Ayato picked up one of the Evil Pieces but didn't pay it too much attention.

If this were before...

He would definitely try to use the Evil Pieces to reincarnate powerful servants.

But for now, the priority was his own strength.

Then, with a thought, the virtual panel appeared.

[Notice: Origin +10]

Looking at the notice on the panel, Ayato paused briefly, then quickly looked at the faint, mysterious patterns on the Evil Piece.

'I see... So this is how you obtain Origin points?'

What is Origin? It could be considered one of the foundations of the world.

Therefore, all things, even knowledge itself, should be components of Origin.

'No wonder I had so many Origin points to begin with. They must have come from what I've seen and learned over the years.'

Thinking this, Ayato casually took a book from the shelf and began reading it.

He read line by line quickly. After finishing the entire book, he saw the notification.

[Notice: Origin +1]

Looking at the text, Ayato thought, 'It seems the acquisition of Origin points isn't fixed either. From the current situation, items related to the supernatural provide more Origin points.'

Realizing this, Ayato put the book back and sat down again.

He turned his hand over. The glow of a magic circle shimmered in the air.

With a rustling sound, books began falling onto the table.

These books all came from the Underworld, and their content could be described as extremely varied. However, they were all very precious.

Because Rias had forced them upon him to help him increase his strength.

For a long time though, in order to get stronger quickly, Ayato had focused only on Lightning Magic, aside from a few practical spells.

He hadn't even looked at the other magic books.

Picking up a book at random, Ayato began flipping through it quickly.

[Notice: Origin +3]

[Notice: Origin +5]

Before he had even finished one book, notifications started appearing continuously.

'Indeed, my guess was correct.'

Ayato's eyes grew brighter and brighter, and he unconsciously sped up his page-turning.

Fortunately, he was now a Devil, with memory far surpassing that of a human.

Before long...

He had finished one book.

Then...

Ayato didn't immediately add points. Instead, he picked up another book to read.

As each book was finished, he accumulated more and more Origin points. He also discovered something else.

That is, regardless of what it was, you only needed to see it, not necessarily understand it, to gain experience.

Unknowingly...

It was already late at night.

Ayato had stayed in the library the whole time without feeling tired, as if he had lost track of time.

'I'll stop here for now...'

Putting down a book, Ayato summoned the virtual panel.

[Mori Ayato]

[Class: Origin Magician]

[Magic: Lightning Magic LV41 (+)]

[Origin: 1815 points]

Rubbing his slightly sore eyes, Ayato started adding points with a thought.

Hum! Hum! Hum!

Light began to flash continuously on the virtual panel.

Ayato felt the magic power within him surging like a turbulent sea.

It felt as if the space around him had transformed into a domain of lightning; as far as his eyes could see, there was only thunder.

Finally...

The light gradually faded.

[Ayato]

[Class: Origin Magician]

[Magic: Lightning Magic LV60 (+)]

[Origin: 1182 points]

Ayato focused his gaze and saw a new notification on the panel:

[Ding, Lightning Magic has been raised to level 60. Would you like to spend 1000 Origin points to complete a class change?]
