Zhao Chen stood in the center of the suspension elevator, surrounded by the women.
Although they were chatting about the merits of the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship, Zhao Chen could sense the underlying tension.
Captain of the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship, Ship One!
This was a position any Starship Captain would dream of.
If there was any romance beyond giant ships and cannons, it was the breathtaking spectacle of thousands of Stellar Fighters and Stellar Drones swarming out like dark clouds toward the Enemy Fleet at a single command.
Currently, those under Zhao Chen capable of competing for this position were Charlotte, Zhao Wan'er, Shen Bing, Red Eyes, and the wolf girl Bai Xue.
Charlotte was undoubtedly the top candidate. She had the ability, combat experience, and was a veteran of Zhao Chen's Fierce Dragon Fleet. In every aspect, she was worthy of commanding this T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship.
Zhao Wan'er was Zhao Chen's trusted younger sister. Although she lacked some combat experience, her talent for battle and command had been unmistakably displayed during her previous command of the T3 Phantom Sting-class Light Interstellar Stealth Bomber. Moreover, compared to the T3 Phantom Sting-class Light Interstellar Stealth Bomber, the position on the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship was safer, as it was located in the fleet core position. If a Carrier Starship in an interstellar fleet was threatened, one could imagine the fleet's dire situation.
The wolf girl Bai Xue was recommended by Charlotte. She also possessed ability and skill, but in terms of seniority, she naturally ranked behind Charlotte.
Shen Bing and Red Eyes had recently joined the Fierce Dragon Fleet. Their abilities spoke for themselves. Shen Bing was the national-level campus belle Zhao Chen had recruited from the North Star Starship Military Academy, while Red Eyes came from a stellar mercenary corps that operated on the edge of danger. Their capabilities were unquestionable.
Although none of these women explicitly stated their desire to become the Captain of the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship, their eager eyes betrayed their thoughts.
Annie's earlier remark was undoubtedly like throwing a stone into the calm lake.
This little girl was deliberately stirring up trouble for him.
Zhao Chen looked at Annie standing in front of him and felt an urge to give her a kick.
Annie shivered, sensing a sudden chill. She rubbed her stomach, thinking she probably hadn't eaten enough at lunch.
Soon, the group arrived outside the bridge of the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship.
The bridge entrance was an automatically sensing virtual light gate, one-way transparent. Those outside couldn't see inside, but those inside could see out. It also automatically recognized crew authorization.
Although those present were not official crew members of the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship, as senior officers in the Fierce Dragon Fleet, their authority was second only to Zhao Chen's. Entering the bridge posed no problem.
After scanning Zhao Chen and the others' identities, the bridge door vanished.
Before them appeared a magnificent crimson bridge!
Zhao Chen and the others stepped into the bridge. Looking up, they could see five layers of hollow structure above; looking down, there were also five layers of hollow layout.
The entire bridge resembled a crimson flaming bird's nest covered in intricate textures.
The command center was located in the very central area.
The command center's functions are quite similar to those of the T3 Blizzard, but its capabilities are far more extensive. While the T3 Blizzard only needs to focus on its own combat, the T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship must command thousands of Stellar Fighters and Stellar Drones in battle—the system strengths of the two are entirely different.
"This bridge has positions for one hundred Starship Crew members, capable of monitoring all data and conditions from every department of this T3 Phoenix," Annie explained.
Charlotte and the others looked around the entire bridge, each of their eyes filled with boundless longing.
Wasn't this the stage they had dreamed of?
The tail behind Charlotte even began to wag incessantly.
A radiant glow flickered in Red Eyes' gaze.
Zhao Chen walked over to the command platform and skillfully summoned a hovering captain's chair, seating himself upon it.
The entire hovering captain's chair adjusted to Zhao Chen's body, forming the most comfortable structure possible. Moreover, it would move to any location on the bridge Zhao Chen desired, directly responding to his brainwave sensing.
When not needed, it would automatically retract into the floor.
"I've decided that I will temporarily serve as the Captain of this T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship. Lilith will be my Secretary Officer, and Red Eyes will be my Deputy Captain," Zhao Chen announced to the women, declaring his decision.
Upon hearing that Zhao Chen would be the Captain of this T3 Phoenix-class, although the women felt somewhat disappointed, after all, Zhao Chen was the commander. It was most fitting for him to serve as the Captain of the currently strongest interstellar warship in the Fierce Dragon Fleet.
Moreover, this T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship was also highly suitable for Zhao Chen's identity. As the commander of the Fierce Dragon Fleet, he couldn't possibly continue charging into battle commanding a T3 Blizzard-class Light Interstellar Battlecruiser as before, could he?
That would be somewhat inappropriate.
As for Red Eyes serving as Zhao Chen's Deputy Captain, it was a bit unusual.
"Commander... me serving as Deputy Captain... this is a bit... not quite appropriate... I'm already more than satisfied serving as the Captain of a T2 Black Rhinoceros-class interstellar heavy assault frigate," Red Eyes said, feeling somewhat overwhelmed by the unexpected honor.
"Right now, I'm somewhat short on personnel under my command. You serving as my Deputy Captain is just right. This is an order, not a discussion," Zhao Chen said, feigning seriousness.
The other women didn't mind this arrangement either.
After all, it was only a Deputy Captain position.
For someone like Charlotte or Zhao Wan'er, coming to serve as Deputy Captain on Zhao Chen's starship—though they themselves might not mind—would be an underutilization of talent, especially at a time when the Fierce Dragon Fleet lacked top-tier commanders.
Red Eyes had just joined the Fierce Dragon Fleet and still lacked a sense of belonging.
Having her independently command a T3 interstellar warship wasn't quite suitable, yet assigning her as the Captain of a T2 interstellar warship would be somewhat beneath her capabilities.
Thus, serving as Zhao Chen's Deputy Captain was the best transitional position.
"I understand your thoughts.
Don't worry, this is our first T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship, but it definitely won't be the last.
Soon, we'll have a second, a fifth, even a tenth T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starship.
When the time comes, as long as you're willing, each of you can have one to pilot for fun," Zhao Chen promised the women, as if joking.
But everyone knew that every word Commander Zhao Chen had spoken so far had come true without exception.
Ten T3 Phoenix-class Heavy Carrier Starships...
What a sight that would be.
Just thinking about it made one's blood boil.
Zhao Chen sat in the captain's chair and closed his eyes.
It was as if he were already there, witnessing an interstellar fleet composed entirely of T3 level interstellar warships, conquering the stars and seas under his command!
No!
Not just T3 interstellar warships—in the future, he would possess T4 interstellar warships, and even stronger ones.
