"Hey Zinnia, I wanted to ask you something for a long time."
"Sure, ask whatever you want," she replied.
I asked, "What's the past between you two?"
"Me and who?" she replied.
I said, "Steve and you."
"Why are you so interested in it? Or should I say, why are you so interested in Steve?" she questioned me.
"Oh please, I'm not interested in him! I'm just asking out of curiosity," I replied, even though I had been interested in him since the day I saw him.
"Well… we both liked each other a few years back, but it ended very badly," she replied.
I asked, "What do you mean by that?"
She said, "I was dating someone, but I don't know how I started liking Steve. Maybe it was because he was so interested in me.
A few months later, we had a fight that ended really badly. He humiliated me and said wrong things about me to others. He made me look like a very bad woman. After that, we never talked."
I trusted her because I had no other choice, but deep down, I wanted to know Steve's point of view but also i pictured a very bad image of steve in my head .
"Now would you please tell me, Miss Ella, why you're so interested in him? Do you like him?"
"No, of course not," I replied nervously.
Steve and I barely talked after he found out that I was friends with Zinnia.
One day, Steve suddenly came up to me and said,
"Ella, you should not talk to Zinnia. She's not the person you think she is."
"Oh please! You don't get to tell me who I should talk to. I know what's good for me, and now I know what you did to her. She already told me everything," I replied.
"And you're trusting her?" he asked.
"Yes, of course."
And he left, disappointed.
