The town finally descended into chaos. The clamor of the night turned into shouts and the sounds of weapons clashing in battle. These sounds alarmed the other adventurers and residents near the harbor, who began to realize that danger had arrived.
The scene that unfolded in the tavern was playing out everywhere in the town. These experienced adventurers would not foolishly rush into the mist. They shouted and gathered, relying on buildings like taverns and shops to resist the invading Fishmen.
Residents on the streets also fled into their homes, closing their doors and using their residences as cover to temporarily resist the monsters' attacks. Only some adventurers and residents who couldn't escape or react in time encountered Fishmen on the fog-shrouded streets.
But the adventurers in this town were all very experienced warriors, and each adventurer had his companions, so they were not without the power to resist.
Only extremely unlucky adventurers would be quickly dealt with by the Fishmen rushing in, like the sailors in the harbor.
Dragonborne Wolf Sahar patrolled the streets on the other side of town, away from the harbor docks, with his retinue of kin. The Kobolds behind him held tough long staffs that could clash with iron, and wore simple clothing.
Centaurs, on the other hand, were valued for their powerful combat abilities, generally carrying sharp iron hunting spears and longbows, and wearing tough animal hides and leather armor with excellent defense.
As for the even more powerful Dragonborne Wolf Sahar, he trusted his sharp claws more than ordinary weapons, and his tough hide, strengthened by Red Dragon blood, was no worse than the leather armor on a Centaur Warrior.
These highly intelligent Dragonborne, with greater strength than other kin, were now very capable assistants to the true Dragon's.
The dozen or so Dragonkin brought from the Catha Empire's gladiatorial arena had been assigned by the Dragon clan to be administrators and peacekeepers in the most developed area of the Dragon Territory.
Every night, a Dragonbone must lead the other Dragonkin to patrol the entire town, maintaining order and security.
However, in the past, Dragonkin only needed to comfortably stay in the security office built in town, letting their Kobold subordinates and other tribal warriors patrol the streets. This was their privilege.
But the unusually thick fog tonight made Dragonborne Wolf Sahar, with his keen intuition, feel that something was wrong. This was an innate beastly sense from the Wolf, so he personally led his monsters to patrol the town.
For Dragonborne, not failing the trust of the Giant Dragon and their creator was the most important thing. Dragonborn Wolf Sahar did not want the responsibility given to him by the Red Dragon to go awry.
Dragonborne Wolf Sahar's beastly intuition came true. When Saha led his kin to the center of town, his keen hearing had already picked up the sounds of fighting and monster roars coming from the mist.
The Dragonborne Wolf was startled. He was not afraid of battle; he was only afraid of failing to guard the territory for the Red Dragon, and the thick fog now severely obscured his vision.
Even for a powerful werewolf , the visible distance was no more than ten meters, because this was not simply naturally formed mist, but mist imbued with magical power.
The Dragonborne Wolf stopped, and said in Dragon Language to a Kobold behind him, "You go back to the security office and light the warning beacon. This matter must be made known to Lord Kalon and the other true Dragons as soon as possible."
"Then gather the other Dragonkin warriors in the security office and come support us," the Dragonborne Wolf then pointed out a few Kobolds and said, "You go inform the residents who don't know what's happening yet. Every single household must be notified. Tell them to pick up their weapons and gather."
"If there are too many monsters attacking the territory, these wooden houses won't be able to hold out for long. It's best to come and meet up with us. We don't know the distribution of the monsters yet, so even escaping into the forest is very dangerous."
These Kobolds growled a few words in Dragon Language and quickly ran back.
"As for you, follow me," the Dragonborn Wolf deliberately left the powerful Centaur Warrior to follow him. His crimson eyes, mutated by the Red Dragon's bloodline radiation, lit up, and his voice was filled with anger and hatred.
"To dare to attack the Dragon clan's Territory, before Lord Kalon tears these mongrels to shreds, I want to test their mettle."
After speaking, the tall Dragonborne Wolf took the lead and stepped into the thick mist. The other Centaur Warrior also tightened their grip on their weapons and followed the Wolf into the mist.
Whoosh,
After taking a few steps into the mist, two hideous monsters lunged out from the thick fog. Their sharp tridents stabbed towards the Dragonborne Wolf in front. These monsters always attacked enemies in pairs.
"So it's you bastard fish-men, damn things," Dragonborne Wolf Sahar's voice was cold, his crimson eyes revealing intense killing intent. He had no intention of dodging.
The Dragonborn Wolf's strong arms bulged with knotted muscles, and his claws, usually retracted beneath his long fur, shot out with a'shing'. His strong thighs pushed off the ground, launching him forward, and his incredibly sharp claws formed a diagonal cross shape as he slashed forward.
The tridents stabbing at his body were knocked aside by the Dragonborn Wolf's immense strength, and the sharp Wolf claws sliced into the bodies of the two Fishmen lunging forward.
"Pfft,"
The tough hides and sturdy spinal bones of the two Fishmen were severed by the Wolf's claws. Their bodies, split in two, fell to the ground, and gushing blood and clumps of internal organs flowed from their broken forms.
Howl,
The Dragonborne Wolf let out an excited howl, stimulated by the blood, and met the monsters continuously pouring out of the thick fog.
The Dragonborne Wolf, gradually entering a berserk state, paid no heed to the tridents stabbing at him. His thick fur and tough hide, somewhat similar to a Giant Dragon's, meant he didn't have to worry too much about defense. He wielded his blood-stained claws and charged forward.
"Kill that Wolf! The fish-men will exterminate everything!"
"Charge! Take out that Wolf!"
The Fishmen shouted in an abyssal language that the Dragonkin couldn't understand. One by one, they gripped their tridents and charged at the Dragonborne Wolf and the Centaur Warrior.
Under the Fishmen Priestess's spell, their courage and strength were enhanced, and the blood they had bathed in earlier further ignited their ferocity. They were completely unafraid of the exceptionally strong Wolf before them.
One Fishmen after another charged at the Dragonborne Wolf, only to be torn and shredded by the Wolf's sharp claws. Broken monster corpses and strange blood flowed everywhere, and a thick smell of blood permeated the mist.
The Centaur Warrior behind the sahar also naturally formed a triangular wedge formation, holding up their long hunting spears to protect the Dragonborn Wolf's flanks and rear, engaging the surging Fishmen.
These Fishmen's tridents were not as long as the hunting spears in the Centaur Warrior's hands. Often, they were pierced through the body by the long hunting spears before they could even attack the Centaur Warrior.
Moreover, these Centaur were strong and all elite warriors from their tribe. Their powerful arms, after piercing through a Fishmen's body, would swing, sending the other lunging Fishmen flying.
For a time, the attacking force, with the Dragonborne Wolf as its spearhead, was unstoppable, stirring up a bloody storm within the monster horde.
It was only due to the poor visibility in the fog-shrouded town; otherwise, with the innate strength of Centaur, powerful cavalry warriors, and the Dragonborn Wolf, their charge would have been even more irresistible.
Even though the Fishmen's strength was also quite formidable, they were much more troublesome than ordinary human warriors.
But there were simply too many of these monsters pouring out of the thick fog, endlessly and fearlessly. The Dragonborn Wolf and the Centaur Warrior also began to show some wounds.
Pfft,
The Dragonborn Wolf's silver-white fur was already covered in blood. He led the team, charging back and forth, finally scattering the monsters attacking the Giant Dragon kin nearby. His ears twitched, actively searching for traces of the enemy.
"Ah, help! These monsters are breaking in!"
A sharp shout came from within the mist, very close by.
The front door of a residence was broken down by Fishmen. These monsters were about to rush into the residence to kill the humans and plunder their treasures.
Bang, a corpse was flung at the monsters gathered at the doorway, sending them sprawling. The Dragonborne Wolf arrived with the Centaur Warrior.
The Wolf, in a berserk state, was incredibly brave. He leaped, stepping on two Fishmen lying on the ground, and swung his claws, decapitating the Fishmen's ugly heads.
The rest of the Centaur Warriors also rushed over, their thrusting hunting spears piercing through the monsters' bodies, then shaking them down to fling the corpses away.
The Dragonborne Wolf stepped into the residence. Several armed adventurers stood in the hall, protecting the trembling ladies behind them. He had arrived just in time, and there were no casualties yet.
"This place can no longer stop the monster's attack. You can choose to flee backward yourselves or stay by our side," Dragonborn Wolf Saha didn't say much, but left this sentence and turned to leave.
The human warriors and ladies exchanged glances. Although the Dragonborn Wolf in his berserk state was incredibly terrifying, his fur covered in blood, crimson eyes, and bulging muscles made him look more like a monster, they felt a sense of security.
"Follow him, this Wolf is a Dragonkin."
So, without much discussion, they all chose to follow the Dragonborne Wolf's footsteps.
