Chapter 53 - Only legends can face legends

Perhaps because the White Tower wasn't built very tall, it was intentionally broadened quite a bit. Or perhaps the Magician had cast folding space spells within the White Tower, as Kalon, with his eight-meter-plus body, felt a sense of spaciousness upon entering.

And behind the luxurious screen in this spacious reception hall, there must have been an even vaster space. Kalon didn't understand spatial magic, but this was his intuition as a True Dragon.

Led by a servant golem, Kalon ascended the winding, wide staircase. The stairs were intricately carved with mysterious and profound magic runes, and under Kalon's gaze, each rune seemed to hold a unique meaning and power.

At the entrance of each level of the staircase, there were Magical Guards clad in full armor. Their full-body iron armor and the cold glinting longswords emanated a ripple of magical energy, indicating they were finely crafted magical weapons.

The Magical Guards' twin red, glowing eyes peered from within their fully enclosed iron helmets, locking tightly onto Kalon's figure. However, the golem's lead kept them obediently in place, loyally guarding the upward passage.

Kalon had followed the golem, not knowing how many steps he had climbed; in his impression, it was far more than six levels. Just as he thought the upward stairs seemed endless, the servant golem leading the way finally stopped before a white door.

Two servant-dressed golems bowed to Kalon, saying, "Esteemed guest, the Master awaits your visit inside. Please enter."

Although Kalon felt a bit apprehensive, the mysterious Archmage's methods displayed in this White Tower perfectly matched his stereotypes of powerful magicians. Fortunately, the servants' attitudes revealed some of the Archmage's disposition.

So the Red Dragon pushed open the door and stepped inside.

To the Red Dragon's surprise, this level of the White Tower was just a simple space, like a slightly larger attic. It seemed to be a place where the White Tower's Master occasionally rested and relaxed, with just a simple lounge chair and a small table covered with a beautiful tablecloth placed in front of a wide floor-to-ceiling window.

The cup on the table was steaming, and a white-haired Old Magician in a light robe was gazing leisurely out the floor-to-ceiling window, lost in thought.

Hearing the Red Dragon's footsteps, the white-haired Old Magician turned his head and said with a smile, "You've arrived. Please, make yourself comfortable." Magical light flowed from the Magician's hand, shattering the magic ring that had bound the Red Dragon.

This Magician seemed to have no apprehension about a True Dragon approaching, and the way his eyes narrowed into a smile when he spoke felt very familiar to Kalon. The Red Dragonprobably knew where Mimi Eye Mage Hsiusir's habit of always smiling with narrowed eyes when speaking came from.

Kalon had no unrealistic ideas. Causing trouble in a Saint Realm Great Mage's Master Tower? Well, among the Five-Colored Dragon, only the White Dragon would do such a thing.

The Red Dragon walked over and obediently sat beside the Magician, looking out the floor-to-ceiling window. In the distance, brightly lit, the tall and majestic Imperial Palace appeared before his eyes.

"Look, how grand is the Imperial Palace of this Emperor? No building in the entire city can exceed the Emperor's Palace," the smiling Old Magician said, pointing at the palace.

"Actually, your purpose is clear to any discerning eye, but those nobles dare not make any moves now, because this is the path chosen by this Emperor."

"Until this Emperor fails, these timid and greedy nobles will bury their heads in the dirt, hoping the Emperor won't notice them."

Kalon knew that the Magician's words were not casual chatter, so he asked in confusion, "Chosen path? What path?"

"Do you know what the most important thing about becoming a Magician is?" the white-haired Old Magician suddenly changed the subject and asked in return.

"Spiritual power? Or magical element talent?" Kalon was a bit confused. He disliked this 'riddler' approach, but unfortunately, his 'fist' wasn't as big as the other party's. No, not a physical fist.

The white-haired Magician shook his head, "Wrong. The most important thing to become a Magician is your perspective on the true world and your way of thinking."

"The world observed by each person is different. What they see and hear is not the true world, but a projection of the world cast into your consciousness through your perceptions. Therefore, the vast majority of people, including magicians, have a significant error in their understanding of the true world."

"The more powerful a Magician is, the deeper his understanding of the true world. Or, conversely, the deeper a Magician's understanding of the true world, the more powerful he is."

Kalon cherished this rare and valuable knowledge, as True Dragons had no such inherited knowledge; their Dragon Blood alone allowed them to be at the top of the biological food chain.

Although he didn't know why the Magician would impart such knowledge, which would be considered precious to most people, he pricked up his ears, diligently digesting the Magician's words.

"And this is also the most important point for stepping into the Legendary realm," the Old Magician seemed not to care how astonishing his words were. He raised his right hand and asked the Red Dragon, "You say this is the right hand or the left hand?"

Kalon knew the Magician's question couldn't be that simple, but after thinking for a while, he was still at a loss and could only hesitate, "R-right hand, I guess."

The Old Magician smiled until his eyes were almost completely narrowed, revealing only a sliver of an eye slit. He picked up the cup on the table, took a sip, cleared his throat, and then spoke, "If a Legend says it's the right hand, it's the right hand. If a Legend says it's the left hand, it's the left hand."

"Huh?" Kalon's Dragon eyes immediately widened, "Can a Legend tamper with others' perceptions?"

"Yes and no," the Old Magician didn't play any more guessing games with Kalon this time. His expression became serious,

"Every legitimate Legend must construct a complete world cognition and understanding based on the true world, and these cognitions and understandings will also become each Legend's unique ability."

"But every legitimate Legend has a basic commonality, which is the ability to use their understanding of the true world to overwrite others' perceptions. In other words, if you are not a Legend, then you are facing a being that is essentially a False god."

"Even among the True Dragons, the Golden Dragons with the strongest bloodline, these outstanding True Dragons can possess the ability to contend with a Legendary upon reaching adulthood."

"But when facing a Legendary Mage, even if this Magician cannot kill the True Dragon, he can easily trap the True Dragon. A Legendary Mage can even take the time to conduct an interesting experiment in other planes."

"This is also why only by reaching the Legendary realm can one be qualified to step out of the Prime Material Plane and travel and adventure in the Astral Plane and the Void. In the Astral Plane and the Void, there are no conventional definitions of up, down, left, right, or object concepts."

"Many places are even chaotic. Only by constructing one's own complete and unique understanding of the world will one not be trapped in these places."

The Old Magician warned Kalon with a serious face, "In the future, before you reach the Legendary realm, if you encounter other Legendaries, remember to run as far as you can! Only a Legendary can face a Legendary!"

Alright, speeding up the pace, ending this plotline quickly.
