In the week that followed, except for spending six hours each day in his forge, Leon spent the rest of his time trying his best to figure out the intent behind the Seventh Veil Dream Invocation Art. But in the end, he arrived at a depressing conclusion. This thing was so damn hard that he didn't even understand 0.001 percent of it.
The same went for the forbidden spell contained in his other black hoop earring, the forearm guard, and the three Asura tattoos. All of them just felt like unsurpassable mountains covered in snow.
The only comforting news was that his right earring, which contained the forbidden spell to activate the sixth sense of the human body called the Six Heavenly Intent Perception Sutra, showed some signs of revealing its secret.
After spending three days on it, Leon finally deciphered some of its contents. Actually, it was only now that he realized this spell contained six parts, whereas the previous version Leon had practiced only had one.
But anyway, since it was divided into six levels, it somewhat reduced the difficulty of learning the technique. Leon, without any hesitation, focused on one of the six skills, trying to comprehend it with all his might.
During this time, the two little ones were also not as stiff as when they first came home. Their skinny frames gradually gained some weight, and now no one could associate them with the two beggars Leon had brought home back then.
Now the two of them were responsible for looking after Leon's shop and other chores like cleaning and cooking. Of course, they did it all on their own accord.
Suddenly, Leon's eyes shot open and he looked toward the sky with a gloomy expression. Even though there was a ceiling above his head, it seemed as though he had sensed something unpleasant taking form in the sky.
Without any expression, he stood up and went downstairs, where the two little girls were watching some cultivation based movie on the blue screen computer at the reception table.
"Brother Leo, done with your cultivation already?" Ame asked cheerfully when she saw Leon walking down.
Leon nodded with his usual smile and said, "Whatever happens here next, don't be afraid, okay?"
Boom.
Before the two little girls could understand the meaning of his words, the door at the entrance of the shop was pushed open. One after another, eight old men in white robes entered. On their chests was printed the golden insignia of an eagle with two crossed swords below it and three golden stars above it.
Seeing the old men and noticing the familiar white clothes they had seen at the Elder Council, the two little girls' expressions changed and they instinctively hid behind Leon.
The leading old man squinted at the little girls and said in a deep tone, "Since you failed to remove the evil mana from their bodies, according to the order of the Elder Council of the Human Alliance, to uphold the well being of humans, they have to be executed. I hope Skywalker won't interfere in the matters of the Elder Council."
Leon took a deep breath to calm his emotions and said with the most amicable voice he could muster, "The runes in their bodies are not fully integrated. In at most six months, I am sure I will be able to remove the evil mana completely. So give me some face in light of my achievements on the battlefield and withdraw the order."
One of the elders sneered when he heard this. "Give you face? Is a cripple like you even worth any face in front of us? If not for your master, I would have already slapped you to death."
A vein throbbed on Leon's forehead as he forced a smile on his face. "Please consider your words carefully. I don't think the Elder Council wants to stand against the Battle Hall, right?"
The elder who spoke first laughed. "We are not afraid to stand against anyone for the sake of humanity. Furthermore, after the two girls die, do you really think the Battle Hall will make a meaningless stance against us?"
Leon's irises gradually turned a mix between golden and red us he tried his best to control himself. "Please leave. They are under my protection, and just by activating the God Suppression Array of the 36th Stronghold, you won't be able to take them away. After all, it's not only my cultivation that will be suppressed to silver rank."
The elder's smile did not falter as he continued, "If it was you from two years back who told me this, I might have considered it a threat. But now, I only feel it's just a joke from a cripple. As for the God Suppression Array, it was activated according to proper procedure in order to not cause harm to the civilians. After all, unlike uncivilized barbarians like you from the Battle Hall, we obey rules."
"Barbarians, huh? Some sissies who didn't even have the guts to step inside the battlefield have the audacity to address my warriors with such nicknames?" Just then, a deep voice came from outside and a burly old man entered the shop as he pushed away the elders who were blocking his path with his broad shoulders.
This old man was six feet in height and wore beach shorts with a flower printed shirt. There was also a cowboy hat on his head along with black cooling glasses on his face.
All the white clothed elders' expressions changed when they saw the old man.
"Supreme elder James, two years ago, thousands of brainless fools from your Battle Hall died because you didn't listen to our suggestion. Please don't interfere..." Before the white clothed elder could finish, an overwhelming killing intent spread through the entire room with Leon at its center.
"Idiots, why court death by pulling the lion's mane?" James's expression changed as he turned toward Leo.
At some point, Leon's irises were already ruby red with a golden flicker like flames in them. His face was now expressionless, and with a wave of his hand, the two little girls were covered in a blue flame and gently floated toward James.
"Take care of them," Leon said icily.
"Leo, don't be rash. I can handle this..." James tried to placate the situation, but Leon glared at him.
"When we were fighting, these idiots were enjoying themselves with liquor and women. Now they have the guts to mock my fallen comrades. Do you really think Leon Skywalker is the name of a saint?"
James opened his mouth, but in the end, he sighed and stepped back, as he protected the two little girls behind him.
"Impudent. Do you think we are afraid of..." Before the elder could finish, Leon appeared before him like a flash. The elder felt an overwhelming force slam into his abdomen, yanking his head forward as he spat out a mouthful of blood.
Seeing this, the other elders' expressions changed and they pulled out their magic staffs from their storage rings.
"Don't interfere. An angry Leon is not something any of us can control. As for this old sissy, his life or death is entirely up to Leon's mood." James said us he eyed the old men coldly. "Oh, one more thing. If you are pinning your hopes on the army you brought with you, don't even have such illusions. Leon's bloodline indeed fell to the dormant stage during that battle, but his cultivation is still there."
Hearing this, the elders looked at each other and tacitly turned their heads away from the old man who was being ruthlessly punched to the ground like a punching bag.
When Leon stopped, the old man's face was a bloody mess with his front teeth knocked out and his white robe completely covered in blood. If not for the slight rising and falling of his chest, it was hard to believe that the old man was still alive.
Without any expression on his face, Leon walked to one of the elders and wiped his bloodied hand on the old man's white robe. "You guys will clean all the bloodstains on the floor before you leave this place, and never come back for the two little girls again."
Looking into Leon's blood red irises, the old man shivered all over and quickly nodded his head like a chick pecking rice.
Leon nodded in satisfaction and without giving the men in white a second glance, took out a wine gourd from his storage ring and started drinking from it with an expressionless face as he sat on top of the reception table like a thug.
