This result from Arthur made Fumikage Tokoyami and the others who hadn't seen his Quirk before finally realize something.
Back during the softball throw, he hadn't used anything at all. That throw was just pure wrist strength.
"Whoa… this guy's a monster too."
"What even is his Quirk?"
"If he actually used it, how strong would he be?"
Shota Aizawa wrote down the results, then gave Arthur a look. "As long as you're not last, right? Same attitude as always."
He looked up and called out, "Next test. Standing long jump."
Tsuyu Asui easily got a good result with her Frog Quirk, and Yuga Aoyama used his Navel Laser to boost himself forward.
But the most ridiculous one was Inasa Yoarashi.
He straight up used a whirlwind to launch himself nearly twenty meters.
Currently first place.
Meanwhile, Izuku Midoriya had been perfor jiming like a completely normal person so far.
Just barely over two meters.
It made people seriously wonder how he even passed the entrance exam.
Then came Arthur.
He casually jumped close to eight meters with a single leap.
At the same time, Shoto Todoroki stood at the line and used ice to propel himself forward, also landing a strong result.
At this point, everyone understood something.
No matter how much Arthur slacked off, someone else would still end up last.
He didn't even need to use his Quirk.
Of course, only Arthur himself was thinking like that.
Everyone else was going all out.
Each student pushed themselves as hard as they could.
Another reason was simple. Their Quirks didn't work well in every event.
So they had to maximize their strong ones.
Naturally, Todoroki and Inasa, with their versatile abilities, were exceptions.
As for Arthur, even without using his Quirk, his current scores would still put him somewhere in the upper middle of the class.
"Next, we're heading to the indoor gym!"
Aizawa called out again.
The next few tests were all held inside.
Grip strength, side steps, and more.
At first, everyone thought Arthur would keep doing what he had been doing.
With Midoriya at the bottom, he could just coast through.
But then Arthur suddenly dragged a chair over from the side of the gym and sat down.
"…What is he doing?"
Denki Kaminari looked completely confused.
The next second, something appeared from Arthur's body.
A tall, muscular humanoid figure with bronze skin and gold armor, almost two meters tall.
The pressure alone made Ochaco Uraraka and Kyoka Jiro freeze for a second.
"That thing…"
Tokoyami's expression shifted. "Is it like my Dark Shadow?"
Right after that, The World picked up the grip strength tester and squeezed.
Crack!
A breaking sound echoed through the gym.
Aizawa paused, then calmly brought out a bigger machine. "It broke. Use this one instead."
Everyone stared, waiting to see how far it would go.
Arthur thought for a second and intentionally held The World back.
Instead of testing raw power, he decided to test control.
Standing nearby, Aizawa watched as the number slowly climbed.
Unlike everyone else who just squeezed as hard as possible, the value went up steadily.
He's controlling it on purpose?
Aizawa immediately caught on.
Finally, the number stopped.
"1111.11 KG."
"…That's insane! 1111 kilos?!"
Minoru Mineta yelled.
Before this, the highest had been Mezo Shoji at just over 500.
This was more than double.
But the smarter students didn't react the same way.
Todoroki, Bakugo, and even Midoriya all noticed something off.
How do you even land exactly on 1111.11?
It had to be intentional.
"Crazy level of control…"
Aizawa looked at The World, thinking to himself.
There was no way that was its full strength.
The side steps test came next.
Mineta also showed off his weird but surprisingly useful Quirk.
People always say there's no such thing as a useless Quirk.
Since the grip test, Arthur hadn't moved from his chair at all.
Everything was being done by The World.
"…He even has juice now?"
Jiro turned and saw Arthur sitting there, legs crossed, casually sipping juice through a straw from who-knows-where.
This was honestly the worst possible way to use a Quirk.
"Then why didn't he use it earlier?"
Todoroki, Midoriya, and a few others started thinking.
Why only use it indoors?
Why not during the sprint or long jump?
They didn't have the answer yet.
But Midoriya, Todoroki, and a few others quietly kept that question in mind.
The last test was the same one Arthur and Katsuki Bakugo had done earlier, the softball throw.
Momo Yaoyorozu and Ochaco Uraraka both somehow scored "infinity."
Uraraka just used Zero Gravity and sent the ball floating up like a balloon straight into the sky.
Yaoyorozu straight up made a drone and had it carry the ball away.
Seeing that, Izuku Midoriya started panicking even more.
Even if he could barely beat a few people just based on physical strength…
Now everyone had at least one solid score.
If this keeps going, I'm definitely getting expelled for coming in last!
As Midoriya stepped up for his turn, people who took the entrance exam with him started whispering.
Mostly because that punch he threw back then was insane.
But it also looked like he couldn't control it at all.
Midoriya clenched his teeth.
If he's going to bet everything, it's on this throw.
He swung the ball with everything he had.
Bang? Bang? Bang?
Nothing happened.
The machine calmly announced, "46 meters."
"W-what… how…"
Midoriya just stared at his hand in shock.
Then Aizawa's voice cut in, colder than usual.
"I erased your Quirk."
Everyone turned at once.
Aizawa's eyes were visible now, glowing faint red from under his hair.
"How did someone like you even get in here…" he said flatly. "You can't control your Quirk. The second you use it, you end up needing someone to save you. Just like the entrance exam. And you still want to be a hero?"
"A Quirk… that erases Quirks?"
Midoriya froze, then suddenly remembered.
Eraser Head.
Bakugo clicked immediately too.
So that's why his Quirk felt off earlier.
"I-I didn't mean that!" Midoriya rushed to explain.
"Doesn't matter if you meant it or not," Aizawa replied. "Someone else still has to deal with it."
He deactivated his Quirk, the pressure easing a bit.
"Throw it. You've got two more tries."
"Tch. Quit dragging this out," Arthur muttered to himself, eyes locked on Midoriya. "Show me what One For All can really do."
Midoriya stood in the circle, silent.
Ten seconds passed.
Then his expression changed.
Resolved.
Everyone noticed it at the same time.
His hand… no, just one finger, started glowing.
"Smash!"
A burst of air exploded out as the ball shot forward, carrying force easily on Bakugo's level.
It flew way up into the sky.
"722.3 meters!"
The machine announced it clearly.
"D-Deku, you!"
Bakugo's face twisted, pride completely shattered.
"T-teacher, I… I can still move!"
Midoriya forced himself to speak through the pain, his finger basically wrecked.
Aizawa paused for a second, then the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
"So this is One For All… yeah, that's something."
Off to the side, Arthur didn't look excited like everyone else.
He was smiling, but it wasn't normal. There was something off about it.
"For you, that's a pretty insane Quirk, Midoriya…"
"Arthur-kun?"
Yaoyorozu, standing next to him, was the only one who noticed.
She hesitated, then quietly stepped closer and took his hand.
For the first time in months.
"Alright, get changed and head back to the classroom."
Aizawa left right after saying that.
Everyone blinked.
Wait… what about expelling someone?
"Deku!"
Bakugo suddenly snapped, storming over to Midoriya.
"How long were you planning to lie to me?!"
"What's going on with those two…"
Yaoyorozu watched, confused, as Midoriya shrank back trying to explain.
"They're both nuts."
Arthur didn't even bother looking back as he walked off.
Honestly, in his eyes, both Midoriya and Bakugo were crazy.
Then again… he might not be that different.
Noticing people staring, Yaoyorozu quickly let go of his hand, cheeks turning a little red.
Behind them, Bakugo and Midoriya were still going at it over his broken finger.
Arthur walked ahead and ran into someone familiar.
All Might.
In full muscle form, barely contained in his hero suit.
"You held back, young Arthur! Having ambition is important!"
He gave a big thumbs up.
Arthur looked at him for a moment, then spoke slowly.
"Midoriya's Quirk is pretty strong, huh?"
"Eh?"
All Might stiffened.
Arthur continued, calm but with a strange edge.
"If it combined with my World… that'd probably be the strongest Stand ever. Don't you think, All Might?"
He smiled, but it didn't feel friendly.
A drop of sweat slid down All Might's temple.
"Haha, y-yeah… that would be something. But, uh, most people only get one Quirk in their life, you know? Haha…"
"Yeah," Arthur said, still smiling. "What a shame."
He walked past him.
"...Young Arthur…"
All Might frowned, watching him leave until he disappeared completely.
