Chapter 74 - Chapter 74 – Clash in the Forbidden Forest

The crimson spell erupting from Lucas's wand wasn't ordinary magic at all.

It was a combination spell.

Soul magic fused with Fiendfyre and a Stunning Charm.

Technically, the Stunning Charm existed purely for cosmetic reasons.

After all, casually firing soul-destroying Dark Magic directly in front of Hagrid might raise uncomfortable questions later.

The black-robed figure reacted instantly.

With shocking speed, it twisted sideways just as the crimson beam grazed past its head.

Then the spell struck a massive tree five metres behind it.

BOOM!

The ancient tree exploded into ash instantly.

Fortunately, Lucas maintained precise control over the Fiendfyre component. The flames vanished immediately afterward instead of spreading through the forest.

The black-robed figure retaliated instantly.

"Avada Kedavra!"

A deadly green flash erupted toward them.

"Hagrid! MOVE!"

Lucas shoved Hagrid violently behind a nearby tree.

Thankfully, his enhanced physical strength made it barely possible to push a half-giant quickly enough.

The Killing Curse tore through the air exactly where Hagrid had stood moments earlier.

Hagrid broke into cold sweat instantly.

Meanwhile, Lucas's wand flicked sharply.

Leaves across the forest floor suddenly rose into the air before transforming rapidly into hundreds of razor-sharp swords.

"Go."

The transformed blades shot toward the black-robed figure like a deadly storm.

For a brief moment, the figure appeared frozen.

Then suddenly—

Its body exploded into black mist.

The sword barrage tore harmlessly through empty air before embedding deeply into the ground.

Lucas narrowed his eyes immediately.

That transformation.

So Voldemort wasn't controlling Quirrell directly right now.

Interesting.

More importantly…

It looked like Voldemort genuinely intended to confront him personally tonight.

The black mist rapidly condensed again nearby into Quirrell's robed figure.

Lucas and Voldemort raised their wands simultaneously.

"Soul Rend!"

"Avada Kedavra!"

The moment Voldemort saw the strange purple spell flying toward him, overwhelming danger suddenly exploded through his instincts.

He didn't understand the magic.

But he understood one thing clearly.

That spell was horrifying.

Voldemort immediately abandoned all thoughts of attacking and dodged sideways at full speed.

Meanwhile, Lucas casually transfigured a nearby stone into a circular shield that intercepted the Killing Curse directly.

The rock exploded into dust instantly.

"Hagrid!" Lucas shouted sharply. "Get help! I'll hold him off!"

At the same time, more purple soul spells erupted continuously from Lucas's wand.

Voldemort dodged each one desperately.

The purple beams passed harmlessly through trees, earth, and stone without causing visible damage.

To ordinary eyes, they looked almost harmless.

But Voldemort sensed it instinctively.

Those spells carried terrifying magic targeting something far deeper than the body itself.

Of course, he couldn't know the truth.

Soul magic affected only souls.

Nothing else.

Voldemort's unease deepened rapidly.

Quirrell's body couldn't sustain prolonged combat in its current condition.

More importantly…

Lucas Summers's strength exceeded every expectation he'd formed.

This wasn't an unusually talented student anymore.

This was something genuinely dangerous.

Still, Voldemort hesitated slightly.

Because this boy was supposed to become his future ally.

His successor.

His chosen heir.

Then suddenly, Voldemort opened his mouth.

Orange flames erupted outward violently.

The fire transformed instantly into a massive serpent that lunged toward Lucas.

At the same time, Voldemort turned and fled deeper into the forest.

He knew Lucas had already studied the notebook.

Which meant he absolutely should recognise Fiendfyre.

Lucas's eyes sharpened immediately.

His wand slashed downward.

Dark blue flames burst forward and transformed into a majestic phoenix composed entirely of Fiendfyre.

The phoenix collided directly with the blazing serpent.

BOOM!

The collision exploded violently across the forest.

The two monstrous flames twisted around each other savagely while trees nearby shattered from the shockwaves.

Lucas continuously controlled the phoenix, driving it repeatedly into Voldemort's serpent.

The scene looked absolutely terrifying.

And very, very visible.

Honestly, Lucas suspected Dumbledore had probably already noticed the explosion from half the castle away.

Fortunately, the blue phoenix gradually overwhelmed the orange serpent.

Finally, Lucas planted his wand directly against the ground.

"Finite Incantatem!"

The forest trembled.

Both Fiendfyres struggled violently against the counter-curse.

Normally, ending Fiendfyre required multiple powerful wizards working together.

But now Lucas forced both flames into collapse entirely by himself.

Moments later, the forest fell silent.

The fire vanished completely.

And Voldemort was gone.

Everything nearby had been reduced to black ash beneath the Fiendfyre collision.

Lucas exhaled slowly.

At least Hagrid had escaped earlier.

Otherwise the half-giant probably would've died in the middle of that battle.

Voices echoed faintly through the forest now.

Hagrid had clearly found reinforcements.

Lucas immediately developed a headache.

Explaining all this would be deeply annoying.

Especially the Fiendfyre part.

So after several seconds of thought, Lucas made a strategic decision.

If explaining was troublesome…

Then simply avoid explaining entirely.

He spotted Dumbledore approaching rapidly through the forest.

Without hesitation, Lucas immediately shut his eyes.

"Ah," he muttered faintly. "I've fainted."

Then he collapsed dramatically onto the ground.

Several moments later, Hagrid returned alongside Dumbledore.

The instant Hagrid saw Lucas lying motionless among the ashes, his face turned white.

"No…"

The half-giant nearly dropped the crossbow.

Lucas had just battled a terrifying dark wizard alone.

How could he possibly survive unharmed?

At that moment, Hagrid felt overwhelming guilt.

Dumbledore knelt immediately beside Lucas and performed several rapid diagnostic spells.

After a few seconds, however, his expression relaxed slightly.

Honestly, Lucas's performance was extremely convincing.

He'd secretly transferred most of his magical power into the silent magical reservoir inside himself beforehand.

As a result, he now genuinely appeared completely exhausted and magically drained.

Everything else could simply be explained by Hagrid later.

Fortunately, Hagrid hadn't witnessed the Fiendfyre exchange clearly.

As long as Lucas claimed he'd merely used Finite Incantatem repeatedly before collapsing from magical exhaustion, the explanation remained believable enough.

Especially since Dumbledore already assumed Lucas's abnormal magic reserves came from his silent-casting talent.

"Relax, Hagrid," Dumbledore said calmly. "Lucas merely exhausted himself and fainted."

"Please carry him to the Hospital Wing."

Then Dumbledore stood and continued deeper into the forest personally, searching for traces of the mysterious dark wizard.

Hagrid nearly cried from relief.

Quickly scooping Lucas into his arms, the giant hurried toward Hogwarts.

Neither of them noticed the faint white shadow quietly slipping into Lucas's right hand during the confusion.

Meanwhile, Dumbledore found absolutely nothing useful at the battlefield.

The entire area had been devastated beyond recognition.

Naturally, he couldn't determine that two separate Fiendfyres had collided there earlier.

By now, several other professors had arrived at the edge of the forest after witnessing the explosions from Hogwarts.

The moment Professor McGonagall saw Hagrid carrying Lucas limply in his arms, her face lost all colour.

For one horrifying second, she genuinely thought he was dead.

"Oh no…"

She clutched her chest tightly.

"I never should have sent him into the Forbidden Forest…"

Her voice sounded devastated.

Hagrid hurriedly explained immediately.

"Professor McGonagall! He's alright!"

"He just fainted from magical exhaustion. I'm taking him to Madam Pomfrey now!"
