Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 – A Dangerous First Impression

"Ding! The host kills decisively and perfectly embodies the image of a posi—"

The system paused awkwardly.

"—positive white wizard! The system is extremely gratified! Congratulations to the host for receiving Charm +9!"

"Charm?" Lucas frowned. "I'm pretty sure there wasn't even a Charm stat before."

By now, he had already become completely accustomed to the system's daily nonsense.

"Ding! If the system says there is one, then there is one!"

A moment later, Lucas watched in disbelief as his status panel visibly shifted. Beneath the magic-related attributes, an empty line suddenly appeared as if someone had pressed the Enter key manually. Then, letter by letter, a new attribute formed.

[Charm: 10]

Apparently, his previous Charm value had only been 1.

Lucas reopened the panel fully.

...

[Mana: 11]

[Charm: 10]

[Remaining Skill Points: 0]

...

"So you can literally edit the panel whenever you feel like it?" Lucas muttered.

He still had no idea what use Charm points actually served.

"Ding! This system absolutely refuses to allow another Dark Lord to look like Voldy Pants!"

Lucas nearly choked.

"Oh, so you finally stopped pretending? We're just openly admitting it now?"

"Ding! Does the host perhaps dislike the system? After all, you wouldn't want to become some emotionally unstable future dark wizard without proper guidance, correct?"

"Give me ten Skill Points and I'll forget this conversation immediately."

"Ding! One Skill Point. Final offer."

"Deal."

Lucas accepted instantly without hesitation.

Free rewards were free rewards.

At this point, he had already realized the system was deeply questionable from top to bottom. Still, unless it suddenly tried possessing him or blowing him up, he intended to continue taking advantage of every benefit it offered.

Suddenly, Lucas sensed movement behind him.

He turned around and discovered the blonde girl had somehow managed to stand up while he was distracted.

"Y-You…" The girl straightened instinctively and tried to regain her composure. "Hello. My name is Cassandra Vole. Although I didn't actually need your help. I already had a way to escape myself."

Her voice remained proud and composed on the surface.

"But… thank you anyway. The Vole family will properly repay you."

Unfortunately, her trembling breathing and pale face completely betrayed how frightened she still was.

Which honestly made perfect sense.

After all, she had just witnessed someone casually using both the Killing Curse and the Cruciatus Curse without the slightest hesitation.

And she was only eleven years old.

Meanwhile, Lucas finally recognized her properly.

Cassandra Vole.

No wonder she had seemed familiar.

She was a character from Hogwarts Mystery.

The memory almost made him laugh. Back in his previous life, whenever he encountered Cassandra in PvP, he'd immediately get blasted into orbit by her spell combos.

What surprised him far less was the fact she existed here at all.

At this point, Lucas had already transmigrated into a fictional world. Compared to that, mobile game characters appearing in canon barely even registered anymore.

"Hello, Miss Vole." Lucas smiled politely while putting away his wand. "No need to thank me."

Then he immediately crouched down and began searching the corpses with impressive professionalism.

A few moments later, he collected several wands, a handful of Sickles, and some scattered Knuts.

Not a single Galleon.

Lucas clicked his tongue in disappointment.

Unbelievable.

Did that mean Rex had actually been the richest werewolf he'd encountered so far?

At least that guy had possessed Galleons.

After finishing the search, Lucas picked up one particular wand before turning back toward Cassandra.

"This should be yours."

Because of his item-inspection ability, identifying her wand had been incredibly easy. It was practically brand new compared to the others and clearly belonged to someone who had only recently purchased it.

Cassandra visibly flinched before slowly accepting the wand.

Lucas assumed she was simply still frightened.

After all, she was only a little girl around eleven or twelve years old.

What he completely forgot was that physically, he was also only eleven or twelve years old himself.

In reality, Cassandra had mostly recovered from her fear already. She was naturally bold by temperament.

The reason she kept staring blankly was something entirely different.

Only after getting closer did she finally realize that the terrifying wizard who had descended from the sky and slaughtered several werewolves was actually a boy around her own age.

She genuinely couldn't connect the thin, ragged child standing before her with the cold figure who had casually cast Unforgivable Curses moments earlier.

But more importantly—

He was ridiculously good-looking.

And not just because of his appearance.

Although Lucas looked thin from malnutrition, with messy black hair and pale skin, there was something strangely elegant and approachable about him. An indescribable sense of warmth surrounded him naturally, making people instinctively relax around him despite the danger he represented.

Especially when he smiled.

Every time he smiled, Cassandra felt her heartbeat suddenly speed up uncontrollably.

It wasn't until she accepted her wand that she barely managed to recover her senses.

Naturally, Lucas himself remained completely unaware that after receiving Charm +9 from the system, his appearance in Cassandra's eyes had practically gained glowing special effects.

"Hey…" Cassandra finally spoke again. "Don't you think it's rude not to introduce yourself after a lady introduces herself first?"

The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted them immediately.

Why did that sound so aggressive?!

This boy could literally cast Avada Kedavra without blinking!

Thinking about it made her panic all over again, and her tone softened involuntarily.

"At the very least… you should tell me your name."

Lucas blinked before smiling awkwardly.

He had honestly forgotten she was still standing there while he searched the bodies. Looking back, that really was pretty rude.

"Sorry about that." He rubbed the back of his head lightly. "My name is Lucas Summers."

Then he added very seriously:

"Just call me Lucas. Don't call me Solstice."

Somehow, he suddenly remembered Cho Chang from the original books and immediately decided he wasn't taking any risks with weird name pronunciations.

Cassandra's cheeks turned faintly pink.

Damn it.

He smiled again.

Meanwhile, Lucas paid no attention to her reaction whatsoever.

"By the way," he asked curiously, "why are you here? This isn't exactly a place someone our age should be wandering around."

Cassandra immediately regained some of her usual sharpness.

"You're our age too. Why are you here?"

Even now, she still couldn't completely soften her attitude around him.

There was something strangely disarming about Lucas. His presence made people instinctively lower their guard, as though pretending or maintaining masks around him became difficult.

Lucas's smile gradually faded.

A trace of sadness appeared in his eyes.

As more of the original owner's memories slowly returned, Lucas found himself feeling increasingly sympathetic toward the boy's tragic experiences.

"I?" he said quietly. "I was captured by them."

Cassandra immediately noticed the sadness in his expression.

For some reason, her chest tightened painfully.

Why did he look so lonely?

What exactly had he gone through?

And why did seeing that expression suddenly make her feel upset too?

At the same time, countless questions flooded her mind.

Why could he transform into black mist?

Why was someone his age strong enough to slaughter dark wizards effortlessly?

And perhaps most importantly—

Who exactly was this mysterious boy who had fallen from the sky to save her life?
