Chapter 14 - CH 11: SP: Ultimate Media

"SP conditions met. SP granted to Lily Chang, congratulations."

[ Special Power: Ultimate Writing

Description:

- Awakener is granted pens, pencils, a paintbrush, and rolled-up paper (in scroll form) .

- These items can vary in size, depending on the awakener's request. Writing on paper allows for limited warping of reality.

- Writing with pens on paper grants the awakener the ability to analyze their target (background, powers, etc provided)

- Writing with pencils on paper is only for the support of people, including the awakener

- Writing with the paintbrush on paper can warp reality itself (limited), allowing for damage and wishes to be made

- Requests written on paper with any utensil must be specific enough for SP's understanding

Example of takeable requests on paper: "Heal my leg", "Remove – legs"

CAN BE EVOLVED

*NOTE TO AWAKENER: This SP takes up more strength than the average SP. Usage is more limited than usual. SP is still limited in usage.]

Huh? It felt like my entire body and my mouth were screaming. Is this supposed to happen?

A crushing pressure squeezed my ribcage hard, squeezing tighter until it felt like my body was rejecting my existence. My heartbeat thundered within my ears, each pounding rattling my skull and my bones. The heat surged upwards from my spine, colliding with all veins and moving to the tips of my fingers. My knees buckled as the floor tilted back to its original axis.

I was helpless, as my body became to rewrite itself. But the pain soon turned into a sense of satisfaction, as if I was waiting to achieve this sort of adrenaline.

–

It felt like I inherently knew how to use the SP, like a distant memory you never remember learning. Just as children learn their ABCs or how to breathe in using their nose. Like I knew how to control the strength and power within me.

I knew exactly what it meant to warp reality with my words.

A large wooden paintbrush, pencils, pens, and a long paper scroll formed around my back.

{Heal Jeffery Simon's injuries}

I didn't even lift my finger, yet one of the many forming pencils floating around me began scribbling away onto the flowing, lengthy blank scroll. I heard a gasp behind me, knowing that Mr. Simon's wounds had magically healed. I slowly curled my head up, now eye to eye with the Koi.

"SP Awakening? Hm… well, do you now know who the blue heron is?"

Stupid Koi, my head started to blare more violently as some of my strength left me.

"Shut it. I'll find out in a second." Looking back on it, the Koi was definitely going easy on me. I had no idea why I said that, but I was grateful that the calamity's confusion or boredom bought me more time.

The blue pen zipped to the scroll, as the paper continued to uncoil. The paper proceeded to wrap around me, almost as if it were trying to hug me. With the pen, it began to write:

{Who is the Blue Heron?}

***

Where am I?

It was as if I were in a dream, as different people phased right through my intangible body.

This scene…

The scenery before me rippled into something unknown.

In front was the same Koi that was just in my preview, sitting down. Except his hair wasn't dyed in different colors, nor were scales appearing on his body. He looked human, enough. He just sat there, in front of a gravestone.

'Here rests Kim Jiwoo

— to —.'

I slowly walked towards him, as blades of grass itched and scratched my ankles. The far mellows stretched below my line of view, waving along with every step I took.

This is… this is the Koi's memory, is it not?

"Hey." No response. Guess he doesn't know I'm here. But, unexpectedly, his shoulders began shaking. "What the…"

A pathetic noise shook the air. Seriously? No way… The human form (most likely the past) of the Koi began to sob loudly, crouching even closer to the gravestone. The sobbing began to grow more intense and intense. I would've felt bad for him if it weren't for the fact that he injured my teacher.

Then he stopped. He only stared and looked forward at the gravestone.

Who is this Jiwoo? Is she a lover, a friend? Maybe a sibling? Also, if this calamity is from a different planet, then why does his friend, or whoever she is, have a Korean name? Are races and ethnicities on this planet also on other planets? I'm getting confused.

Then he parted his lips, while the wind shook his hair that covered his closed eyes.

"I'll meet you soon."

Huh?

"Hey, you! Koi fish! Calamity, what do you mean? Wasn't this supposed to tell me who the blue heron is?"

The space around me began to fade away, and soon everything collapsed. It was like I was falling through thin space and air itself. My head began to spin 4-dimensionally, disconnecting itself from the reality in front of me.

***

I gasped, pulling myself together, limbs all tangled on the floor beside me. It seemed like time didn't move at all during my stay in the dream-like landscape, the landscape that was supposed to tell me who the blue heron was.

There's no other possibility.

"..." The Koi only stood there, wide-eyed. "Do you know who?"

"What? Asking me such a question? You forgot, didn't you? Even though you promised to meet her again."

The water around his body began to form, straight rods pointed only inches from me.

"Don't try to play yourself out of this calamity event."

"I'm not. But there's a reason why you haven't killed me, right?"

"..."

"Unbelievable." I scoffed at the calamity's silence, ignoring the trembling senses that told me to stay still. "Well, I don't want to die so…"

"..."

"The blue heron's identity is Kim Jiwoo."
