Chapter 2 - When Thunder Judges the Sky

When Thunder Judges the Sky

Anna looked at the terrifying robbery light in the clouds, and stammered, "Leo...Leon, you are fine with this last lightning disaster, right?"

Her voice—usually cold, steady, untouchable—fractured in a way the world had never heard before.

Leon was a little dazed.

It was the first time he saw Anna stammering.

"I'm asking you something!" Anna's voice trembled, and her beautiful crimson eyes were full of worry.

That hit him harder than the thunder above.

For a moment, everything blurred.

The sky.

The storm.

Even the pressure of the coming catastrophe.

All of it faded behind the sight of her.

Looking at the girl who was superior to others and spoke coldly, but was so close to him, Leon was in a trance, thinking of what had happened all the time.

He wasn't supposed to be here.

Not originally.

He is actually not from this world, he is from Earth, and he can't remember how long he has transmigrated here. This world—Coreland—was once just a story to him, a world he admired, followed, obsessed over.

And then… he woke up inside it.

Not as a human.

But as something far more terrifying.

The Five Eyes Fortune Dragon.

An existence blessed by fate itself.

Unfortunately, there is no golden finger for him.

No system at the start. No easy path. No shortcuts.

Just raw existence… and survival.

But fortunately, after crossing, he became the strongest luck spirit beast—the Five Eyes Fortune Dragon of the Emperor Auspicious Beast lineage.

Not to mention the insanely terrifying talent.

Any Magical Beast around him would grow stronger just by being near him.

Fate bent around him.

Fortune gathered toward him.

Enemies?

There were none.

And so… he rose.

Naturally.

Effortlessly.

Like something that was always meant to stand above everything.

Combined with human experience to get along with an inexperienced Anna, it is natural that they are like ducks in water, and they get along with each other very quickly, and she also found him very interesting.

Back then, she was distant.

Cold.

Untouchable.

Now?

She still acted that way.

But only to others.

With him… there were cracks.

Small ones.

But real.

But in order to deal with the abnormal catastrophe…

Leon spends almost all of his time scrambling to cultivate crazily, and he doesn't dare to slack off at all, basically never leaving the Starfall Woodland.

Because he knew.

From the very beginning—

This world was not kind to Magical Beasts.

Especially not to ones like him.

But since arriving in this world so long in advance, Leon must have prevented some tragedies.

For example, he went out a few years ago.

That memory surfaced clearly.

A dark chamber.

Chains.

A broken woman sitting against cold stone walls.

Evelyn.

Back then, she hadn't yet become the Supreme Empress of the Soulforge Citadel.

She was just… a woman pushed to the edge.

"I remember," Leon murmured faintly, half to himself.

Anna glanced at him. "What?"

Leon smirked slightly, eyes distant. "Saved someone from a place she should never have been in."

He could still hear it—

Her shaky breath.

Her disbelief.

Her voice when she asked him, almost broken—

"Why… would you help me?"

Leon had just shrugged back then.

"Because I can."

And the man who tried to defile her?

He didn't get a second breath.

Another example, a few years ago, Selena's intellectual and beautiful mother was rescued by him from the Soulforge Citadel hunt.

That day was soaked in blood.

Not his.

Theirs.

"I also remember someone else," Leon added quietly.

Anna narrowed her eyes slightly. "Another woman?"

Leon chuckled. "Jealous?"

"Don't be ridiculous."

But her gaze lingered.

He continued anyway.

"She looked at me like I was the only thing left in her world."

He still remembers the young woman's unrequited eyes.

That kind of gaze—

Pure.

Unprotected.

Dangerous.

"Did you fall for it?" Anna asked, her tone suddenly sharper.

Leon shook his head lightly.

"To be honest, a mature young woman is like a ripe peach, which is really attractive."

Anna's brows twitched.

"But I'm a decent person," Leon added casually. "Cultivation is important."

Anna scoffed.

"Decent? You?"

Leon grinned. "I have standards."

"Yeah," she muttered. "Low ones."

"Boom!"

A thunderstorm exploded across the sky.

Reality snapped back into place.

The clouds above twisted violently, blood-red lightning crawling like living veins across the heavens.

Anna was pursing her lips, looking at him worriedly asked again, "Leon, are you going fine?"

Leon looked at her.

Really looked.

Then smiled.

Calm.

Steady.

"What if I am sure… what if I am not sure?"

Anna froze slightly.

He turned his gaze back to the sky.

"Soldiers, nature, all creatures come to block what comes… but water always finds its way."

His voice was quiet.

But certain.

"What's already decided… worrying won't change it."

Seeing the man's calm demeanor, Anna bit her moist lips, and silently clenched her fists.

Leon noticed.

Of course he did.

He reached out, taking her hand gently.

Her fingers were tense.

Cold.

He loosened them carefully.

"Don't be nervous," he said with a light smile. "It's just a small catastrophe. I'll break it… and ascend."

Anna shook her head again and again, something dark flashing in her eyes.

"There is no virtue in the God Realm… they don't even want to let a single Magical Beast ascend. I'm afraid it won't be so easy for you to survive this million-year beast god calamity!"

Leon smiled faintly.

Then—

He looked up.

His figure straightened.

Like a spear piercing the sky.

The wind howled, his black hair whipping wildly, golden eyes blazing.

"It's not the first time for me… and you know what kind of assholes are in the God Realm."

A pause.

A sharp grin.

"You want to make things difficult for me? Then come."

His voice dropped.

"Let's see what they can fucking do."

Anna stared at him.

Something flickered deep in her eyes.

Respect.

Fear.

Something more dangerous than both.

"Boom!"

Thousands of blood-colored thunder dragons surged through the sky, roaring like the end of the world itself.

The forest trembled.

Millions of Magical Beasts dropped to the ground, shaking uncontrollably.

"Is… is this even survivable…?"

"Lord Beast God…"

"Will he…"

Fear spread like wildfire.

Leon turned.

Then slowly rose into the air.

Floating.

Effortless.

Above everything.

"This calamity is coming for me, all the beasts are safe, don't panic!"

His voice exploded outward.

Rolling across the forest like thunder.

And just like that—

The panic stopped.

Not completely.

But enough.

Because he said so.

Anna looked up at him, her chest rising unevenly.

"Leon, how likely are you to overcome the tribulation!"

Leon glanced back.

That same damn playful look.

"Actually… I'm not so sure…"

Anna froze.

"What?"

Then—

"You're going to die and you still have time to joke?!" she snapped, anger breaking through fear.

Leon's smile faded.

His expression turned serious.

"You are optimistic… in fact, what I want to do today is not to overcome the tribulation, but…"

A pause.

The sky roared.

"Turn over the sky!"

Anna's pupils shrank.

For a moment—

She understood.

This man…

He was never planning to survive.

He was planning to challenge.

To defy.

To break the very system that tried to suppress him.

Her heart tightened.

Hard.

"This idiot…" she whispered, lips pale.

Then her aura surged.

"No! No matter what, I will save him! Even if I am discovered by the God Realm, I will save him!"

Power gathered around her, wild and unstable.

"Damn man! If you really have no idea, don't hold on, you still have me!!"

Below—

The Azure Horn Serpent and Warlord Ape trembled.

"Brother… can Lord Beast God overthrow this thundercloud?"

"Are you stupid? Look at it! Does that look survivable?!"

The serpent sighed heavily.

"With the power of a beast… surviving is already hard. Fighting the sky? That's madness…"

Then—

A roar.

"Hold your ground!"

Golden light erupted.

A massive divine beast phantom—thousands of feet tall—burst into existence, flames swirling, claws tearing space itself.

It didn't wait.

It didn't hesitate.

It charged.

Straight into the thundercloud.

"Fuck—Lord Beast God is that fierce??!"

"This is insane—!"

The Azure Horn Serpent was stunned.

"This… this isn't how tribulations work—"

Anna's voice tore through the sky.

"Leon, are you crazy??"

Her heart pounded violently.

"What are you doing! Burning your soul core—you don't want your millions of years of cultivation?!"

Too late.

The golden beast slammed into the thundercloud.

Light exploded.

Everything went white—

Then—

Silence.

The storm vanished.

The sky cleared.

Sunlight returned like nothing had happened.

"It's done… it's really done! Lord Beast God did it!" the Warlord Ape shouted.

"Idiot!" the serpent roared, smashing him down. "He burned everything to do that!"

"What…?"

The ape froze.

"…No way… he's… gone?"

Anna floated in the air.

Still.

Empty.

Searching.

A single tear slipped down.

Then another.

Her vision blurred.

Her fists clenched until blood seeped from her palms.

She looked up.

"God Realm… you slaughter my people… and now take the only one close to my heart…"

Her voice turned cold.

Terrifying.

"I swear… I will destroy you."

Then—

Her voice broke.

"You stupid man… if you couldn't do it, you should've asked me… I would've helped…"

Tears fell faster now.

"You just had to act cool… you asshole…"

"Who's the jerk?"

Anna froze.

"Leon?"

Her head snapped around.

There—

A twenty-four-petaled golden lotus floated silently.

Radiant.

Alive.

"What… is this…?"

Her breath hitched.

It pulsed.

Like a heartbeat.

"Little Annie, explain something to me… what do you mean I pretended to die?"

"Leon? Are you inside?? What is this, what's going on!"

She stepped closer, touching it carefully.

Warm.

Strange.

Alive.

"You take me back to the cave first… let me recover… I'll explain everything there."

Inside—

Leon didn't respond further.

Because his mind was flooded.
