Chapter 1 - Chapter-1: The Devil's Eyes

Aria Rahman had been trained to face death.

But no one had trained her for him.

The moment she stepped into the dimly lit club, the air shifted thick with smoke, danger, and power.

This was his territory.

And everyone knew it.

Adrian Volkov.

The man people feared even whispering about.

Aria walked forward, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor, her expression calm carefully crafted.

Tonight, she wasn't an agent.

Tonight, she was Lina.

Just another girl desperate for work.

A lie.

A perfect one.

"Stop."

The single word cut through the air like a blade.

Aria froze.

Then slowly, she lifted her gaze

And met his eyes.

Dark.

Cold.

Unforgiving.

Adrian Volkov sat in the shadows, one hand resting lazily against the armrest, but his presence filled the entire room.

Like a predator watching its prey.

"Name," he said.

Simple.

Deadly.

Aria forced her heartbeat to slow.

"Lina," she replied smoothly. "I heard you're looking for dancers."

Silence.

Too much silence.

Adrian didn't respond immediately.

Instead, his eyes scanned her slowly, carefully like he was reading something no one else could see.

Then

A faint smirk touched his lips.

"Step closer."

A command.

Not a request.

Aria obeyed.

One step.

Two steps.

Closer to danger.

Closer to him.

"Look at me," Adrian said.

She already was.

But this time, she didn't hide it.

Didn't pretend.

Their eyes locked and something shifted.

Something dangerous.

Most people looked away.

Most people feared him.

But she didn't.

And that… caught his attention.

"Interesting," Adrian murmured.

"You're either very brave… or very stupid."

Aria tilted her head slightly.

"Maybe neither."

Another pause.

Another silent battle.

Then Adrian leaned forward slightly, his gaze sharpening.

"Tell me, Lina," he said softly,

"why do I feel like I've seen you before?"

For a split second

Her heart stopped.

But her face didn't show it.

"Maybe you have," she replied calmly. "People like me are easy to forget."

Adrian's smirk deepened.

"No," he said.

"Not you."

The air grew heavier.

More dangerous.

Aria forced herself to stay steady.

She was close.

Closer than expected.

This was working.

Everything was going according to plan.

Or so she thought.

Adrian suddenly stood up.

Slowly.

Gracefully.

Like a predator finally deciding to move.

He walked toward her each step deliberate, controlled.

Aria didn't move.

Wouldn't move.

Even when he stopped right in front of her.

Too close.

Way too close.

He leaned in slightly

His voice dropping to a whisper only she could hear.

"If you're lying…" he said quietly,

"you won't make it out of here alive."

A threat.

Clear.

Cold.

Aria met his gaze without hesitation.

"Then it's a good thing I'm not lying."

A lie.

A dangerous one.

For a moment, Adrian said nothing.

Then he stepped back.

Just enough to break the tension.

"Fine," he said casually. "You can stay."

Aria's chest tightened.

That was it?

No questions?

Too easy.

Way too easy.

But she didn't show her suspicion.

Instead, she nodded slightly.

"Thank you."

Adrian turned away, as if already bored.

But just before she could relax

He spoke again.

"Welcome to my world, Lina."

Aria paused.

Something in his tone…

felt wrong.

Slowly...

Very slowly...

Adrian glanced over his shoulder.

And smiled.

Dark.

Knowing.

Terrifying.

"Or should I say…" he said softly,

"Agent Aria Rahman."
