Chapter 2 - Jackpot

After several days of repeated exploration and experimentation, Nick could finally confirm that something incredible had happened to him after his head was split open by hail that day.

A massive amount of information had suddenly appeared inside his brain. Even more shocking was that this information was all related to science and technology, and most of it was clearly beyond his current level of understanding or acceptance.

Although he usually read some science and technology publications and books, it was clear that the information in his mind was completely beyond what he could encounter or understand at his current stage.

It was like an elementary school student suddenly having knowledge and theories that could only be encountered in university inside their head. Or, like a university student suddenly having scientific research results that even experts and scholars who had studied in various professional fields for a lifetime could not hope to reach.

A rough estimate suggested that even if a person started learning from birth, the information that had suddenly appeared in his head would be enough for that person to study and research for ten thousand years or even longer. Yet now, this information had appeared out of thin air in his brain.

A great scientist could only achieve some success in one or a few fields throughout their entire life. But the things that appeared in his mind included almost all current human disciplines, and even contained a lot of information that humans could not touch or even understand.

Although his grasp of this information was still vague, he had extracted a few key terms from this massive amount of data. Such as cosmic mechanics, stellar and black hole astrophysics, space discontinuity theory, space folding, and wormhole construction technology...

When he wanted to explore further, intense physical reactions forced him to stop.

About twenty minutes was the limit each time; by twenty-five minutes, a severe headache would start, and at thirty minutes, he would become dizzy and gradually lose consciousness.

Furthermore, he could only use it once a day, or at most twice. Exceeding twice would result in persistent headaches and high fevers.

Still feeling lingering fear, he had finally witnessed the serious consequences of over-exploration. So, from then on, he was always cautious, ensuring he finished his exploration and visualization in about twenty minutes, and kept it within twice a day.

But even so, the content he explored and associated still left him dumbfounded.

This was definitely not knowledge that Earth currently possessed, which meant that the information in his head might have come from outside this world.

Nick boldly guessed two possibilities: one was that this might be information transmitted by a legendary alien civilization, and the other was that it might be information transmitted back from the future world through some method of time travel.

But regardless of which possibility it was, one thing was certain: the appearance of this information on him was definitely an accident.

After all, in his view, for either of these possibilities, he, who was unremarkable in every aspect, was definitely not the best candidate to have this information instilled into.

So, after gradually adapting to all of this, he realized that he had won a legendary super jackpot.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but start daydreaming.

How he would use the things in his brain to marry a beautiful, wealthy woman and reach the pinnacle of his life!

If possible, it would be even better to keep a mistress? Pfft, pfft, I'm thinking too far ahead; I'm a very innocent person.

"Barney, are you okay man?" Just as he was daydreaming, Tyler's voice suddenly came to his ears.

Reacting, Nick was startled to see the chubby guy standing by his bed. As if caught with a secret, he quickly shook his head and said, "I'm fine. What could possibly be wrong with me? You're overthinking it.."

"Are you really okay? I've felt like you've been acting weird these past few days. You don't go looking for work, and you don't go out to have fun either...

Every day you're either lying in bed sleeping or sitting in front of the computer writing some messy code and materials. Every time I ask you, you don't say anything, let alone pay attention to me, as if you're possessed..."

Tyler stared at him and asked in a probing tone, "You didn't get your brain damaged by the hail, did you? Should we go to a big hospital and get it checked out? Let me tell you, those people at the school infirmary are completely unreliable.."

"I'm really fine. It's just that I suddenly figured some things out these past few days," Nick said with a smile, looking at Tyler.

"Figured things out?" Tyler said, a bit confused.

Nick nodded and said, "Yes, figured it out. Why should I hang myself on one tree? If we can't find jobs, we can start a business.."

"Start a business? We? Why do you suddenly have this idea?" Tyler asked in surprise.

Nick sighed and said, "I've always had it, just never made up my mind..."

Nick had thought about starting a business before, but it had never been as intense as it was now.

The reason he had this plan now stemmed from his exploration of the data in his brain over the past few days, which had reignited his passion to strive for something.

Since God had given him such an opportunity, he naturally didn't want to waste it just like that.

"Are you serious? Like for real?" Tyler asked him earnestly.

"Never been more serious..."

Nick nodded and asked back, "How about it? Are you willing to work with me?.

"Me?" Tyler was stunned for a moment and hesitated.

Nick stared into Tyler's eyes and said seriously, "Yes, you. Although your professional grades aren't great, and you're cowardly, lecherous, gluttonous, and stingy, but you're my buddy after all. Plus, you're quite good at dealing with people, and I'm not good at those things..

How about it? Come help me. You're idle anyway, might as well find something to do..

"Get lost!" Tyler rolled his eyes and said irritably, "Am I really as bad as you say? Besides, I don't even know what your startup project is yet..."

Speaking of this, Tyler clearly thought of something, then grinned and teased him, "I say, bro, you wouldn't still be thinking of dragging me to set up a stall outside the east gate to sell hot dogs, would you? I left that life behind."

At this, a few black lines couldn't help but appear on Nick's forehead. This was actually a joke from their sophomore year; he didn't expect this guy to still remember it.

At that time, they had all just started hanging out and were short on money. They happened to see the hawker selling hotdogs outside the school's east gate doing brisk business, so he and Tyler and a few others had considered whether they should go out and set up a stall to sell as well.

Seeing the joking expression on Tyler's face, Nick knew he had to bring out something that could convince this guy.

So he opened the document on his laptop and handed it to the guy, saying, "This is what I've been working on for the past few days. Take a look at it first..."

"What is it?" Tyler glanced at him, then stared at the screen with confusion. At first, his expression was relaxed, but after a while, it became serious and earnest.

And this lasted for more than half an hour before Tyler stood up. He hurriedly went to the restroom and then walked out with a relaxed expression.

"Had to take a shit, I was reading too much bullshit."
