Chapter 2: Are You Really Quitting Your Job?

As Bai Feng stared at the bank balance Zhu Guo Han showed him, his mouth twitched slightly in surprise.

'Is this what you meant by "this is all"?'

'Damn! Five hundred thousand? I thought a hundred thousand would have been plenty.'

Indeed, Zhu Guo Han's personal savings alone amounted to 500,000. Bai Feng glanced down at his phone beneath the table.

'I thought I was the one who knew how to save, but Zhu Guo Han is even better at it than I am.'

350,000...

Bai Feng's own savings were 350,000. He was far behind Zhu Guo Han. However, with a combined total of 850,000, it wasn't bad at all. His own plans began racing through his mind, one after another. Returning to the past was truly a gift from the heavens.

After the dishes they ordered arrived, Zhu Guo Han asked while eating a piece of Sweet and Sour Pork, "It feels like our accounting department has been getting more and more chaotic lately."

"Oh? You're only just noticing now?" Bai Feng replied indifferently, taking a sip of water. Then, he looked at Zhu Guo Han and spoke with deep seriousness. "Zhu Guo Han, I'm quitting this job next month."

"Cough... Cough!"

Zhu Guo Han choked on his food and had to scramble for some water. He looked at Bai Feng with disbelief. "My friend, what is wrong with you today? Have you gone mad? Do you even know what you're saying?"

"Zhu Guo Han, listen carefully to what I'm about to say. Some things are going to happen soon that you would never imagine. We have to be prepared, understand? Keep that in mind at all times, Zhu Guo Han."

Seeing Bai Feng's dead-serious expression, even Zhu Guo Han found himself drifting into a world of thought. Eventually, he nodded. "Fine. I'll remember what you said. But as for quitting... you should really think it over again."

Bai Feng immediately shook his head. "You'll understand what I'm doing soon enough."

After that, the two stopped arguing and focused on their food. Once they finished eating, Bai Feng settled the bill, bid farewell to Zhu Guo Han, and headed home. Upon arriving home, a sixteen-year-old boy brushed past him and entered a room. Bai Feng let out a sigh of immense relief.

"Bai Yu... he's still alive."

"This time, I will never let Bai Yu go."

His younger brother, Bai Yu, would become a world-renowned Supreme Expert in the future gaming world. However, the secret behind the game was incredibly terrifying. In that cataclysm, Bai Yu, the White Flame Sovereign, one of the supreme beings of the cultivation world, had perished. Since childhood, Bai Yu had been obsessed with games, playing every new release day and night until he mastered it. Bai Feng looked at his brother's room with deep emotion before opening the door to his own room. He collapsed face-down onto his bed and began to reflect.

'I, Feng Ming, was the Sect Leader of the Cloud Sword Spirit Sect with ten thousand disciples. When I first founded the sect, I was only at the Element Manifestation Stage, but I struggled and fought to stabilize my footing in the cultivation world. Eventually, the Cloud Sword Spirit Sect rose from a mid-tier sect to a high-tier one, becoming famous across the Phoenix Land. I once stood above countless people. But in the end, while fighting the Great Cataclysm, I was somehow sent back five years into the past.'

Lost in his thoughts, Bai Feng eventually fell asleep.

Ring... Ring... Ring...

The phone in the room rang incessantly, its noise echoing through the small space. Bai Feng answered groggy with sleep.

"Hello? Who is it?"

"Bai Feng! Why did you disappear during work hours without saying a word? Don't you understand your responsibilities? If I report this to the department manager, do you think you'll still have a job?"

Ignoring the threat, Bai Feng replied in a sleepy voice, "Oh, Director Li? Go ahead and report it then. Do whatever you want. I haven't had enough sleep, don't bother me. Click."

Bai Feng hung up the phone. He didn't want to explain anything anymore. He would be quitting soon to prepare for next month. It was already the 26th, and only a few days remained until the end of the month. Bai Feng went back to sleep.

It wasn't until 4:30 PM that he finally woke up.

"Yawn..."

He yawned and stretched, speaking with satisfaction. "How long has it been since I've had such a good sleep?"

Checking the time, he saw it was past four. Bai Feng changed his clothes and headed to the office. By the time he arrived, it was evening, and the office doors were wide open. He sat down quietly at his desk and turned on the computer. Since it was evening, the department heads had already gone to a meeting. Even Zhu Guo Han, as a team leader, had to attend. The other employees simply looked at him but said nothing; after all, Bai Feng held a higher rank than them.

Bai Feng began typing his resignation letter. While many people give various excuses, he filled out the form stating that he chose to resign because he was starting work on things vital to his life. He then printed out the form. At that moment, Zhu Guo Han stepped out of the elevator.

"Bai Feng? How did you get here?"

At the sound of Zhu Guo Han's voice, the two other team leaders, the Assistant Director, and Director Li, who were with him, all looked at Bai Feng. Director Li glanced at the form in Bai Feng's hand and was taken-back.

"Bai Feng, are you really quitting your job?"

"Director Li, I have things I must do, so I am truly resigning."

Hearing this, Director Li sighed. "Fine. I'll submit the resignation for you myself. With my recommendation, you'll at least be able to leave with your full salary."

"Thank you, Director Li."

Bai Feng thanked him while handing over the resignation form.

"It's nothing, kid."
