We left at 5:12am because Dad said that the traffic is better before the sun is up. It's not. It's just cheaper on gas to drive when it is cool.
The car is a 2009 Toyota Corolla that has 187, 000 miles and an AC that only works if that dashboard is hit in the right spot. A little of my things along with Dad's and Percy's are in the truck. Some clothes and a sleeping bag.
The rest would be brought over by the movers. Dad is driving. I'm in the back seat with Percy. Mom is in Alaska. She will come meet us at the location on Friday. I should be feeling happy about this move, but I don't.

Counting down the days from Christmas which is exactly eleven days ago.
But as the days started drawing near, I just. . . I started feeling empty. Tears seeps out the corner of my eyes again. I blink repeatedly and subtly clean it off.
It has been almost two hours. Perhaps a hundred miles off. It feels like leaving a country. A part of myself behind.
