My eyes widened just as I flew to my feet, my heart flying into my throat.
"Wait! I was joking, I'll come work now." I cried, rushing to the doorway. The maid's eyes were twinkling as she scoffed darkly. It was clear she didn't believe my words just now.
"Don't bother, the king already sent for you." She grinned now, folding her arms." I know you don't want to keep him waiting."
My heart pounded so hard in my chest, I felt like I'd be sick.
What the fuck? How the hell did words quickly reach the king that I refused to work this morning?
But that wasn't the case at all. Aside from the fact that it's only been a few minutes, I was only refusing to do any work just to piss Violet off.
It has nothing to do with the king.
