Neo stood alone on the royal balcony. He did not drop his crystal glass of starlight wine. The liquid inside simply ceased to exist. It was erased by the sheer gravitational pressure bleeding into his reality from the outer edges of the sector.
He looked up at the beautifully restored night sky. The stars were blinking out of existence in rapid succession. They were not burning out naturally. They were being swallowed by something impossibly large moving through the unseen cosmic highways.
His quantum predictive processing went into absolute overdrive. The system interface projected a cascading wall of red text across his vision.
[Alert. Spatial coordinates overriding.]
[Alert. Fundamental physics failing in Sector 4.]
[Entity Classification: Primordial.]
[Threat Level: Absolute Extinction.]
Neo crushed the empty crystal glass in his grip. The shards harmlessly absorbed into his pale skin. He turned his back on the dying stars and walked quietly into the palace.
