Chapter 18 - Brie's Birthday Surprise

Sora waited anxiously, constantly asking his system what time it was.

[Sora, relax. They will be back in about five minutes now. You already know Levi, Jubelle and Sasha are going to tell Brie to run inside and grab some things and take off as soon as she enters the house. They shouldn't return until tomorrow morning.]

He paced nervously as his excitement became increasingly difficult to contain. He dressed in a nice all black suit, with a pink dress shirt, teal tie, golden cufflinks and black dress shoes.

Brie stormed in with an angry expression. She closed the door, turned, saw Sora holding flowers and gasped.

"Sora, what's going on?!" She exclaimed.

"Happy Birthday!" He gave her the flowers he held.

"Aw thank you, you shouldn't have! Also, what's up with that dungeon already being cleared? I know we're going on another…"

"You're not going anywhere. I sort of lied and cleared the dungeon myself and planned this out with Levi," Sora admitted. "They're helping Jubelle clear a dungeon to give us alone time."

"Really? All of this?!" Brie screamed with joy.

"Walk with me?" Sora asked.

He grabbed her hand, and they held hands and walked to the garage. She noticed the rose petal path along the way and smiled. As they got to the garage, Brie noticed a blue sports car with a pink bow on it.

"No way! This is mine?"

"I figured that way you don't have to always feel bad about borrowing my car… although I don't know why you feel bad in the first place," Sora shrugged as he spoke.

"Thank you, that's very sweet of you! I love it! It's the brand-new model too! It just came out last month. I bet this thing hits 500 MPH! I can't wait to take it out for a test spin." she cheered.

"No one's stopping you, if you want, go ahead," Sora said.

"No thanks, I'd rather see what else you planned, I see more rose trails!" Brie said excitedly.

She grabbed his hand and walked briskly, following the petals, which eventually led to a room Sora turned into a dining room for the two of them.

Brie loved the intimate setting and smiled at a beautifully set table with a white cloth and pink and blue flower petals on it. Candles illuminated the dimly lit room.

"This is… unbelievable. You really shouldn't have done all of this!"

Sora handed her a beautiful, wrapped present. She opened them and started in awe at their beauty. She held them both near her heart, mouthed, "Thank you," and put the bracelet on. She set the necklace down very carefully on the table.

"These gemstones, I don't recognize them. What are they?" she asked.

"They are from the planet Earth, which existed over 4000 years ago. Each gemstone signified a birth month during this time. July's stone was ruby, so I went with your birthstone and picked a Diamond, which was a super rare, super valuable gemstone. The pink one is Tourmaline, which I chose because you love pink. Plus, I love the way it accentuates your blue hair and teal eyes." Sora said, smiling.

"How do you know all this?" Brie asked.

"Well, you've seen my library, haven't you? I've lived alone my whole life, aside from maids and nannies who raised me when I was younger. Then there were the King's private tutors for me," Sora said. He didn't feel like he was lying. All of this was true.

"Do you mind if I change before I put the necklace on? I'm still in my dungeon gear."

"Sure," Sora stood up and pulled out Brie's chair for her.

She sprinted down to her room and quickly changed into a turquoise summer dress. She looked in the mirror and frowned. 'He's in a suit and I just have this cute little casual dress. I hope he doesn't mind.'

When she returned, Sora had the necklace, which she left neatly on the table, in his hands. "Mind if I put this on for you?"

"I was going to ask you too! I swear! That's why I wanted to change." Her flustered tone made Sora laugh.

"Brie, it's ok. I'm just happy the party helped me set this up and they're happy to give us the night together."

"Really? They really don't mind?"

"I promised you I'd never lie to you, anyway, you look great and this necklace looks beautiful on you."

Brie looked down and noticed the shimmer of the gemstones against the candlelit dinner. She realized she was hungry.

"Thanks Sora. What's for dinner?"

"Anything you want. Name it and it'll be here right away," Sora bragged.

"Hmmm… how about alfredo pasta with chicken?"

"Your wish is my command," Sora joked. "Excuse me for one second."

Sora had a professional chef in the other room, waiting for the order. Within two minutes, Sora held two beautiful plates, a glass of their favorite flavored drink, and returned to the table.

"Ta-da!" Sora said.

"Ok, so you definitely didn't make that yourself, but nice try. I appreciate the effort. Seriously… all of this, it's just amazing. Thank you so much. This is the best birthday I could ever ask for," she said with a huge smile.

They ate, talked, joked, laughed, and eventually Sora got up and made her dance to music he enjoyed on Earth.

"What's with this music?"

"It's something my Father left me, another gift from the people of Earth. Do you like it?"

"Yes, it's very relaxing. I feel like I could get lost in your arms all night."

After they finished dancing, Brie excused herself to go get changed into something more comfortable.

Sora went and changed into his usual nighttime attire. He hopped in and took a quick shower, then tossed on boxers, white jogging shorts and a white t-shirt.

Brie also jumped into the shower, got out, quickly did some make up, and put on pink pajamas.

She anxiously knocked on Sora's door.
