Dark clouds gathered over Ethereal City, and soon, heavy rain began to pour down. It was a cold, driving rain. Students ran everywhere, opening umbrellas or using wind magic to shield themselves.
Anthony walked out of the building. He didn't have an umbrella. He didn't need one.
Derek saw him from under a large canopy. "Perfect!" Derek grinned maliciously. He had awakened a minor control over air currents. He focused his Qi.
Whoosh!
He manipulated the wind and rain, steering the entire storm cloud specifically to pour down on Anthony alone.
"Get soaked, loser!" Derek laughed. "Freezing cold shower! Catch a cold! Die of hypothermia!"
The rain poured harder and harder right on top of Anthony. It was like a waterfall.
But Anthony just kept walking. The raindrops hit the air around him... and then slid off at impossible angles. They curved away like water hitting a waxed surface. Not a single drop touched his clothes or his hair. He remained completely dry, walking through the storm like he was in a bubble.
"What?!" Derek focused harder, pouring more energy into his wind control. "Why won't you get wet?! What kind of shield is this?!"
Anthony stopped walking. He looked up at the sky, then turned his head to look directly at Derek, even though they were hundreds of meters apart.
"You know, Derek," Anthony's voice carried clearly through the wind, sounding calm and conversational. "Manipulating weather requires immense spiritual energy. You are wasting enough Qi right now to power a small house for a week just to try and get me slightly damp. That's not bullying. That's just incredibly poor resource management. You should save your energy for something useful. Like growing a brain."
Anthony pointed a finger at Derek. "Also, turn around."
Derek instinctively turned.
The massive amount of wind and rain that Anthony had repelled bounced off his invisible barrier and shot back with double the force, concentrated entirely on Derek's position.
SPLASH!!!
It hit Derek like a fire hose of water. In seconds, Derek was completely drenched. His clothes were soaked through, his hair was plastered to his face, and he was shivering violently.
"See?" Anthony smiled warmly, waving from a distance. "What goes around, comes around. Basic Meteorology 101. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm dry and you're not. Goodbye!"
Anthony walked away dry as a bone while Derek stood shivering in a puddle, looking like a drowned rat, questioning every life choice that had led him to mess with Anthony.
