Chapter 4 - Taking a Walk Around the Village

"Is it fine?" Ren didn't agree immediately because it could create trouble or ruin their image.

After all, he would be the only man in the house if he stayed at their place.

"It's fine. We also have a spare room in our home." After answering, Aveline turned to her daughter. "Elara, take him to his room."

"Alright." Elara nodded.

As they were heading to his room, Aveline left to meet some people.

She didn't want something bad to happen to Ren while he was in her village, so she went to inform the others of his presence.

While Aveline was talking to her people, Ren was looking at the mountains through the window.

Elara was no longer with him because she left shortly after reaching his room.

'This village is so beautiful!'

He finally understood why the villagers didn't migrate to the city, because the surrounding scenery could calm their minds.

'Ah, right! Let me see my new appearance.'

He turned around and approached the mirror.

He could not see all of his predecessor's memories, so he had no idea what his face looked like.

'Not bad, not bad!'

He nodded his head in satisfaction.

Ren had black hair and dark grey eyes.

His hair was coiffed to perfection, and the lineaments of his face were in perfect proportion to each other.

If he had a pair of wings on his back, no one would doubt him if he said he was an angel who had descended from the highest heaven because he was too perfect to be a human being.

'It's a pity that good looks didn't matter much in this world. Otherwise, I could become famous and wealthy in no time with this face.'

He lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

'I hope my second life will be much better and more exciting.'

He slowly closed his eyes and let his tired body rest.

----

The following morning, Ren had breakfast with Elara and Aveline.

Once they finished eating, Aveline told her daughter to take Ren for a stroll around the village because he would be bored if he only stayed at home.

A soft smile spread across his face as he enjoyed the morning atmosphere.

The sight of villagers going to work, children playing on the street and the sound of birds chirping: everything was so peaceful and lively as if he were not in a village, but a small paradise.

"Hmm?" Ren stopped his footsteps the moment he saw many teenagers practicing martial arts.

"We start practicing martial arts once we turn fifteen," Elara explained. "This way, we already have a foundation when we become awakeners."

"I see." It was a good tradition in his eyes.

"Do you want to take a closer look?" she asked.

"Sure." He agreed instantly.

At the same time, a red-haired instructor was walking among the trainees and checking their form.

"One!"

The disciples punched forward.

"Two!"

They threw a high kick.

The instructor corrected the form of some trainees before shouting again. "Three!"

The teenagers raised their hands and took a defensive stance.

"Hmm?" The instructor shifted his gaze when he noticed Elara and Ren.

"Good morning, Instructor Darian." Elara greeted the instructor.

"Do you want to join, Elara?" Darian asked.

"I will skip today." She shook her head and waved her hands in refusal.

"I see." Darian didn't force her and turned to Ren. "Are you Ren?"

Ren's eyes widened for a moment. "Yes. I am."

'How does he know my name?'

He only stayed at Elara's house yesterday, so he was a little startled.

"I heard from the village head that you saved Elara yesterday." Darian was one of the few people Aveline met. "As her instructor, I want to thank you."

"There is no need to thank me. They were my enemies too." Ren finally understood why Darian knew his name.

Darian nodded before shifting his gaze to the trainees. "Alright. Take a five-minute break. After that, we will continue with the sparring session."

Some of them walked to the edge of the training ground to grab their water bottles, while the rest immediately sat or lay on the ground.

Darian continued talking with Ren and Elara.

Five minutes later, the disciples trained again.

Ren and Elara didn't leave immediately because they wanted to see the sparring matches.

Bang!

The red-haired man named Aron was sent flying into the air.

Since he fell outside the sparring circle, he lost the fight.

"Yes! I won!" The green-haired trainee raised his hand happily.

Aron sat up and looked at his opponent.

'I lost to Julian again.'

He let out a deep sigh.

"Hehe! Good fight, Aron!" Julian extended his hand to help him up.

Aron grabbed it and stood up. "Next time, I will win for sure!"

"We will see about that." Julian smiled.

The next match started as soon as they stepped out of the sparring circle.

This time, it was the girls' turn.

The fight was just as fierce as the previous one because both of them had equal strength.

A few minutes later, the fight ended with the blue-haired girl's victory. Of course, the opponent was not angry or annoyed because everyone in their village was family.

The third match was a fight between a man and a woman.

But despite that, the male trainee was soundly defeated.

In the sixth match, Darian turned to Ren because he wanted to know his opinion about the trainees.

"What do you think of their skills?" Darian asked.

"This village has many talented teenagers." Ren was not lying when he said this because there were some promising disciples among them.

Darian nodded in agreement. "But among them, Elara is the strongest."

"Elara?" Ren turned to her in surprise.

"I… I'm not." Elara avoided his gaze in shyness.

"Haha! Don't be fooled by her shy personality." Darian laughed. "When it comes to fighting, she becomes a completely different person."

Ren could tell that Elara had learned martial arts, but he had never expected her to be the strongest among the younger generation.

"Do you think I'm lying? Then, how about you spar with her now?" After saying that, Darian turned to Elara. "What do you think, Elara?"

"I…I can't win against him. Ren is too strong for me." Elara had seen how strong Ren was, so she knew that she was no match for him.

"Too strong?" Darian said in surprise.

"No. Don't believe her. I'm not that strong." Ren said humbly.

"Ren, how about we spar for a bit? I would like to see your strength for myself." Darian asked.
