GA: Chapter 169: The Yamata no Orochi in the Ocean — A Terrifying Level of Power!

Amid cries of despair, countless civilians in the island nation's coastal cities stared helplessly at the waves surging toward them. The roads dissolved into chaos. Cars and pedestrians alike were overwhelmed by terror — every mind reduced to a single thought.

Run.

Flee this city. Flee the waves about to swallow it. Flee the enormous presence lurking in the ocean.

"ROARRR!!!"

With a thunderous howl, the already churning water boiled upward again. Heaven and earth seemed to merge into water — blotting out the sky.

RUMBLE.

A violent impact. The monstrous wave crashed down and buried half a city beneath it. Countless people didn't even have time to react — they were swallowed by the ocean, despair still painted across their faces.

Buildings and structures around them crumbled and sank in the surging water.

This was the power of the ocean. There was no resistance to it, no counter. Against this force, people could only feel fear, panic, and hopelessness.

And toward the true culprit responsible for all of it — that massive figure standing out on the water — they couldn't even summon anger.

"ROARRR ROARRR ROARRR!!!"

As if immensely pleased with everything it was witnessing, the giant mutated sea creature swung its arms once more, sending wave after wave rolling toward the city.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

Endless thunder in the earth below, the ground shaking under each impact. Wave upon wave — until the city went silent.

Compared to Huaxia and other nations, the island nation had faced an unrelenting barrage of dangers since the spiritual revival began.

Surrounded on all sides by ocean, it was already confronting mutated sea creature incursions at a time when other countries were still dealing with land-based beast tides. If not for a combination of human technological weapons and a handful of powerful ability users holding the line, the island nation would have lost many cities already.

This was the greatest threat it had ever faced.

The Yamata no Orochi of the ocean.

A level of power so terrifying it inspired pure despair.

And the most frustrating part — this mutated sea creature would not set foot on land regardless of what attacks it faced. It simply remained in the ocean and stirred the water into weapons.

A sea creature of this caliber was already beyond what current technology could stop. They needed powerful ability users — and unfortunately, the island nation had no one capable of confronting this thing.

If they weren't willing to seek outside help, only one path remained.

Gather every powerful ability user they had, divide them into roles — with one group focused entirely on restraining the creature and preventing escape.

That was the hardest part. Because a creature of the Yamata no Orochi's power, in open ocean, had strength that was difficult to even estimate.

In the past, there would have been options. Other approaches. Others might have taken an interest in the Yamata no Orochi without even being asked, volunteering to help.

But now, with the spiritual revival underway, the oceans and skies had become no-go zones for humanity. What had once been freely navigable could now only be crossed for short distances.

So this disaster was theirs alone to resolve.

Wasn't that what they'd always wanted, once?

"Restraining it... that's an almost impossibly difficult task. Even if we managed it, the casualties would be significant."

A figure spoke the words with a quiet exhale.

"The mutated sea creatures we've dealt with before were powerful, but manageable. This one — the one we've named Yamata no Orochi — is something else entirely."

"Not only does it control the ocean itself, but its intelligence is high. It senses danger in advance and moves to avoid our fire before it lands. On top of that, it's extraordinarily cautious — maintaining a consistent distance, never getting too close and never moving too far away."

"Whatever attack we attempt, it always has time to prepare a response."

The others felt the same suffocating frustration. The creature's power was overwhelming enough on its own — but it was also cunning, and patient, and it never left the water. Every coastal city within reach had been submerged already.

And they had no means of stopping it.

Online, the public had erupted. Demanding protective measures. Demanding someone eliminate the creature.

But how were they supposed to eliminate it?

Transform into Ultraman?

That sort of thing didn't exist in the real world.

"However difficult it is, we have to try. Leaving it out there indefinitely isn't something we can afford."

"Better to be decisive than to hesitate forever."

One figure said it through gritted teeth.

"Actually — it may not be entirely impossible."

Suddenly, one voice drew every eye in the room.

"The Kamisakura family has produced an exceptionally talented young girl in the way of the sword over the past few years. Despite her age, she can already hold her own against her father — remarkable talent by any measure."

"After the spiritual revival, she obtained a divine artifact that carries an extremely particular power."

"Based on what I've learned — any mutated sea creature wounded by that artifact has its life instantly erased. Without exception."

"If we can create an opening for her to land a hit on the Yamata no Orochi, no matter how powerful the creature is, it cannot resist the power of a true divine artifact."

"After all, 'Yamata no Orochi' is only the name we gave it. Ultimately, it's just a powerful mutated sea creature. But that artifact is a genuine divine object."

"A divine artifact?!"

A strange expression rippled across the faces of those present at the word — but given who was speaking, and the current circumstances, there was no reason to fabricate something like that.

"Angels have already appeared in this era. What's impossible anymore?"

Those words landed with weight. Heads nodded slowly around the room, deeply felt.

When they'd first seen the footage, they'd thought it was some elaborate hoax. It had turned out to be real.

The spiritual revival had touched every nation. Whether the long-term impact would be good or bad was still impossible to say.

But if humanity endured long enough to reach the future — it would certainly be good.

Long life was no longer an impossibility. In the past, that had been the dream of countless people throughout history.

Though compared to themselves, Huaxia had grown significantly more powerful.

The White Emperor. The Dragon Emperor. The Ice Emperor. The Flame Emperor.

Their information hadn't been classified, so even outsiders could access it.

And in doing so, they had witnessed the terrifying scope of that power.

The Ice Emperor in particular — she had encased an entire city in ice. Not a city measured on their scale — a Huaxia-sized city.

Strength like that was nothing short of divine.

No wonder she was called the Ice Emperor.

The name was well-earned.

And the Dragon Emperor in his armor — a gesture of his hand and a crimson dragon materialized, scarcely any mutated creature capable of withstanding it. At full power, it was difficult to even imagine.

The Flame Emperor was equally terrifying — summoning countless creatures of flame on her own, essentially an army unto herself.

And the hardest to comprehend of all was the White Emperor. Information was sparse, but without question he stood as the most powerful of the four.

Based on what circulated online, the other three combined apparently didn't measure up to the White Emperor alone.

His strength in Huaxia occupied an entirely different category from everything else.
