Chapter 29 - Luciano’s Disappointments

At Banks Corp, Luciano received a message from Tania.

"I went to see that vixen today. I tried to get her to divorce you. And guess what? At first, she refused. Just when I was wondering why, she said this."

A voice recording was attached.

"I might agree… if you add three more zeros."

Luciano didn't need to be told whose voice it was.

It belonged to Estrella.

A faint frown appeared on his face, and disappointment crept into his chest.

As expected of a gold digger.

Just then, Tania's call came in.

"Did you see my message?" she asked.

"So?" Luciano replied flatly.

"You should hurry up and divorce her. She is not worthy of you."

A cold glint flashed in Luciano's eyes.

Not worthy?

"You were never worthy of my father either," he said coldly. "Yet he never divorced you."

At the mention of Lorraine, Tania fell silent.

When she spoke again, her voice carried a trace of restraint. "I am different from her."

Luciano let out a low, mocking chuckle.

"Different?" he repeated.

He paused, then added coldly, "Aren't you both gold diggers?"

Tania's anger flared instantly.

"How dare you speak to me like that? I am your mother!"

Luciano remained indifferent.

She had no right to be angry.

"If that voice recording gets out," he said coldly, "you will regret ever giving birth to me."

Without waiting for a reply, he ended the call.

Tania stared down at her phone in disbelief.

"That crazy bastard…"

How dare he call her a gold digger?

She was his mother.

Raw anger surged within her.

With a sharp motion, she swept the antique off the table. It shattered on the floor, the fragments cutting into her hand.

But Tania seemed oblivious to the pain.

Her fingers curled into a tight fist, aggravating the wound as blood began to flow.

A maid rushed to her side in panic.

"Madam, you're bleeding!"

Tania breathed heavily as she stared at her injured hand.

"He is nothing like his father…"

The maid quickly brought a first aid kit and began tending to the wound.

Tania picked up her phone again and tried calling Luciano back.

Even if she was furious, she still had to persuade him to divorce Estrella.

Crystal had to marry into the Banks family.

An alliance with the Thompson family was too important to lose.

But Luciano didn't pick up.

She was about to slam her phone against the wall when an unknown number called.

She stared at the screen in confusion.

"Who is this?"

After a moment, she declined the call, her mind already racing with plans.

Then suddenly—

She thought of something.

Turning sharply, she gestured to a bodyguard standing not far away.

"Investigate that vixen for me."

The bodyguard hesitated. "Which vixen, Madam?"

Tania shot him a cold glare.

Seeing his genuine confusion, she said impatiently,

"My son's wife."

"Understood, ma'am," he replied before leaving.

Back at Banks Corp, the moment Luciano ended the call, Berry walked in.

"Boss, I've found the media outlet that released the news," he said.

Luciano didn't look up, signaling him to continue.

"It's Golden Entertainment Hub."

Luciano paused.

Golden Entertainment Hub?

The name sounded familiar.

"It's the entertainment company you were planning to acquire," Berry added.

Luciano's lips curved faintly.

Ah… that one.

The prey had walked right into him.

"Have you gathered information about his mistress?" Luciano asked.

"I have."

"Send it to his wife."

"Understood, sir," Berry nodded.

He was about to leave when Luciano spoke again.

"Wait."

Berry turned back. "Sir?"

"Release the information to his competitor as well."

Berry froze for a brief moment.

Luciano wasn't just targeting the man—

He intended to destroy the entire company.

"Understood," Berry said.

He glanced at Luciano, whose attention was already back on his laptop, fingers moving calmly across the keyboard—

as if he wasn't about to ruin someone's life.

His boss was truly ruthless.

Berry turned and left.

The moment Berry exited, Luciano's gaze fell on the cup of coffee resting on his table.

The one Estrella had given him.

He remembered the warmth he felt when he took it from her.

Then her words echoed in his mind—

"I might agree… if you add three more zeros."

His expression darkened.

So she was willing to divorce him for money—

just as she had married him for money.

She really could do anything for money.

Anger rose in his chest as his gaze turned cold.

How ridiculous.

He had actually felt something when she handed him that coffee.

For a moment… the words didn't sound like greed.

But he crushed the thought immediately.

Without hesitation, he grabbed the cup and tossed it into the bin.

"She's nothing but a gold digger," he muttered.

And those were the kind of people he despised the most—

people who could sell anything for a price.
