Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Want to give it a try?

They had a pair of beautiful heterochromatic eyes, the left violet and the right green. Their long black hair was combed into neat bangs and sideburns, with only the hair at the back of their head hanging loosely. Perhaps due to their Cursed Technique, there were distinct cross-shaped studs below their lower lip, four in total.

Despite being such a beautiful person, it was a pity he was a man—officially certified.

Mahito suddenly smiled.

"You want to become a woman—a complete, perfect one."

"Can you do it?"

Kirara Hoshi's heterochromatic eyes flashed with a glimmer of expectation.

They got up and moved closer to Mahito, their body brushing against Jogo and Hanami.

Jogo glared at them in disgust, and they immediately moved away cautiously.

"It's easy," Mahito said.

Kirara Hoshi was so happy they could hardly stop themselves from jumping up.

Kinji Hakari said indifferently,

"Kirara hopes to become a complete woman without any flaws. She first heard about you from a warning sent by Gojo-sensei. Among the students at Jujutsu High, someone was perfectly gender-swapped by you. Ieiri-sensei herself certified that your gender swapping is so perfect it would put all modern medical experts to shame."

He used feminine pronouns when referring to Kirara, a detail Mahito noticed.

Although officially certified as male, Kirara Hoshi had obvious feminine traits in the original work.

Rumors online claimed Kirara had already undergone gender reassignment surgery; looking at it now, those rumors held some credibility.

Mahito asked curiously,

"You knew I was coming?"

"A Cursed Spirit collaborating with a Curse User—this is the first news of your appearance. You've been identified by the jujutsu world as the first instance of an intelligent Cursed Spirit. In the entire history of the jujutsu world before you, there was no precedent for an intelligent Cursed Spirit. Your appearance has caused an earthquake throughout the jujutsu world. Naturally, information about you is of the highest priority. I was notified because Gojo-sensei knows I can receive first-hand news from the Curse User community."

Kinji Hakari sat up from the sofa with interest.

He looked at Mahito and continued:

"Since I knew you desired to collaborate with Curse Users, I understood you would inevitably come to me. This is one of the few places where Jujutsu Sorcerers can gather openly. If you're looking for Curse Users, there's no better place than here. From that moment on, Kirara has been looking forward to your arrival... though I didn't expect it to be so soon."

"Soon?" Mahito asked.

"You would only dare to appear here when you have the strength to challenge Gojo-sensei. That's not just my judgment, but Gojo-sensei's as well."

Kinji Hakari paused, sounding a bit strange as he asked curiously,

"I watched your battle with Awasaka. Although it was a brilliant fight and your learning ability is exceptional—right now, you are far from being Gojo-sensei's opponent. Why do you dare to appear before my eyes? Don't you know I'm a suspended third-year student from Jujutsu High? Or do you think that because I'm suspended, I no longer have contact with Jujutsu High?"

Mahito laughed.

"Let me get straight to the point," he said.

Kinji Hakari extended a hand.

"Please."

"Kinji Hakari."

Mahito rested both hands on the table, as if leaning on an emperor's desk.

He said,

"The current jujutsu world must be quite an eyesore in your view, isn't it?"

"Do you have any interest in joining me... to completely shatter this boring and corrupt jujutsu world?"

In the original work, only four Special Grade Sorcerers appeared on the surface.

In the perception of the jujutsu world, a Special Grade Sorcerer is far stronger than a Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer, but just how vast is that difference?

For a Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer, there is actually a clear definition, coming from the mouth of Kenjaku in the original work.

All Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerers possess the ability to single-handedly overthrow a nation—and that nation includes the United States.

Meanwhile, a Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer only needs to be able to guarantee a win against a Special Grade Cursed Spirit.

It is, quite literally, the difference between heaven and earth.

In the original work, the four Special Grade Sorcerers on the surface were:

Yuta Okkotsu: Possesses the highest level of Cursed Energy in the entire jujutsu world, with cursed energy reserves even exceeding Gojo Satoru's. His Innate Technique is Copy; as long as he meets the conditions, he can use any Innate Technique. He is evaluated as having inexhaustible Cursed Energy and unconditional copying.

Geto Suguru: His Innate Technique is Cursed Spirit Manipulation, allowing him to control any Cursed Spirit without limit, including but not limited to Special Grade spirits or entities similar to Cursed Spirits. Furthermore, there is no limit to the number of Cursed Spirits he can control. One man is an army. Kenjaku, using Geto Suguru's body, claimed he could conquer the United States and didn't even care about nuclear weapons.

Yuki Tsukumo: Her Innate Technique, Star Rage, allows her to grant herself imaginary mass. She can freely increase her own density, making the power of her punches equivalent to a meteorite strike, yet she can move while ignoring that mass. She is the ultimate stat monster. Before her death, she released her limits and created a black hole, hoping to take Kenjaku down with her. If it weren't for Tengen's barrier and her own will, that black hole could have compressed the Earth into a two-centimeter glass marble.

Finally, there is Gojo Satoru:

A Jujutsu Sorcerer who simultaneously awakened the Six Eyes and Limitless.

Needless to say, he is the strongest of the modern era.

You say they are human?

Are such monsters considered human?

Mahito didn't think for a second that his current self could fight any of the four listed above.

Never mind his current self—even at the peak of Mahito's power in the original work, if he faced any of those four Special Grade combatants, he would only be instantly killed.

Kinji Hakari's judgment was correct.

If things followed a normal path, Mahito should have developed until he could contend with a Special Grade Sorcerer before coming out to stir up trouble.

Appearing now while still in the embryonic stage was purely reckless, just waiting for a Special Grade Sorcerer to come and exterminate him—speaking from a general theoretical standpoint.

The entire Jujutsu Kaisen original work is nearly 300 chapters long, which seems long, but if you look closely at the timeline, you'll be shocked to find that the story spans only half a year.

Half! A! Year!

The time the story begins is given in the manga as June 2018, and the time the story ends is also very clearly given—

December 24, 2018.

Just thinking about this time span made Mahito feel like ants were crawling all over him.

How could he not work hard to improve himself?

How could he dare to stop?

Never mind stopping; he was afraid he wouldn't level up fast enough and wouldn't even count as a minion half a year later!

Now Mahito's research had hit a bottleneck, and he didn't have time to accumulate techniques.

He needed to grow at the fastest possible speed.

Since normal accumulation and growth couldn't keep up with him, he would use an evil path.

A Special Grade template!

Grade 1 no longer had value to him, and the four disaster Cursed Spirits, including himself, had already been thoroughly researched.

Now he was looking forward to a Special Grade Sorcerer—

Kinji Hakari was his target.
