Chapter 61 - 61:Bridging the Knowledge Gap.

Eric was currently sitting on his work desk, fully focussed on the crafting tool in front of him.

'It's done.'

A Custom Intermediate Pokeblock for Haunter. Purity: 100%.

This Poke Block had special characteristics that would align with the growth plan Eric had set for his Haunter, alongside the Advanced Blocks he was already eating.

Exactly one week had passed since Eric took Rudy as his master.

Since then, he had made astronomical progress, enough to make Rudy doubt his own talent.

This was primarily because his system had absorbed all of the information contained in the thousands of books that were in Rudy's study.

In all, this information was enough to take him all the way to the Advanced Breeder level!

This was only a small part of Rudy's information, however. Rest of it was kept in a secure database that only he had access to.

But even with just this, Eric could theoretically already make Advanced Pokeblocks under his system's guidance. He was only limited by his technical skills, which he surmised would take him about a month to reach the appropriate level.

Rudy might go in shock if he learnt of Eric's thoughts. The President of the breeder associaton, who holds the record for the fastest person to reach the advanced level, was 23 at the time.

For Eric to reach that level in a month… that was truly ridiculous.

Well, technically it would be his system. He was cheating, but he didn't care. One could say money and a strong background was cheating.

Of course, Eric would never tell him that. He didn't even tell him he reached the intermediate level.

He wanted to shine brightly and stand out, but not become the brightest star in the sky. Without sufficient strength, that would only spell his doom.

He would tell Rudy about reaching the intermediate level in a month. For now, he was happy with the Beginner Breeder's License he had gotten from him!

This allowed him to sell beginner Poke Blocks and earn money!

He sold his day's produce to the guild in bulk.

They usually charged a 5% fee, but since Eric was the disciple of an advanced breeder, they only charged him a 2% fee. There was a star on his license to prove it. With that, he could go to any breeder guild and they would know.

In total, Eric's daily earnings from basic Pokeblocks was 490,000P after deduction!

The information in Rudy's study was much more than just about Poke Blocks, however. Eric now had access to a ridiculous amount of in depth data about Pokémon in general.

With this, he has the system devise the best training plans for his Pokemon. The system was even able to alter the training method for Haunter that was in Alka's book, making it alot more personalised and suitable for Haunter.

Even though Eric's Pokemon didn't get much stronger during the past week, gaining about a level each, this was probably the most fruitful week for Eric since he arrived in this world.

With this, it could be said that he had finally managed to bridge the Knowledge gap by quite a bit, compared to others that were from influential backgrounds.

---

Today was his last day in Pewter City, so he visited the Breeder's guild for one last time.

Once there, he ran into Brock.

He had interacted with him quite a bit during the past week. He was also someone Rudy was planning to take under his wing.

Brock really admired Eric. Not only did he beat his father, he was also an extremely talented breeder! For an aspiring breeder like him, there was no way he wouldn't admire Eric.

Eric learned quite a bit about Brock after talking to him. Much of it matched with the anime. His many siblings, absent father who he had mixed feelings about, and so on.

"Just you wait! I'll catch up to you and take over the Pewter City Gym from my dad! Then you can come challenge me again!"

He said passionately.

"Alright. I'll take you up on that. But you'll have to work ridiculously hard if you want to compete with me."

"You bet I will!"

Both people shook hands as they went their seperate ways.

After this, Eric went straight to Rudy's office.

"Sigh. Are you really sure you don't want to stay here for at least a month?"

"It's been a week since we know each other. Do you really have to ask?"

"No, I do not. It's just a pity. I really wanted to see how far you'll go in a month."

"It's not like I'm completely quitting."

"Obviously! It would be too tragic if you did. And I'll keep assisting you over the phone."

Eric nodded. Then asked,

"So about the topic we left off yesterday..."

"Ah. About the energies us humans can practice. So, there are basically 3 kinds of energies that even us humans can use. Psychic, Spirit, and Aura."

Rudy held up 3 fingers.

"Not everyone can do so, you need a special affinity for them. This much we covered yesterday. But there is also a 4th kind of energy, which is a subset of Aura. It's called 'Chi'. "

" Chi?"

Eric remembered Armstrong, whom he fought in the Redwood Tournament. His Pokemon also used Chi.

"Correct. It was created by the legendary martial artist, Bruze Lee!"

Eric rolled his eyes when he heard the name. What kind of lame meta joke is this?

"Unlike the other 3, anyone can practice chi. Most trainers who specialise in fighting types practice it. The most famous example being Bruno of the Elite 4! Bruno is so strong that he can match the physical strength of a King level Pokemon!"

Eric's eyes opened with shock. There was no way that could be possible?

"Of course, this is only in regards to physical strength. When a Pokemon starts using move, Bruno wouldn't last a minute."

Eric sighed in relief hearing that. There was no way a human could matc-

"There is one human who can match a King level Pokemon, however. It's…the Saffron City Gym leader, the psychic Sabrina!"

"Sabrina?"

Rudy nodded. He poured a cup of tea for himself while talking.

"Yes. She is an anomaly. Her psychic energy since birth was so immense that she almost destroyed the hospital she was born in. She is also the reason Psychic energy is considered the strongest of the 3."

Eric had trouble believing what he heard. He had seen what a Pseudo King could do. To think a human was stronger than that… it gave him chills.

"…And what about Spirit and Aura?"

"Hmm… not much is known about these 2. Even though Psychics are rare, there are still quite a few of them. But Aura masters and Spirit chanellers are incredibly rare.

Aura is nothing but life force of a person. Everyone has it, but not everyone can use it. They say Aura masters have a variety of powers, but I'm not aware of them.

Spirit is even more mysterious. Many Ghost-type trainers use it. I do know it can be used like telepathy to communicate with a Pokémon's spirit, but more than that, I have no clue."

"I see."

"Well enough about all that. Tell me, what are your plans from here?"

Rudy asked as he took a sip of his tea.

"I'm going to go on a training trip in Viridian forest. I want to reach the Intermediate level as soon as I can."

"Why the rush?"

" Well, it's been 36 days since I registered as a trainer. Although that's not the fastest, I still want to beat Lance's record."

Cough Cough.

Rudy animatedly spilt the coffee from his mouth.

'You're telling me, not only are you the most talented breeder I have ever seen, you are also a prodigy trainer as well?

Brother. Leave some talent for the rest of us as well.'

"Are you okay?"

"A-ahmn. I'm fine. Sorry about that. Well, I wish you all the best. Just don't give up on being a breeder."

"I won't."

Eric bade farewell to Rudy, and then eventually left Pewter City behind.

Fearow and Poliwhirl were both level 28 and had not stopped their daily training over the past week. Now they just needed some real battles.

Eric planned to reach the Intermediate level in the next 2 days, and then go to the Pokémon Centre to report it.

Beating Lance's record wasn't as big a deal as it sounded. While it was impressive, it was still just about who reached the intermediate level first.

Eric didn't care about that.

What was important was that this would get his name out. He would be 'someone who surpassed Lance's record', and that had value.
