Chapter 52 - 52: Chronicles of Red 1

One Island.

"What? That kid went to Mt. Ember? Is he crazy? Doesn't he know that anyone below Advanced Level cannot survive that place?"

An old man shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Well… we tried to stop him but he was ridiculously stubborn."

A blonde, young man scratched his head.

"Dammit!" The old man grimaced. He had never seen such a talented young trainer before, despite his vast experience, and now this kid decided to go to Mt. Ember of all places despite not having the strength.

"Maybe he'll come back safely."

A Pink haired girl said from the side.

"What do you know. Mt. Ember isn't so simple. The Pokemon there are not only powerful, but incredibly aggressive. The survival rate for anyone below the Advanced level is less than 15%!"

The old man banged his head on a wall.

"I finally found a kid I could pass down my technique to. And now this happens."

"If you're that worried, why don't you go and rescue him?"

Sigh. " I can't."

Tired from throwing a fit, the old man sat down.

"That damn bird won't let me step a foot in Mt. Ember. The kid is on his own. I can only sit here and hope for a miracle."

---

Inside Mt. Ember

A youth, dressed in a red and white jacket, a matching red cap, and dark blue jeans, was currently facing a horde of 20 Intermediate level Pokemon.

The youth was nimbly moving around the place, while giving orders to 4 of his Pokemon.

A Poliwhirl, Pikachu, Charmeleon, and Eevee.

This youth was none other than Red!

While on paper, this group of 4 Pokemon didn't stand a chance against such a horde, but with their excellent coordination amongst each other, and Red's extraordinary battle sense, they were not only managing, but slowly winning against the horde!

" Poliwhirl, Pikachu, Now! Use Electric Surf! Charmeleon, protect them from sneak attacks. Eevee, assist Poliwhirl with your own surf!"

Normally, An Eevee cannot learn Surf. But Red's Eevee was... a bit special. Ya. Just a bit.

Hearing Red's orders, all Pokemon sprung into action. A giant wave of electrified water surged towards the horde, which was mostly made up of Fire Pokemon. This attack knocked out a bunch of them.

Some pokemon tried to attack from behind them, but we're countered by Charmeleon who used Dragon Claw.

With the horde mostly taken care of, Red didn't stop as he kept sprinting at full speed. He was a lot more athletic than Eric, and quickly made his way towards a hidden location inside the mountain.

Red had a clear objective in coming here. He had managed to gain information about a certain item that would be of great use for his Charmeleon's evolution.

The appeal of that item was so great that Red ignored the warnings of the old man and took the risk. For his Pokemon, he would never compromise.

Red huffed as he followed a map and entered a narrow passage, that was sealed by a boulder, and continued advancing at full speed.

He then stopped in panic and swiftly lay down as a blast of fire came from the other side of the passage.

Red lay there for a moment, then he continued his advance, slowly crawling through the passage.

Another blast didn't come, as he reached the exit. He raised his head a little to get a clear view. Then he saw it. A Magmar standing in the middle and looking at his direction.

Behind the Magmar was a structure made of stone. Strange runes were inscribed on that structure, that prevented the energy of what it was holding from escaping.

'This place was supposed to be sealed, without anyone inside. So why was a Magmar here?'

And that Magmar was no joke either. Red didn't need to rely on his Pokedex to tell that it was on the advanced level.

He still did and checked its stats.

Lvl 41.

Red's eyes narrowed.

His luck had been fairly good till now. The Advanced Pokemon he met, he has managed to avoid up to this point.

Red then looked at the stone structure. Inside it was a single yellow feather. Red could not give it up, for that feather fell off of Moltres's body!

And based on the information he got and the history of Mt. Ember, it was possible that this was the feather of the True Legendary Moltres, and not a half-blood one.

A True Legendary Pokemon was equivalent to a deity. In comparison, the half-blood ones were just really strong, normal Pokemon. They still carried some essence of the legendary Pokemon, and were exceptionally valuable. But didn't compete with a true legendary Pokemon.

Red had gotten this information when he assisted in a raid on a Team Rocket Base. One of the captains there had this map. He didn't know how he got something so valuable, but it didn't matter. He couldn't pass this up.

He was going to use the feather for Charmeleon's evolution!

Steeling his resolve, he jumped down with his Pokemon to face the Magmar.

The Magmar instantly fired a flamethrower at Red the moment he jumped.

"Poliwhirl, Eevee, Double Surf!"

Poliwhirl and Eevee combined their powers to launch a powerful surf that clashed with the flamethrower.

The attacks cancelled each other, as the water evaporated. But Red's team didn't stop. They launched another double surf almost immediately, powered by Pikachu's electricity.

Magmar countered with Fire Blast. The attacks cancelled each other again, but now Charmeleon was behind it. With Draconian energy covering his arms in the shape of a claw, he struck Magmar, pushing him back.

Magmar, furious, turned its head and fired a flamethrower at Charmeleon. But Charmeleon powered through and countered with a Dragon Rage.

After getting hit a second time, Magmar totally lost it. It turned around and dashed towards Charmeleon, arms covered in fire energy.

It was a mistake.

Poliwhirl fired a powerful Hydro Pump, amplified by Pikachu's and Eevee's Thunderbolt!

Yes, Eevee's. Red's Eevee was a special case. Due to 'reasons' she could use the energy types of her 3 Kanto evolutions without evolving.

The double amplified hydro pump hit the unguarded Magmar and crashed it into a wall.

"Double surf, finish it."

Unsure if the Magmar was defeated, Red ordered for another attack, just to be sure.

The Magmar was knocked unconscious. Despite being at the Advanced level, Red's Pokémon were just too strong for it.

Red then made his way to the feather and took out a special container that could suppress the energy of any item it contained. It was really expensive so Red hoped that it would work on this feather.

As soon as Red removed the feather from the stone structure, it released an etherial aura that spread throughout Mt. Ember. Red hurriedly placed it in the container. It was only then that the aura stopped leaking.

Phew.

'With this I can push Charmeleon's potential to SS tier when he evolves,'

Eric thought. Then he turned around.

"Let's go. There is no time to waste. That aura must've sent the entire mountain into chaos."

Red told his Pokemon and beelined towards the exit.

---

Once he left, a person wearing a crimson robe appeared near the stone structure. There was a symbol of a phoenix embroidered into the robe.

This figure didn't say anything. They just recalled Magmar in a Poke Ball, looked once at the empty stone structure, then left.
