Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE UNEXPECTED CONTRACT

Lena walked into a high-end company building, hoping to secure a simple job interview. The lobby was elegant, filled with polished marble floors and people dressed in expensive suits, which made her feel slightly out of place. Due to an unexpected mix-up, she was suddenly rushed into a meeting with Adrian Wolfe himself, the powerful and intimidating CEO of the company.

As she entered the room, she noticed a group of well-dressed girls standing with his assistant. Confused, Lena quietly took her place among them, observing everything that was happening. She was surprised that no one asked for her name or even requested her file. It all felt strange and unorganized, yet no one seemed to question it.

One by one, the assistant called out the names of some of the girls and asked them to step outside. Lena watched carefully, waiting for her turn, but her name was never called. Instead, she remained standing there while the others slowly left the room.

A thought began to form in her mind. Had they already chosen her for the job? Her heart started beating faster with a mix of excitement and nervousness. She couldn't believe her luck. However, deep down, she had no idea what was truly coming next—or that this unexpected moment would change her life in ways she never imagined.

Lena was nervous and kept quiet, unsure of what to say. She had so many questions in her mind but couldn't find the courage to ask any of them. Suddenly, the CEO looked at her and asked, "Do you know why you are here?"

She shook her head gently. "No, sir," she replied softly.

The CEO's assistant stepped forward and asked, "What are you here for?"

"I came for a job interview," Lena answered, her voice slightly shaky.

The assistant exchanged a quick glance with the others before saying, "You are on the wrong floor. This floor is reserved for something entirely different. It is where the CEO is searching for a wife."

Lena's eyes widened in shock. Before she could react, the assistant continued, "And you have already been approved as the CEO's wife. Are you willing to accept the offer?"

Her heart raced. She wanted to refuse immediately, but before she could speak, the CEO interrupted her.

"It's only for one year," he said calmly. "In return, your family will receive full financial support and free medical care."

Lena froze. Her thoughts immediately went to her younger sister, who was seriously ill and needed urgent treatment. The cost had been overwhelming, and she had no way to afford it.

Without thinking twice, she nodded. "Yes… I accept," she said quietly.

A small smile formed on her lips, not because she understood what she was stepping into, but because, at that moment, all she could think about was her sister finally getting the medical care she desperately needed.

Then she quietly left the office, her mind still in confusion about everything that had just happened. Lena planned to go home and tell her younger sister everything, hoping it might somehow make sense if she said it out loud.

But before she could even get home, her phone rang. It was a call from a neighbor. Panic filled her chest as she heard the words her sister had fainted.

Without wasting a second, Lena rushed out to the street, frantically waving down a taxi. Her hands trembled as she urged the driver to go faster. Her sister, Maya, had been battling asthma for years, and attacks like this were always dangerous.

Their parents had died when they were still very young, leaving them alone in the care of their uncle. Unfortunately, their uncle had taken everything their parents left behind and treated them more like burdens than family. Even when Maya was seriously ill, he refused to help them. Lena had been working tirelessly, doing everything she could to earn money, but it was never enough. Maya's condition kept getting worse, and sometimes they couldn't even afford her inhaler.

Eventually, Lena had saved just enough money to leave their uncle's house with Maya, hoping for a better life. But things had not improved much. Now, as she held her unconscious sister in her arms, fear gripped her heart like never before.

When they finally reached the hospital, Lena rushed inside, calling for help. But before she could fully explain the situation, she noticed something surprising—Adrian and his assistant were already there.

Confused and frightened, Lena froze for a moment. Why were they here?

The assistant quickly approached her and gently reassured her not to worry. She explained that Adrian had already arranged everything and brought in one of the best doctors to treat Maya.

Lena could hardly believe what she was hearing. Her heart pounded as she waited outside the operating room, her hands clasped tightly together in silent prayer.

Minutes felt like hours until finally, the doctor stepped out.

Lena stood up immediately, her voice shaking as she asked about her sister.

The doctor gave a small, reassuring smile and said, "The operation was successful."

At that moment, Lena felt her knees weaken—not from fear this time, but from overwhelming relief. Tears filled her eyes as she realized that, for the first time in a long while, there was hope.

Lena entered her sister's room and gently asked how she was feeling. Her sister looked weak but managed a small smile. Just then, a nurse walked in and informed them that the hospital bill was five hundred thousand dollars. Lena's heart skipped in shock, but before she could react, the nurse quickly added that someone had already paid the full amount. She also handed Lena some medication for her sister to take at home before quietly leaving the room.

Surprised and confused, Maya turned to her sister and asked who could have paid such a huge amount. Lena took a deep breath and explained everything that had happened. After listening carefully, Maya nodded slowly. Though she was still weak, she seemed to understand, and she chose not to say anything further.
