On a very hot summer day, a thirsty crow was flying in search of water. He flew over fields and trees, but he couldn't find a single drop of water anywhere. He felt very weak and thought he might die of thirst.
The Discovery:
Suddenly, he saw a pitcher (a water pot) sitting under a tree. He flew down and looked inside. There was some water at the bottom, but it was too low for him to reach. He tried to tilt the pitcher, but it was too heavy.
The Clever Idea:
The crow did not lose hope. He noticed a pile of pebbles lying nearby. He started picking up the pebbles one by one with his beak and dropping them into the pitcher.
Success:
As each pebble fell into the water, the water level slowly began to rise. After a while, the water reached the neck of the pitcher. The crow drank the cool water happily, rested for a bit, and then flew away.
Moral of the Story
"Where there is a will, there is a way."
