Chapter 2 - Chapter Three: A Week’s Memory

Perfect! Here's Chapter Three of I Forget You, But I Still Love You, building on their fragile, heart-tugging con

Mina woke to the soft light of morning spilling across the floor. The notebook was still clutched in her hand, but this time… there was something different.

A faint warmth lingered in her chest. A memory? No—more like a feeling. Like a melody she couldn't quite hum.

She turned toward the chair. It was empty. Liam must have left after she fell asleep. She didn't remember saying goodnight—or even seeing him—but somehow… she knew he was there.

The knock came mid-morning, gentle but persistent.

"Mina?"

Her heart stuttered.

"…Come in," she whispered.

The door opened slowly. Liam stood there, as he always did. Tired eyes, careful smile.

"I… I brought breakfast," he said, holding a tray. Pancakes, fruit, tea—the small comforts of a life she couldn't recall.

Mina blinked. "…Thank you."

He set the tray down and sat beside her. The air between them was thick with things unsaid, things she couldn't remember but somehow felt.

"I… feel like I should know you," she admitted. "But I… I don't. Not really."

Liam nodded, unsurprised. "I know. That's… part of it. But your heart… it remembers anyway. That's what matters."

She studied him for a long moment. "Why… why do you stay?"

"Because I have to," he said simply. "Because loving you… even when you forget me… is worth it."

Mina looked down at her lap. Her chest ached in the familiar, unexplainable way. She wanted to run, to hide, to protect herself from a pain she couldn't name.

But then Liam reached for her hand again, just like yesterday. This time, she didn't hesitate. She let their fingers intertwine.

"You're patient," she whispered.

He smiled faintly. "I've learned to be. You… you deserve patience. Every week, every time… you deserve patience."

Mina's eyes blurred with tears. "…I'm scared," she admitted. "I'm scared of… losing this feeling. Losing… you."

"You won't," he said. "Not entirely. Because even when you forget… this—" he gestured between them, at their hands, at the invisible thread binding them—"this doesn't disappear."

She wanted to believe him. She wanted to trust him. She wanted to let her heart remember, even if her mind couldn't.

"I… think I want to try," she murmured.

Liam's chest lifted slightly. Relief. Hope. And yet… worry lingered in his eyes.

"You don't have to do it alone," he reminded her. "I'll be here. Every day. Every week. As many times as it takes."

A small laugh escaped her lips, bittersweet. "…Even if I forget you again?"

"Even then," he said, voice steady. "Because I… I'll never forget you. And maybe… one day, your heart and your mind will meet in the same place again."

For a moment, the world felt fragile, but full of possibility. Mina leaned her head against his shoulder, letting the warmth seep in.

Somewhere deep inside, her heart whispered a truth she didn't yet have the words for.

She didn't remember him.

She didn't know him.

But she… loved him anyway.

And for now, that was enough.
