Chapter 2 - Mahito's Choice

Mahito, holding the second volume of the manga, hurried over to Jogo's side. He pointed to the first panel on page 164, which showed Gojo Satoru stepping on Jogo's head—the only part of him left—while demanding to know who had sent him to attack.

"Hahahaha, look at this! You challenged Gojo Satoru and got beaten down to just a head. He's treating you like a soccer ball!"

Laughing, Mahito repeatedly patted Jogo's shoulder with one hand while holding the manga up to his face with the other.

"I challenged Gojo Satoru and got beaten down to just a head?" Jogo repeated, his expression strange.

Instead of getting angry at Mahito's teasing, Jogo felt more confused by the sudden and inexplicable topic. He couldn't understand why Mahito had brought up Gojo Satoru out of nowhere.

Following Mahito's finger, Jogo looked at the book in his hand, hoping to find an answer.

But what infuriated him was that the book Mahito handed over was completely blank—nothing but white pages. Mahito was clearly messing with him.

Veins bulged instantly on Jogo's face. His single eye glared at Mahito, while the small volcano on his head boiled and released thick smoke. Gnashing his teeth, he growled,

"Is it fun messing with me using a blank book, you bastard?!"

Seeing Jogo's reaction, Mahito was slightly surprised. He knew Jogo would get angry at this kind of joke, but something about the reaction felt off.

"Huh? No way—you can't see the drawings?" Mahito said, pointing again. "This blindfolded guy is Gojo Satoru."

Jogo slammed his hand onto the book. In the next second, flames burst out and burned it to ashes as he roared in anger.

"You're holding a blank book and talking nonsense about me being beaten into just a head by Gojo Satoru? Have you lost your mind?!"

Mahito looked at the charred remains of the manga with slight regret. From Jogo's words, he understood the situation—it seemed that only he could see the contents of the manga.

Although the book was destroyed, Mahito had already memorized everything, so it didn't matter much.

"It's actually true. The book wasn't blank—it had our story drawn in it," Mahito explained with a helpless shrug.

"Hah? You're not joking? Has your brain gone bad?" Jogo's gaze shifted from anger to suspicion.

To prove he wasn't lying, Mahito stretched out his arm and retrieved the first volume of the manga. Pointing at the cover, he said seriously,

"The one you burned was volume two. This is volume one."

Jogo stared at him suspiciously. After spending so much time together, he could usually tell when Mahito was joking—but looking at the completely blank book in Mahito's hand, he wasn't so sure anymore.

From Jogo's reaction, Mahito immediately understood—Jogo couldn't see this one either.

Mahito stroked his chin while flipping through the pages, examining them closely as he muttered,

"How strange… am I hallucinating?"

But then he remembered that he had comprehended his Domain Expansion, Self-Embodiment of Perfection, because of this manga. That alone meant things were not so simple.

At that moment, a massive bird-like Cursed Spirit descended from the sky.

If not for the four pairs of spider-like eyes on its head, its appearance would have resembled a parrot.

The creature landed naturally in front of Jogo and Mahito. It opened its beak and began to speak—not by its own will, but like a biological recorder playing a pre-recorded message.

Kenjaku's voice came from within it.

"The timing is about right. Let's set the location at Shibuya. We have much to discuss."

According to the original plan, Jogo was supposed to take Hanami and Dagon with him to represent their leader, Mahito, and consult Kenjaku about reversing the current balance between curses and humans.

With serious matters at hand, Jogo temporarily set aside Mahito's earlier behavior and prepared to call Hanami and Dagon before heading to Shibuya.

Just as he was about to leave, Mahito called out,

"Wait. I'm coming with you this time."

"Huh? Didn't we agree earlier that we'd go first to probe Geto Suguru?" Jogo found it strange.

Recalling what he had seen in volume fifteen of the manga—where Geto Suguru betrayed and subdued him—Mahito said,

"There's something I need to confirm about Geto Suguru."

Seeing Mahito's serious expression, Jogo didn't question him further.

That was, until he saw Mahito pick up a nearby backpack, put the blank book inside, take out another "volume," and start flipping through it while saying,

"Let's go."

As Mahito approached, Jogo confirmed once again that he was completely absorbed in reading a blank book, occasionally muttering things like "I see" or "Haha, interesting."

At that moment, Jogo couldn't help but wonder if he had made a mistake in recognizing Mahito's potential and pushing him to become their leader.

Could someone who wasn't right in the head really lead the curses to overthrow humanity?

A deep sense of uncertainty settled in Jogo's heart.

Not long after, in Shibuya, guided by the bird-like Cursed Spirit, the four calamities met Kenjaku, who had been waiting for them.

Seeing them arrive, Kenjaku waved and greeted them,

"Oh, you're all here."

Just as Mahito had seen in the manga, Kenjaku led them toward a certain location while explaining how he had used one of Sukuna's Fingers to test Sukuna's power within Yuji Itadori.

And just like in the manga, Jogo asked with dissatisfaction,

"Was that really necessary? Using such a precious finger just to confirm Sukuna's strength?"

As Geto Suguru was about to respond, Mahito wrapped an arm around Jogo's shoulder and said,

"After all, sending mere cannon fodder to test him would be meaningless, right? Isn't that so, Geto?"

After speaking, Mahito looked at Kenjaku with a smile.

Kenjaku smiled back.

"You're absolutely right. And this test brought corresponding gains."

Hearing this, the smile on Mahito's face widened even further.

Sure enough…
