The First Hero, was born and raised in a tiny village in the south.
He always dreamt of becoming a warrior—a warrior who fought for his people, and all else.
As he grew up he discovered something.
He was strong—stronger than all those around him.
He was something unreachable for those in such a small village—so they told him,
"Oh Hero, why won't you travel the world, and spread your strength far and wide?"
The Hero was a kind man, and understood what they meant.
There were bigger plans waiting for him, and it would be unfair to limit that kindness to just his own people—the entire planet deserved it.
He grabbed his bag and sword—and left the town behind.
He left all alone.
There was no one who came to see him off.
They are probably busy. The Hero thought as he walked on with a smile on his face—into the far, and wide world.
During his travels he helped each and every village, town or city he came across—no matter how insignificant it was, all he wished for was to help those in need.
He was a noble man.
One day he heard of a man—a man who had taken the entire human world for his own, stopping each rebellion that happened under him, suppressing everybody who rejected his power.
A wicked man—a wicked man who had stopped all the wars of humans, focusing on only expanding his power and reach—even reaching the other races.
The man called Finn—Finn, The evil emperor.
A man who did everything out of his own greed—a man The Hero had to stand up against.
After he learned about the emperor he started gathering supporters—those who refuse to bend the knee to the emperor.
With each city he visited, his group grew, until it reached over the entire realm.
Not just the humans were his friends, he reached far beyond that, even the races that hated humans were unified.
There was no difference between these races, they were just The Hero and his group.
The day The Hero reached the evil emperor's castle had come.
Everybody stood with the First Hero, even those guarding the castle—no one went against his compassion.
Only the evil emperor and his henchman were left, those corrupted under his influence, staying by his side no matter what happened.
"Oh evil, I'm here to destroy you!" The First Hero said, pointing his sword up the stairs at the evil emperor who sat on his throne.
"Evil? I'm no evil. You don't know the true evil." The evil emperor responded.
"I know true evil. You are true evil." The First Hero declared, as he lunged forward thrusting his sword through the air.
A fight broke out, a fight lasting days and nights, those who supported either side never appeared.
Both men were left by themselves, they had been all alone since the first step echoed through the throne room.
Until the moment came.
Both left a trail behind as they lunged forward for their final strike—both used all they had into this final attack, knowing their end had come.
They both stood in front of the throne, with the drops of blood echoing through the throne hall as they splattered onto the floor.
The swords had reached their destinations as both men dropped onto the floor in front of the throne—blood had spilled for.
No words were exchanged—no sounds were made, while their sights was slowly taken by the darkness.
The First Hero went down, believing eternal peace had been achieved.
The Evil Emperor Finn went down, believing eternal peace had been destroyed.
There was one thing they both understood
A hero's journey never ends with death.
A dark spot could be seen on the left page as another fell onto his right hand that held the page he had read.
It wasn't just his tears that fell.
A loud bang echoed through the library, as I closed the book.
Let's continue—there are other things I should understand.
I grabbed the book on beasts, and dropped it on the desk in front of me.
Uhm... was I too loud? Some people were startled while others kept staring at me, I could feel the eyes of the librarian burn through me—refusing to look her way.
I was only able to find a book about the beasts in this area,
I should at least know about the beasts I came across before.
I searched for the first beast I had encountered,
Kludd. It was easy to find, I knew its name after all.
A shapeshifting beast—even the drawing is identical... but why does it say nothing about the headless ones?
They only appear at night? I am sure that ours came out during the day... why—could it have been the cargo?
I was pulled out by the slight taste of iron that reached the tip of my tongue as my lower lip started to hurt.
I have no way of knowing yet... I just flipped the page.
How can I find those birds, and the... mother? I started from the first page, and flipped past every page, until I passed an illustration of a bird.
I flipped the page back,
No wrong bird. And continued again—until I found it.
Stymphs... I couldn't help but rub the page between my fingers as I read.
They grow continuously, with beaks that kept growing until their deaths.
I held my chin,
How old were the ones I came across even?
Wait... their beaks can be sold for crowns!? A hundred seals... My eyes had shifted away from the book as I thought of the golden coin I had never even seen.
They are rare species, with their beaks being one of a kind? Why would you need it... I read the next sentence,
Nobles of course... are they just rich people? I couldn't help but shake my head at the thought of it.
We could have been rich enough for an entire lifetime...
Would the mother even be here... that couldn't have been a beast—right? I hadn't seen anything that looked like it after all, even when I went through the entire book again—there was nothing.
Will there be anything about essence in the other book? I thought as I carefully brought the sides together—making sure that no sound would be made.
I grabbed another book,
What will even be told here? I had picked this book out because the librarian had told me after all.
While flipping through the pages, there was nothing of importance, but I did find the reason for the announcers loudness—it was because of craftsmen, who were able to create a tool for it.
Some people had a specialty, pulling someone towards a job or task—
It's something of a calling... interesting...
Is that essence?
I was interested in it... I laid my head on the brownish discolored page.
Nothing else about essence... nor that absorbing thing...
"Sigh..." I had hoped to learn something about the voice, but it was clearly in vain—something unique to me.
I looked to my side, it was the final book, the topic that mattered most to me—the curses.
I can't expect too much...
