Chapter 9 - "Yellow Kō-un"

Keeping his invisibility layer active, Jax crept toward the box behind the seated warrior. His eyes caught the label: 2A-716. Yes. This is it.

"Thirty seconds," Jax whispered.

The box was small but incredibly heavy, sealed with an electronic laser lock. It didn't sit on the floor; it was floating in the air, held in place by two powerful magnetic devices. Jax reached out, his fingers trembling. Suddenly, the figure's eyes snapped open.

They were deep purple, glowing with a predatory light.

"I was wondering when someone would finally come for that thing," the Overclocker said, standing up slowly. "At last."

Jax felt his internal sensors screaming—a "red signal" warning of imminent death.

The man narrowed his eyes at the empty air where Jax stood. "Oh? You're a shy one, aren't you? Fine. "Yellow Kō-un."

A cloud of metallic yellow dust exploded into the atmosphere. As the particles touched Jax's invisibility field, they sparked violently, short-circuiting his cloak. The layer vanished in a burst of light.

"Intruder!" the a guard yelled from the 12th section.

A massive explosion rocked the 12th Section—the distraction drag the attention of that overclocker standing there. Assasians from all over the train scrambled toward the noise. In the chaos, An assasian lunged. "Gear-hounds!"

A whip of pure electricity hissed through the air, hitting the neck of that Assasian. Jax didn't wait for a second strike. While the Overclocker was momentarily distracted by the chaos, Jax slammed a capsule into his mouth"a stimulant to sharpen his senses"and grabbed the magnetic box. Then he throw another capsule towards the overclocker.

A massive electric impulse surged through the train, stunning everyone for five seconds. It was the window he needed. Jax leapt. He dove through the glass window, performing a jagged, acrobatic roll into the night, the heavy box tucked firmly under one arm.

As Jax hit the ground, the Overclocker looked back from the broken window. Standing at the entrance of the section was a new figure. A Steam Walker officer. He wore a long obsidian coat, unbuttoned to reveal a deep blue shirt, with a mysterious seal branded on his right shoulder. A ring of electricity hummed around his wrist.
