Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Horizon of Forever (The Finale)

Three Months Later.

The island was a small, green jewel in the middle of the Aegean Sea. There were no satellites here. No high-speed fiber lines. No Agency.

Silas stood on the balcony of a small, white-washed villa, his skin tanned by the sun, his eyes finally clear of the ghosts that had haunted them for a decade.

He heard the sound of laughter from the beach. He looked down to see Leo—healthy, strong, and finally free—racing a golden retriever through the surf.

A pair of arms wrapped around Silas's waist from behind.

"You're thinking too much," Elara whispered, her face pressed against his back.

"I was just thinking that M was wrong," Silas said, turning in her arms.

"About what?"

"About spies not getting happily ever afters."

He reached out, his thumb tracing the gold band on her finger. Not the fake one from the mission. A real one.

"The Ghost is gone, Elara," he said, pulling her close. "And the Viper is dead. It's just us now."

Elara looked at the horizon, where the blue of the sea met the blue of the sky. "I like 'just us'. It's the best mission we've ever had."

They stood there for a long time, watching the sun set over a world they had saved in the shadows, finally ready to live in the light.
