Chapter 113 - Chapter 106: The Devs' Relentless Malice

"Gaia was right. The Cyclops really does require an insane amount of grinding to build," Benjamin's voice continued.

"This thing can be used to dock both the Seamoth and the Prawn Suit at the same time, and it's even faster than the Seamoth. The downside is that because it's so massive, it can't maneuver through rugged and complex terrain. But regardless, if you want to complete the rest of the game, this is an absolutely essential vehicle."

"Alright then, we are now officially setting off in the Cyclops, heading straight for the Disease Research Facility!" Benjamin said as he started the engine.

The massive Cyclops continued to dive, heading for the research center at a depth of 1,200 meters.

After driving downward for about twenty minutes, the surrounding environment began to change. Those Anchor Pods disappeared, and the blue light vanished along with them.

However, the surroundings didn't plunge into pitch darkness. The seabed ahead formed a massive cave over a hundred meters in diameter. On the seabed at the bottom of the cave flowed a green river. It was the eerie green glow emitting from the river water that illuminated the surrounding area.

It was exactly this glowing green river that lit up the entire region!

[Holy crap, how is there a river at the bottom of the ocean?]

[And a glowing green river at that!]

[But this green river really does look beautiful!]

As the viewers marveled, Benjamin's voice rang out, "Guys, don't be fooled by how pretty it is. In reality, this river below is entirely made of highly corrosive acid. You can call this place the Lost River."

[The Lost River? That name is actually quite poetic. But just thinking about how the water is made of strong acid makes my scalp tingle!]

[Damn, a river formed by pools of strong acid. If a person fell in, they'd probably be corroded cleanly away!]

[It's fine. As long as you don't stupidly jump into it, there won't be any problems!]

The viewers chattered continuously. In the video, Benjamin piloted the submarine, continuing forward along the Lost River.

But less than ten minutes into their advance, Benjamin scanned a creature ahead through the sonar system:

A humanoid torso with octopus-like tentacles for a tail. It was a Warper!

[There's a Warper up ahead!]

[Stay calm, a single Warper poses no threat!]

[True that. This thing barely has any attack power. It needs other predators to cooperate with it to kill players...!]

[Then why did the devs put a Warper here? To give players target practice?]

[I'm betting Benjamin is about to go solo this Warper right now!]

The viewers discussed among themselves, but then they heard Benjamin's solemn voice. "Guys, you have to pay close attention to this spot. See that Warper ahead? This is a trap laid out by the devs!"

"He only placed a single Warper here, and there are no other terrifying creatures around. It looks like a perfect opportunity for players to solo a Warper, but don't forget, there's a fucking Lost River here!"

"If we let it go to our heads and rush up to fight this Warper, we'll be falling right into his trap. This Warper will directly teleport us into the Lost River, and then the player will be corroded to death by the acid. Don't ask me how I know. I fell for this exact trick once, and the feeling was fucking 'exhilarating!"

[Holy crap, so that's how it is!]

[F*ck me, if Benjamin hadn't warned us, I wouldn't have even realized the devs' conspiracy!]

[Haha, feeling sorry for Benjamin for a second!]

[The devs really go too far. They have players bitten to death by Reaper Leviathans, eaten alive by Biters, and now f*cking corroded to death by acid...]

[Yeah, there are way too many dumb ways to die!]

"So, for this area, the best method is to hug the cave wall, stay as far away from the Warper as possible, and drive past at top speed," Benjamin continued. "The Cyclops is very fast; the Warper won't be able to catch up."

Having said that, he immediately accelerated. The Warper was quickly left in the dust, entirely unable to catch up.

After navigating for another distance, the terrain ahead soon changed again. A cliff abruptly formed out of nowhere, and the highly acidic river cascaded straight down, creating an eerie green waterfall within the ocean.

"Pay attention."

Accompanied by Benjamin's words, the viewers suddenly saw a colossal skull resting horizontally within the Lost River!

The skull looked somewhat like that of a crocodile, but what was most striking about this thing was its size. Big, incredibly big, absurdly massive!

Just at a rough estimate, the skull's diameter was likely over two hundred meters, and its height was nearly a hundred meters!

[Holy crap, this head is way too huge!]

[It looks so fucking terrifying!]

[Just a single head seems to be the size of a football field. Damn!]

[It's a shame it's dead. If this thing were still alive, I feel like it could gulp down Reaper Leviathans in one bite.]

"Do you guys see it? Let me tell you, the first time I came here, I was scared out of my wits too!" Benjamin marveled alongside them. "I used Gaia to scan this skull and learned that this thing is called the Gargantuan Leviathan. And this is just a single head. Imagine if it were completely whole..."

[If it were whole, it would probably be several kilometers long! Insane!]

[Now this is what you call a true Leviathan!]

[Yeah. I wonder if the devs will ever recreate this Gargantuan Leviathan's living state. If they actually model it, it would definitely be a spectacular sight!]

[I have a feeling the devs might actually do just that. But it'll probably be an easter egg, not something easily found!]

"However, this place contains yet another of the devs' conspiracies!" Just as the players were discussing, Benjamin's voice rang out once more, warning them. "Don't swim over there to get a closer look at that massive skull just out of curiosity. Because hiding right inside that giant skull is another carnivorous Leviathan: the Ghost Leviathan."

"That thing hides inside the massive skull, blending in completely. You can't detect it with sonar. If you get too close to it, you'll be subjected to its frenzied attacks. Even the Cyclops can't withstand it. I'll demonstrate it for you right now!"

With that said, Benjamin piloted the Cyclops and launched a creature decoy torpedo.

Swish!

The creature decoy sped forward.

"Roar!!!"

In the next moment, a monstrous roar echoed out. The viewers watched as a translucent blue Leviathan suddenly burst from the mouth of the colossal skull, swimming toward the direction where the decoy had been launched!

This Ghost Leviathan had a serpentine body, roughly over ninety meters long. Its skin was completely transparent, allowing anyone to see the internal organs beneath. The most distinct feature was its massive, hammer-like head, which looked akin to a pair of bull horns. Without a doubt, that had to be the creature's weapon.

[Holy crap, there actually is a Leviathan camping inside it!]

[It's all f*cking traps!]

[That Ghost Leviathan looks like it's not something to be messed with either!]

 ↳ [No shit sherlock.]

"We can use a creature decoy to lure the Ghost Leviathan away, and then quickly pass through!" Benjamin said, pushing the speed to its maximum. He rapidly navigated through the area, putting more and more distance between them and the Ghost Leviathan.

After bypassing the enormous Gargantuan Leviathan skull, the Lost River ahead branched off. A large portion formed a current that continued flowing downward, while another distributary flowed into a nearby cave.

The Disease Research Facility was located inside that adjacent cave. Because the cave was too narrow for the Cyclops to enter, Benjamin had no choice but to pilot the Prawn Suit to proceed.

However, after practicing for a period of time, Benjamin had become quite proficient with his grappling hook maneuvers, much like using Camille's E skill. Diving into the cave, he progressed very smoothly. After turning past a rock wall, a massive structure appeared right before the viewers' eyes.

This building looked like a perfectly regular cube. Its overall style was identical to the alien bunker, an eerie emerald green, resembling a gigantic Rubik's Cube. At this moment, however, the structure was lodged diagonally into the seabed. It looked as if it had collapsed, with debris scattered all around it.
