Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: NPC Rescue Operation, Courage Bursts Forth

"Correct." Gaia gave an affirmative reply.

"That's great!" Jenny shouted right away. "Quick, quick, quick, play the broadcast!!"

"Playing."

An excited and terrified female voice suddenly rang out:

"Oh my god, this is Escape Pod Number 2. Everything was perfectly fine just now, but the escape pod's flotation system suddenly failed. I'm plunging straight down into the sea along with the escape pod!"

"Can anyone save me? I've attached my exact coordinates. Over!"

The broadcast was just these few short sentences. Jenny's face changed at once. The trouble this female crew member from Escape Pod Number 2 was facing seemed very serious.

"Beep. Coordinates for Escape Pod Number 2 have been recorded." Gaia's voice sounded once more.

The wristband lit up with a beam of light, showing Jenny/ the direction to Escape Pod Number 2. It also marked the coordinates and her current straight-line distance: 300m.

"So I'm only three hundred meters away from that Escape Pod Number 2?!" Jenny said in surprise.

"Correct." Gaia gave an affirmative reply.

"Three hundred meters, that distance..." Jenny gritted her teeth and stamped her foot. "Damn it, then I'll go and try to save her!"

As soon as Jenny spoke, the viewers in the live stream were all stunned.

[Is this the Jenny I know? She's actually not scared anymore!!!]

[She suddenly turned brave! Daring to dive in and save someone in such a terrifying environment?!]

[Jenny got this. Go for it!]

Heh, after all it's still a human life!" Jenny said as she began donning the oxygen tank.

Although she knew full well that the so-called other crew members in this game were nothing more than NPCs, everything around her was far too realistic. She had already begun treating Subnautica as another reality.

Not saving someone would leave me with an uneasy conscience.

Besides, if I really saved someone, then having an NPC to accompany me would be so much better than adventuring alone in the ocean!

Between the terror of the deep sea and saving a life, Jenny chose the latter.

"By the way, Gaia, can I send a broadcast to the other crew members?" Jenny asked again.

"Of course you can."

"Then I'll send one."

"Okay."

"Recording."

Jenny immediately shouted. "Escape Pod Number 2, this is Escape Pod Number 5. Hold on, I'm coming to save you!"

"Broadcast sent." Gaia announced.

"Okay." Jenny took a deep breath, looked at the pitch-black seawater, steeled her heart, and jumped straight into the sea.

Splash!

The light around her disappeared instantly, leaving only darkness. The only sound in her ears was the deep flow of water.

Jenny quickly took out her flashlight and lit up the way ahead.

However, the flashlight's light was weak and the range small, able to illuminate only about five or six meters around her.

This moment felt exactly like back in Silent Hill.

Only the narrow eerie corridor had turned into a sinister vast seabed.

In terms of terror, the latter was even more so.

[Hiss, this flashlight is too weak. I can't see the situation around me clearly at all!]

[Swimming in the deep sea with a flashlight in hand, just thinking about it is scary!]

[The atmosphere is too oppressive.]

[Jenny, be careful. In such a large ocean, there must be large carnivorous fish!]

The viewers watched with their hearts in their throats, but Jenny had after all gone through Silent Hill. At this point, she forcibly held back the fear in her heart and swam in the direction of Escape Pod Number 2.

"Don't be afraid. I'm going to save someone. I need courage!"

Jenny kept repeating this sentence over and over.

Because of the light, the small fish around her swam over curiously, circling around Jenny.

The appearance of these small fish and shrimp also reduced a lot of the fear in Jenny's heart. She worked hard to advance, swimming farther and farther from her own escape pod.

"Beep. Radio transmission received. Play it immediately?" Gaia suddenly spoke.

Another radio message?

"Play it." Jenny said in a low voice.

"Playing."

That familiar female voice rang out again. "This is Escape Pod Number 2. Escape Pod Number 5, thank you for your help. My escape pod has now stopped sinking. It should have landed on the seabed."

"I'm temporarily out of danger, but the backup oxygen system in the cabin seems to have broken. Oxygen is being used up little by little. I'm afraid I won't last much longer. Over."

Jenny's heart moved. She immediately sent a broadcast too:

"Escape Pod Number 2, please hold on. I'm only a little over two hundred meters away from you now."

After receiving the female crew member's response, Jenny immediately felt greatly encouraged. Her courage became even stronger, and she swam forward even more vigorously.

Jenny was getting closer and closer to Escape Pod Number 2. Wearing the haptic suit, she was already sweating all over. To save energy, she didn't chat with the live stream viewers anymore.

[Wow, Jenny is so focused. She's not even talking!]

[Jenny, keep going!]

[Yeah, keep going!]

For some unknown reason, even though it was just a game, the viewers' hearts were also tensed up.

The distance to Escape Pod Number 2 was already within one hundred meters.

But at this moment, a strange scene suddenly appeared ahead.
