Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Early morning in Beacon Academy is a pleasant thing.

With birds chirping outside the dorm building, the winds gently cooling the place thanks to the high altitude, and the nature surrounding the establishment as a whole.

A truly pleasant place.

And it is in such a pleasant state, one foreign to her homeland, that Weiss slept like a baby, lost in her equally pleasant dreams.

Unfortunately for the heiress, this peace will not last long.

A sudden, shrill whistle tore through this peaceful, quiet atmosphere, startling Weiss awake, along with nearly half of the nearby dorms who might have still been sleeping off yesterday's exhaustion.

Falling off her bed, Weiss glared up at one Ruby Rose, who had an excited grin on her face.

"Good morning! Team RIBWY!!"

Weiss growled at the young leader of her new team, Team Rainbow, and spoke through gritted teeth.

"What in the world is wrong with you?"

Ruby ignored the heiress's words and continued with her spiel.

"Now that you are awake, we can officially begin our first order of business."

Weiss finally got to her feet and growled.

"Excuse me!?"

"Decorating!!"

Yang's excited voice drew Weiss's attention to the other two girls in the team, who were already dressed in their uniforms.

"What?"

Blake held up her suitcase.

"We still have to unpack-"

The case chose that exact moment to open on its own, dropping all its contents to the floor, much to the girl's annoyance.

"....Aaand Clean."

Weiss gave her a flat stare and searched for the last member of her unusual team, finding him sitting grumpily on his bed with a mug of coffee in his hands.

Truthfully, Weiss was very much unsure about sharing a room with a boy. Her closed-off nature fighting against the potential invasion of privacy and the innate sense of danger that most girls felt towards the opposite sex every step of the way.

The only reason she even agreed to this arrangement was that, from what she saw so far, Ignis Ruben has had a relatively gentlemanly behaviour. Even if he was still a little bit of a lunatic in her mind.

That, and the fact that he is an extremely competent fighter and was someone she used to admire until she met him directly.

Yang caught Weiss's look and smirked.

"Yeah, don't worry about him. He is always grumpy like that in the morning until he gets his dose of caffeine. Or Ruby causes an explosion. Either method works to bring him out of his funk!"

"Hey!!"

Ruby shouted in protest, but the girls ignored her.

Weiss sighed, realizing that her life was going to be very chaotic in the coming four years with such a....colorful team.

"Fine. Do as you please."

She picked up her uniform and other stuff and headed straight for the bathroom.

By the time she came out, the team was already waiting for her, including Ignis, who looked far more awake and ready for the day, except for the fact that he hadn't changed into his uniform yet.

Glancing at him, Weiss motioned towards the bathroom.

"It's free, go change up."

"Thanks."

Within a few minutes, he too was ready.

Only when everyone was ready did Ruby start the next part of her agenda for the day.

"Alright! Ignis, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and their fearless leader Ruby have begun their first mission! Banzia!!"

""Banzai""

"...When did you three become Mistralian?"

Ignis commented as he sat on his bed, watching the drama unfold, while Weiss placed her face in her palms.

However, in the end, they followed Ruby's words and started decorating the room with paintings, bookshelves, posters, and so much more.

Unfortunately, they immediately realized how cramped the room was, remembering what Ozpin had told them about being cramped as a five-member team.

"....This is not going to work."

Weiss muttered

"It really is cramped. I thought we would manage, but I guess Professor Ozpin was right to warn us."

Blake's comment received nods from the others.

"Maybe we should ditch some of our stuff?"

Ignis would have agreed to Yang's suggestion immediately if it were not for the fact that his side of the room was basically Spartan, with nothing more than a few books and his weapons placed by his bed.

Ruby placed her hand on her chin and stared at the room.

"Or, we could ditch the beds.....and replace them with Bunk Beds!!"

Weiss gave her a skeptical look.

"That sounds incredibly dangerous-"

"-And super awesome!"

Yang interrupted. But Ignis sighed.

"Hate to break it to you, but that ain't going to work. Unless we order custom Bunk Beds from the city, which I could do, but would take time..."

"Well, it does seem efficient to have two bunk beds and one individual bed instead of five separate beds."

Blake's words made Weiss's mood plummet even more.

"Well, we should put it to a vote!!"

"I think we already did."

Ruby said with a smirk.

Blake agreed with the idea, and so did Yang. Ignis just looked done with the shenanigans, regretting his choice in team already, while Ruby grinned at Weiss.

"...Fine."

Then, the team got to work, placing one bed on top of another to create bunk beds while leaving Ignis's bed alone.

Unfortunately, the end result was far from what they had imagined.

"....Yeah, no. That is a disaster waiting to happen."

"Agreed."

Weiss immediately agreed with Ignis's words and stepped back a little with trepidation, not trusting the beds held up with nothing more than stacked books and ropes tied to the ceiling.

Once again, like an old man burdened with too much, Ignis sighed.

"Alright. Leave the problem of those bunk beds to me. I'll get to work on making some proper modifications once the classes are done. Based on what I've seen, I'll probably need some 2x4's, nails, brackets, and a few other things."

At his words, Weiss and Blake gave the teenager a surprised look before Weiss asked the question on both their minds.

"You know carpenting?"

Ignis gave the girls a wry smile as Ruby and Yang lit up.

"He knows more than that. He knows architecture, he can make camps, and he can even build a log cabin. He also cooks!"

The sisters looked like they might drool on the spot as Ruby spoke with a zeal in her voice that unnerved Weiss.

"His cookies are to die for!! The best in the world right after mom's!"

"Ok, that is an exaggeration."

Ignis interrupted the girls.

"Now, Ruby? I thought we had other things on the agenda today?"

He quickly diverted her attention away from speaking about his skill sets, feeling very uncomfortable with the stares directed at him by both Weiss and Blake.

Ruby nodded and took out her diary.

"Alright, our second order of business is....Classes."

"Now, we have a few classes together today. From tomorrow, there will be a few classes that we will be taking with the second years as well. For today, we have our first class at 9 AM, which is Grimm Studies, followed by Dust Studies at 10:30 AM, and then there is a free period until lunch, which starts at 12:30 PM. Then we have our final class, History, at 1:30 PM. After that, we have the rest of the day free. But starting from tomorrow, I see that the schedule is going to change completely."

The team nodded at the schedule as Weiss looked up at the clock, which showed 8 AM.

It was a good thing that they woke up when they did. Something that Weiss acknowledged grudgingly since she really might have overslept if Ruby had not woken her up.

Although, based on what she heard, it was Ignis who woke up the rest of the girls beforehand, so she guessed she owed him a thanks as well.

"We still have an hour till classes. How about grabbing some breakfast in the meantime?"

As one, team RIWBY walked out of their room, only to hear the thunderous snores from the door right across them, belonging to team JNPR.

"Nora?"

"Nora."

The team nodded as one, directly singling out the culprit.

"Looks like those guys are still sleeping. Either they don't know the schedule, or their alarms failed somehow. How about waking them up?"

Weiss shook her head at Ignis's suggestion.

"Let's mind our own business. If they are tardy, then they can only blame themselves."

"Aw! Don't be so cold, Ice Queen. They are our friends after all!!"

Yang wrapped her arm around Weiss's shoulder, making the heiress glare at her lightly while swatting at the blond's hand.

Meanwhile, Ruby enthusiastically got to work on banging on Team JNPR's door.

Pyrrha was the one to open the door slightly, revealing a haggard look and tired eyes.

"What?"

The direct, irritated tone caught Weiss off guard, who was not used to the ever polite Pyrrha's new tone. The image of the 'Invincible Girl' in her heart slowly cracked at the sight.

'....Why are all the people I used to admire so....different from what I imagined?'

She lamented in her heart as Ruby enthusiastically spoke about the class schedule, making adrenaline shoot through Pyrrha's body and jolt her fully awake.

The next few minutes were pure pandemonium in team JNPR's room as team RIWBY leaned against the walls of the corridor, waiting for their friends.

Finally, once team JNPR came out fully dressed and ready, the group moved towards the cafeteria.
