Chapter 4 - COFFEE, COOKIES AND CONFESSIONS

AMAYA ROSE POV

After breakfast, I freshened up and texted Aria to meet me at Cafe '7 which was around the corner. She tried getting the reason out of me but I told her I'll inform her once we meet.

I applied my lotion and headed to my walk-in closet to decide on my outfit. I decided on black cargo pants, a white crop top, a pair of black and white Nike (cause why not, black and white rocks) and a black jacket to complete the fit. It was a little chilly so I threw on a coat, put on my jewelry, grabbed my phone and purse and was set to go.

Mum and Dad were gone by the time I was ready. Dad had to go to the office while Mum went to see some of her friends. Probably to brag about me getting married. I decided to walk there since it was just two blocks away plus I'm sure Ria will take her pretty time to get ready.

I walked down the sidewalk, stepping on some dried-up leaves that had fallen from the trees. It was Saturday morning so not many people were outside. A lot of people preferred staying in on Saturdays, me included.

I smiled as I saw a couple being all lovey-dovey through a cafe's glass. I wonder if that will be Lucas and I one day. Damn it Amaya, why will you think about that. I increased my pace as I touched my already heated cheeks.

Hopefully the cold calms them down before I reach the cafe, if not, I won't be hearing the end of this.

I pushed open the cafe door, that familiar bell ringing in my ears. "Good morning Scott", I smiled at the barista.

"Well look who we have here, isn't it my favorite customer, it's been a while"

"Yeah, been busy with work, with the fashion week drawing nearer and all", I replied standing in line to order.

"Well of course, miss workaholic, how can I forget, how's that going by the way?", Scott asked making my coffee.

"It's going well, hopefully well enough for us to make a difference", Scott is a middle aged man, he runs this Cafe with his wife Matilda. Speaking of Matilda. "Where's Matilda?"

"Right here honey", Matilda came from the back with a tray of cookies in her hands. "Look who finally remembered us", she said placing the cookies in the cookie jar. I tried grabbing one but she slapped my hand.

"Ouch"

"These are for the customers", Was her reply.

"But I'm also a customer", I huffed.

"Oh really, last I remember, I haven't seen you in weeks"

"Like I was telling your husband, I've been busy, please forgive me", I tried using my signature puppy dog eyes. "I have a new recipe for you"

"Now we're talking", Matilda smiled. I knew how to get to her.

"Here's your coffee, your usual", Scott placed the cup of coffee in front of me.

"Thank you Scott", I smiled at him.

"Have some cookies, it's on the house", Matilda plated some cookies for me.

"I knew you could never stay angry at me for long", I took a bite from a cookie as the flavor melted in my mouth. "Gosh, I've missed this, thank you Matilda", I said picking up my coffee and cookies to head to my table.

"Don't forget the recipe", She shouted after me.

"Sure thing", I settled on my usual table next to the window, watching the people pass by as I munched on my cookie and sipped my coffee.

The sound of the doorbell broke me from my trance as I looked up to see Aria walking in. She was dressed hot as usual, still wearing her 6 inches heel. This girl I tell you.

"Good morning Scott", she greeted Scott before walking to the table where I sat.

"Morning Aria", Scott replied as Matilda scoffed.

She never liked Aria and believed she was bad influence. I understand where she's coming from though.

"Hey girl", Aria stole my cookie as she sat opposite me.

"45 minutes, that's a broken record. But really Aria, short skirt and heels?", I eyed her dressing.

"What? A girl has to look her best, you dunno where you'll meet your prince charming"

"Forget I asked"

"So cut to the chase, what big news did you wake me up from my beauty sleep for?, It's Saturday for goodness sake"

"I promise it's something really important", Scott brought Rias coffee over.

"Thanks Scotty", Ria winked at him. She's just doing that to spite Matilda.

"Before that, how was your date?"

"Ohhhhh, don't get me started, it was horrible. He was talking about himself throughout, Soo annoying, don't remind me about it", I could tell just how horrible it was just from her facial expression so I decided not to poke into it more.

"Remember the day when you told me Lucas was possibly getting married....", She nodded to this while sipping her coffee. "...I know who he's getting married to"

"Well spill it girl, don't keep me in suspense"

"I'm the one he's getting married to", I spilled the tea. Ria was quiet for a while before she started to laugh.

"Oh Maya, you got me, I actually thought you were serious", She looked up at me. "Why aren't you laughing with me, come on"

I still had a straight face. "It's not a joke? This isn't one of your dream fairytales?"

"Remember I told you mum and dad wanted to discuss something with me the other night...", Ria nodded recalling. "....his parents sent a marriage proposal for him, you remember I told you his dad and mine were friends", I half lied not telling her the actual truth. I sipped the last of my coffee as I recollected the nights event skipping the debt part of course and the part that it was actually Lucas who proposed the marriage.

"Wow, this is real. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for you. I mean you're getting married to one of the top billionaires in the country, not to mention that he's really hot", of course she had to be perverted in a time like this.

"You go girl, your dream is finally coming true. We need to toast to that, like real drinks, not coffee. It's not Friday but Saturday works too and I won't take no for an answer", I hadn't yet had the time to swallow this news. I knew what she was hinting. I wasn't a club person but I do agree with her about having to celebrate. There's no harm there. Right?

Wronggg.

I didn't realize just how much I would regret this decision.
