The woman in the bathroom had difficulty with her legs. After falling, she struggled hard but couldn't get up.
Alex watched for a while, finding it hard to bear. Inside the house, it was pitch black; only his enhanced physique allowed him to see faintly.
Not hesitating any longer, Alex held his breath and walked in.
The sound of footsteps made the woman's furrowed brow relax slightly. She then asked, "A-Qiu, did you borrow the medicine?"
Alex didn't make a sound. He was behind the woman, so she couldn't see him. He crouched down to help her up.
When his hand touched her skin in the darkness, it felt like touching an incredibly smooth piece of cold jade, causing Alex's heart to skip a beat before he continued.
The woman didn't mind his silence, nor did she notice the slight stiffness in his movements. Coughing, she said, "It's not good to disturb others so late. It's not a big deal anyway; I'll be better in a few days. Hey, don't help me onto the wheelchair. I need to pee."
Alex broke into a cold sweat internally. He quickly helped her over and sat her down. Chen Luoqiu's mother had great difficulty walking; ordinary support couldn't easily get her seated. Alex had to put his arms under her armpits from behind, lifting her like holding a child, and placed her on the toilet seat, facing away, straddling it.
Fortunately, she was facing away, and due to her illness, her mental state wasn't sharp, so she didn't notice the 'daughter's' abnormality.
Once seated, she said again, "Wait a moment. After I'm done, help me back onto the wheelchair."
Alex stood there, his entire body rigid. At that moment, he deeply hated his exceptional eyesight; even the most minuscule details couldn't escape his vision.
He didn't know how long it took before the sound that brought him immense relief finally came.
"Done."
He quickly helped her back onto the wheelchair. Alex stood behind her, keeping himself out of her sight, and pushed the wheelchair out.
"That boy named Long Tao, are you still in contact with him?" the woman asked, gossiping.
Alex felt embarrassed again internally, not knowing how to answer.
His silence seemed to dampen the woman's spirits a bit. She sighed softly and said, "Don't work too hard. If it feels right, try dating. Mom believes in your judgment of people."
Alex was moved. He reached out and gently patted her shoulder.
Back in the room, she could get into bed by herself and didn't need his help. Still, Alex stood nearby to ensure she wouldn't fall.
Then Alex left the room.
He didn't notice that in the darkness, the woman's eyes lit up. She bit her lip shyly and murmured to herself, "A man's hand."
Chen Luoqiu returned soon after. First, she kissed Alex, then went into the room, turned on the light, and gave her mother the medicine. An offhand comment from her mother made her pause.
"Why didn't you say anything when I asked you in the bathroom just now? I thought you didn't get the medicine."
Chen Luoqiu saw the red mark from a fall on her mother's knee, was slightly taken aback, then smiled as usual: "I forgot."
After taking the medicine, the woman's mental state improved somewhat. She patted the back of Chen Luoqiu's hand: "Go to sleep. Such a good child."
Chen Luoqiu's expression turned strange as she left the room.
