Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: How to Earn System Points!

Back at his lodgings, Leon finally had time to take a closer look at the system.

Leon was able to play for Leoia entirely because he cost them nothing.

His weekly wage was zero.

But the club covered his meals and accommodation.

Leoia's accommodation was decent enough.

Since many of the local players went home to rest, the dormitory was mostly empty.

At the moment, only Leon Feng and Hachim Mastour were staying there.

That was also why the two of them got along relatively well.

The system was divided into six modules.

[Attribute Exchange -> System Shop (300 points) -> Badge System (500 points) -> Bond System (1,000 points) -> Trait System (5,000 points) -> Talent System (10,000 points)]

At present, only the Attribute Exchange module was unlocked.

All other modules were greyed out.

They would unlock once the system points earned through matches and system tasks reached the required threshold.

Unlocking did not consume system points.

The only module Leon could currently access was Attribute Exchange.

Leon first checked his current stats.

Acceleration: 6, Agility: 6, Balance: 5, Jumping Reach: 6, Natural Fitness: 5, Pace: 7, Stamina: 15, Strength: 12

Starting Talent: Must-Save on One-on-One!

It was clear that Leon's mental attributes were outstanding across the board.

That was obviously tied to everything he had been through growing up.

His technical and physical attributes, on the other hand, were riddled with weaknesses.

To put it bluntly, he was a weakling.

Attribute values could be upgraded using system points.

Attributes from 1 to 5 cost 10 system points each.

Attributes from 6 to 10 cost 50 system points each.

Attributes from 11 to 15 cost 100 system points each.

Attributes from 16 to 20 cost 500 system points each.

The maximum value was 20.

System points could also be earned in several ways.

Completing system tasks granted large amounts of system points.

Points could also be earned through matches as follows:

[Saving a shot: 1 point]

[Saving a one-on-one: 10 points]

[Saving a direct free kick: 5 points]

[Saving a penalty: 20 points]

[Winning a match: 10 points]

[Drawing a match: 5 points]

[Keeping a clean sheet: 20 points]

[Scoring a goal: 10 points]

[Providing an assist: 5 points]

The match that had just ended had earned Leon 60 system points.

Combined with the 100 system points rewarded for completing the system task, Leon now had a total of 160 system points.

Beyond those two methods, system points could also be earned through training.

However, compared to completing system tasks and playing matches, training yielded considerably fewer points.

But even small amounts could add up over time.

Leon let out a long breath.

The night had grown late.

The other greyed-out modules were still inaccessible, and he would have to wait until they unlocked before he could explore them.

That night, Leon slept more soundly than he had in a long time.

Everything was about to change.

"Creak!"

"Bang!"

The slightly worn door frame made quite a noise.

'You have to be kidding me, he's gone training again?'

'It's only four in the morning!'

Hachim Mastour rubbed his eyes.

His room was right next to Leon's.

Every morning he could hear the racket from that old door frame.

Rain or shine, it never failed.

Normally, Hachim Mastour would just roll over and go back to sleep.

But today, he decided to get up and have a look.

Leon's stunning performance in last night's match had caught him completely off guard.

Hachim Mastour knew Leon's ability well enough.

Hardworking, but that was about the extent of it.

Yet last night's save on the one-on-one and the penalty stop had clearly reached the standard of a world-class goalkeeper.

That was honestly unsettling.

Could it be that Leon's relentless daily training had finally triggered a qualitative breakthrough?

"Morning."

By the time Hachim Mastour arrived at the training ground, Leon was already running laps.

The sweat dripping from his head made it obvious he had already completed quite a few.

Sarria Stadium was fairly basic, and there was no groundskeeper on duty.

Leoia did not have their own dedicated training facility either.

Day-to-day training was conducted here at the stadium.

[Ding! Congratulations, host! 10 laps completed! 1 system point earned!]

[Ding! Congratulations, host! 50 goalkeeping drills completed! 2 system points earned!]

As Leon and Hachim Mastour trained together, system notification chimes kept sounding in his mind at regular intervals.

This only filled Leon with even more drive.

Before the system had activated, Leon had already been able to sustain a punishing volume of training.

His Stamina had reached 15 and his Strength had reached 12 in his physical attributes.

That was what all this training had built.

Now that training could also earn system points, Leon pushed himself even harder than before.

As for the physical toll that overtraining might take on his body, that was something he could not afford to worry about right now.

What Leon was fighting for was a consistent starting opportunity.

For a goalkeeper, it was either you were the first choice or you sat on the bench for an entire season.

There was no third option.
