Chapter 400 - Rasenshuriken

Chapter 400: Naruto's New Signature Move — Wind Release: Rasenshuriken

Deep within the isolated expanse of the Tianyu Space, violent gales tore across an endless grassy plain. The air itself felt heavy, suffocating under the pressure of erratic chakra currents.

A dull, concussive explosion shattered the silence.

Two thick plumes of white smoke erupted into the sky. Caught in the center of the blast, Naruto's main body was violently flung backward by a massive recoil force. He tumbled across the earth, rolling over a dozen times, tearing up clumps of dirt and grass before finally coming to a messy, sprawling halt.

"Cough... cough..."

He scrambled to his knees, spitting out a mouthful of dirt. His iconic orange tracksuit hung off his frame in ragged, shredded strips, completely decimated by the high-pressure wind blades that had spiraled out of control.

"Damn it..." Naruto muttered, his voice hoarse. He lowered his gaze to his trembling right hand. His five fingers were scorched a sickening black, wisps of acrid smoke curling upward from the blistered skin. "It failed again."

Exhausted, he collapsed backward, lying spread-eagled on the ruined grass. His chest heaved violently, dragging in ragged breaths.

It was simply too difficult.

The Rasengan was already the absolute pinnacle of chakra shape transformation. To forcibly inject the erratic, cutting nature of Wind into that perfectly balanced, ultimate shape was a paradox. It was like asking a man to look left and right at the exact same time. It fundamentally defied the laws of ninjutsu.

'Hey, brat.'Deep within his mental space, Kurama's deep, lazy drawl echoed through the darkness.'How long are you going to lie there in the dirt? Is your grand resolve to become stronger really only worth this much?'

Naruto's eyes snapped open. He abruptly sat up, ignoring the stinging pain in his hand.

"Shut up, you damn fox!" he snapped back. "I've only just begun!"

The entire Ninja World teetered on the precipice of an unmatched war. Although his master, Uchiha Akira, had casually dismissed the newly formed Allied Shinobi Forces as a mere rabble of hypocrites, Naruto understood the sheer weight of the situation. This was the desperate, unified counterattack of all the hidden villages.

As the direct disciple of the Hokage, and as a core pillar of Konoha's future, he could not afford to be weak. He had to become stronger. He needed enough power to stand proudly beside his master on the battlefield, not cower forever in the safety of his shadow.

"Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Massive clouds of white smoke billowed across the plain, obscuring the sky.

"Everyone! Let's go again!" The army of identical blond clones roared in unison, their voices echoing like thunder.

Without wasting a single second, the clones began pairing up, diving right back into the frantic, grueling practice of fusing shape and nature transformation.

Hours bled away.

Finally, the clones began to dispel one by one, sending a massive influx of accumulated experience, fatigue, and muscle memory rushing directly into the original's brain. Naruto squeezed his eyes shut, absorbing the mental toll, then took a long, deep breath.

He extended his right hand once more. Two remaining Shadow Clones flanked him, their expressions mirroring his intense focus.

This specific formation was the desperate shortcut he had painstakingly devised after countless days and nights of agonizing trial and error. Since a single person could not possibly manage both the extreme shape and the volatile nature transformations simultaneously, he would simply divide the labor. He would use three people.

The original body would be responsible for releasing and providing the base chakra. The first clone would focus entirely on containing and maintaining the spherical shape of the Rasengan. The second clone would be solely dedicated to injecting and compressing the razor-sharp Wind nature into the spinning core.

"Begin!" Naruto commanded.

A dense, brilliant blue chakra sphere rapidly materialized in his open palm. Irregular, turbulent currents immediately began spinning wildly around the orb, fighting against the containment.

"Inject the wind!"

The Shadow Clone on his right gritted its teeth, its hands hovering over the sphere as it forcefully compressed highly concentrated, blade-like Wind chakra directly into the core of the Rasengan.

Zzzzzzz—

The previously stable blue orb began to tremble violently, threatening to tear itself apart. A piercing, high-pitched screech of friction tore through the air, sounding like a thousand screaming birds trapped in a cage.

"Hold steady!" Naruto roared over the deafening noise. "You have to hold it steady!"

Thick blue veins bulged across Naruto's forehead. He ground his teeth together so hard his jaw ached, pouring every ounce of his willpower into keeping the volatile energy from detonating in his face.

Slowly, agonizingly, the chakra sphere in his hand began to mutate. Four massive, glowing white blades of pure wind extended outward from the equator of the originally smooth orb. Spinning at terrifying speeds, the construct took on the unmistakable silhouette of a gigantic shuriken.

Yet, it was incredibly unstable. The violent, untamed wind chakra flickered and warped, threatening to explode and shred them all to pieces at any given second.

"It's still not enough!" Naruto let out a guttural roar, feeling the jutsu slipping from his grasp. "Kurama! Lend me some power!"

'Tch, what a troublesome brat,' the massive fox grumbled from within the seal.

Despite the complaint, the Nine-Tails cooperated flawlessly, flooding the boy's network with a massive surge of dense, potent energy. Bubbling red chakra surged through Naruto's meridians, racing down his arm and pouring directly into his right hand.

The volatile technique, which had been mere fractions of a second away from a catastrophic collapse, miraculously stabilized under the overwhelming pressure of the tailed beast's power.

The piercing shriek escalated into an ear-splitting, high-pitched whine. A terrifying, high-frequency vibration rippled outward, shaking the very air across the entire plain. A blinding white light flared, illuminating Naruto's determined, sweat-drenched face.

There, hovering just millimeters above his palm, was the completed masterpiece.

A high-speed, rotating white sphere of blinding light, flanked by four massive, razor-sharp wind blades. The sheer rotational force created a localized vacuum, instantly sucking the surrounding air dry. The grass beneath his feet was violently ripped out by the roots, dragged into the gravitational pull of the sphere, and instantly pulverized into microscopic dust.

"Suc... success!" the two Shadow Clones shouted in sheer exhaustion and excitement, before simultaneously vanishing in twin puffs of white smoke, their chakra reserves completely drained.

Naruto stared down at the blinding construct spinning in his hand. He could feel it humming against his skin. The terrifying, apocalyptic power contained within this single sphere was unlike anything he had ever created.

"This is..." he whispered, his blue eyes reflecting the brilliant light. "Wind Release: Rasenshuriken!"

His gaze sharpened into daggers. The ground beneath his feet instantly crumbled under the sheer pressure radiating from his body.

Because this technique was newly born and not yet fully stabilized, he knew he could not throw it. If it left his hand, it would dissipate. It could only be used as a devastating, point-blank melee strike.

Leaping forward, Naruto slammed the Rasenshuriken directly into the earth a few meters away, immediately using the violent kinetic rebound to launch himself backward as fast as his legs could carry him.

"Break... now!!!"

A blinding, absolute white light erased the world.

It was the catastrophic detonation of Wind Release chakra that had been compressed to its absolute physical limit. The surrounding landscape was instantly swallowed whole by a massive, rapidly expanding hemispherical dome of pure, destructive light.

A fraction of a second later, the delayed, colossal boom finally hit.

The earth itself seemed to groan in agony as the crust was torn open. Violent, hurricane-force air currents mixed with pulverized bedrock, forming a devastating, physical shockwave that swept outward in all directions. Any stray Shadow Clones lingering on the periphery of the plain were treated like fragile soap bubbles before the blast, instantly popping into large clusters of white smoke as the shockwave annihilated them.

The enormous white dome of swirling energy persisted for a full, agonizing dozen seconds.

Inside that blinding sphere, utter annihilation was taking place. All matter trapped within the dome—solid rock, packed dirt, and lush vegetation—was subjected to hundreds of millions of microscopic, razor-sharp cuts per second.

By the time the howling winds finally died down and the dome slowly dissipated into the atmosphere, the landscape had been permanently altered. All that remained was a perfectly smooth, colossal crater stretching hundreds of meters in diameter.

Far beyond the crater's edge, Naruto lay completely motionless, sprawled awkwardly on his back. His right arm, from the fingertips to the elbow, had turned a sickening, necrotic purplish-black.

"Hoo... hoo..."

He gasped for air, painfully rolling his head to stare up at the artificial sky of the Tianyu Space.

It hurt. The pain was excruciating, a deep, agonizing burning that seemed to radiate from his very marrow. He didn't even have the strength to twitch a single finger.

"Is this... the price of the new technique?" Naruto managed a weak, wry smile.

The destructive power was frighteningly immense, capable of erasing an enemy from existence. But the physical backlash was equally terrifying.

A faint distortion rippled through the air. A tall, imposing figure materialized silently beside the fallen boy.

Uchiha Akira looked down at the half-dead Naruto sprawled in the dirt, his dark, calculating eyes shifting to appraise the massive, perfectly carved crater in the distance.

"Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, huh," Akira mused, his voice calm and measured. "To be able to develop it in such a short time..." He looked back down at his disciple. "Naruto, you did well."

Hearing the rare, genuine praise from his master, Naruto managed to force a weak, signature grin onto his pale, sweat-drenched face.

"Hehe..." he chuckled, coughing slightly. "Of course... I'm the man who's going to surpass all the previous Hokage."

Akira's expression remained impassive as he smoothly squatted down beside the boy. He reached out, his gloved hand firmly grasping Naruto's gruesome, blackened right arm.

Naruto gasped sharply, his back arching off the ground as tears of pure agony pricked the corners of his eyes.

"Bear with it," Akira commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument. "The fundamental principle of this technique is to generate countless microscopic wind blades to attack the enemy on a cellular level. It completely severs the connection between the chakra network and the physical cells."

Akira's eyes analyzed the severe internal damage. "But, by that exact same logic, as the caster holding the technique, your arm is subjected to the exact same microscopic shredding. If you did not possess the inherent vitality of the Uzumaki Clan and the passive healing factor of the Nine-Tails, this arm would have been permanently destroyed the moment you struck the ground."

A warm, brilliant green glow ignited from Akira's palm.

Pure, highly concentrated Yang Release chakra flooded into Naruto's ruined limb. Nourished by the supreme life-giving energy, the necrotic, dying cells within Naruto's arm began to divide and regenerate at a visible, astonishing rate.

The sickening purplish-black bruising rapidly receded, peeling away to reveal fresh, tender pink skin growing in its place. In a matter of minutes, the gruesome injury that would have required immediate amputation in any normal hospital was flawlessly and completely restored.
