Chapter 356: Two Paths, Two Worlds
Facing the fierce offensive, Uchiha Akira remained entirely unperturbed. The screeching birds of the Chidori deafened the air, the jagged blue lightning illuminating the dim surroundings of the tower. It was getting closer. Kakashi's visible eye sharpened into a deadly glare, the concentrated chakra in his palm thrusting forward until it was less than half a meter away from the older Uchiha's chest.
It was precisely at this moment that Uchiha Akira moved.
No one clearly saw the motion. There was no shift in stance, no telegraphing of intent. They only heard a sickening, heavy thud that echoed over the dying screech of lightning.
Kakashi, who had been charging with overwhelming, unstoppable momentum just a fraction of a second prior, was instantly bent double. His spine bowed into an exaggerated, agonizing arc. The brilliant blue lightning of his Chidori shattered like fragile glass, scattering into harmless sparks.
The sheer kinetic force of the blow lifted him off his feet, sending his entire body hurtling backward through the air. He smashed violently into the reinforced stone wall of the adjacent tower. A massive, human-shaped crater exploded into the masonry upon impact, thick spiderweb cracks spreading wildly outward through the ancient stone. Dust and debris rained down.
"Cough, cough... Ugh!"
Blood sprayed from Kakashi's lips as he slid down the ruined wall. He collapsed to his knees, clutching his trembling abdomen. His visible eye was blown wide, his face etched with absolute horror.
That single kick had used no ninjutsu. It was pure, unadulterated physical strength. The speed had been so immense, so utterly overwhelming, that a prodigy like Kakashi had not even possessed the time to blink, let alone react.
"Kakashi!" Minato Namikaze cried out, his blue eyes contracting into pinpricks of alarm.
Beside him, Akimichi Choza let out a furious roar. The large man's chakra flared violently, his right palm immediately swelling to a monstrous size under the Partial Multi-Size Technique. His thick muscles tensed, his boots digging into the floor as he prepared to charge.
On the opposite flank, Aburame Shibi abandoned all hesitation. A dense, suffocating black cloud of parasitic destruction insects poured from his sleeves, buzzing with a frantic, lethal intensity that signaled imminent danger.
"Choza, Shibi! Stand down! Do not make any sudden moves!" Minato shouted, his voice cracking like a whip.
His analytical mind was already processing the terrifying reality of the exchange. If the man standing before them had been holding a kunai during that counterattack, Kakashi would already be a cooling corpse on the floor. Only those who stood directly in the crosshairs of Uchiha Akira could truly comprehend the suffocating pressure he exuded. It was glaringly obvious that the stranger had held back his lethal intent. Rushing into battle now, blinded by anger, would only foolishly escalate a conflict they were not prepared to win.
Choza and Shibi forced their movements to an abrupt halt. The giant hand shrank back to normal, and the swarm of insects hovered defensively as both men looked toward their blonde commander.
The tense atmosphere settled into a heavy, suffocating silence.
Akira casually brushed a speck of dust from his sleeve, his dark eyes sweeping over the Konoha shinobi with cold indifference.
"Although your subordinates are impulsive, you at least possess a shred of tactical discernment." His deep voice cut through the quiet, calm and utterly devoid of hostility. "I have no intention of starting a meaningless conflict with you."
He paused, his gaze locking onto Minato.
"Because if we were truly going to fight to the death... the current you are not my opponents. You would all be dead before you hit the ground."
Minato took a slow, measured breath, forcibly suppressing the icy shock gripping his chest. He deliberately lowered the three-pronged kunai in his hand, angling the blade toward the floor to signal that he harbored no immediate intention to attack.
"With the overwhelming power you possess, there is indeed no logical reason for you to lie to us," Minato admitted, his sharp blue eyes staring intently at the older Uchiha. "Then, could you explain exactly what this so-called Fifth Hokage title is all about?"
Akira observed the younger version of the Fourth Hokage standing before him. He let the silence stretch for a heartbeat before he slowly spoke.
"A parallel world."
The words hung heavily in the air.
"In this vast, infinitely expanding universe, time is not a single, rigid line. Because of differing choices made at certain critical nodes in history, the world's developmental trajectory shifts. Those deviations branch outward, thereby giving rise to completely different, independent parallel timelines."
Minato frowned deeply, the blonde bangs shadowing his eyes as his brilliant mind worked rapidly to digest the staggering concept.
"Are you saying... you come from another world entirely?" he asked, his tone laced with disbelief. "A world fundamentally similar to ours, yet one with a drastically different history?"
Akira nodded, his expression impassive.
"That is correct. In my world, Konoha's development trajectory took a much sharper, bloodier turn than yours. I purged the rotting internal corruption. I executed the decrepit old men who clung to power and hindered the village's true progress." A cold, triumphant glint flashed in his dark eyes. "I forged a unified peace through absolute strength, a peace that did not originally exist in the natural timeline. Therefore, I sit at the pinnacle of that world. I am the Fifth Hokage, Uchiha Akira."
Minato listened thoughtfully, his grip tightening marginally on his kunai. Hearing the man casually mention purging corruption and executing old men sent a cold spike of unease through his chest. He could easily guess which old men this ruthless Uchiha was referring to.
What exactly had the Hidden Leaf Village in that alternate world experienced to warrant such a bloody coup? A Hokage hailing from the Uchiha Clan? Based on everything Minato understood about the current political climate, such a reality was simply unbelievable. He knew intimately well just how strained and toxic the relationship was between the village leadership and the proud Uchiha Clan. For an Uchiha to seize the title of Hokage, the very foundational structure of that world must have undergone an devastating, violent upheaval.
While the adults processed the heavy political implications, Naruto stood nearby, looking completely and utterly lost. His blue eyes had practically turned into dizzying spirals. He could not grasp a single concept these people were discussing.
"Parallel... what?" Naruto groaned, his face scrunching up in agony. "Ahhh! I totally do not get it!"
He frantically scratched at his spiky blonde hair, shouting in frustration as he pointed an accusing finger directly at Uchiha Akira.
Akira ignored Minato's lingering shock. Instead, he shifted his attention to the loudmouthed genin. He looked Naruto up and down, his dark eyes sweeping over the boy's sloppy stance and unrefined chakra signature. Akira's brow furrowed slightly, his face settling into a mask of blatant dissatisfaction.
"Too weak," Akira stated flatly, shaking his head in disappointment.
Naruto felt completely exposed under that piercing, judgmental scrutiny. His cheeks flushed with indignity, and he thrust his neck forward, yelling at the top of his lungs, "What the hell are you talking about?! I am the man who is going to become Hokage!"
"Become Hokage?" Akira chuckled, a dry, mocking sound that lacked any real warmth. "With your pathetic current strength, forget about ever wearing the Hokage hat. You cannot even protect yourself against a stray kunai."
Before the hot-headed blonde could sputter out a furious retort, Akira casually dropped a bombshell that shattered the remaining tension in the room.
"It is a pity. In my world, you are my direct disciple."
A sharp gasp echoed through the tower. It came not only from Naruto but also from Minato standing nearby.
The custom kunai in Minato's hand genuinely slipped a fraction of an inch, his usually composed and gentle face now completely slack with utter astonishment.
'Naruto... is this terrifying man's disciple?'
The boy was receiving personal training under a ruthless, militant Fifth Hokage of the Uchiha Clan?
Naruto, meanwhile, stood frozen. His jaw had dropped so low it practically hit the stone floor. He pointed a trembling finger at Akira, then jabbed his thumb into his own chest, stammering over his words.
"You... you said I am your disciple in that world?!" He let out a loud, forced laugh. "What a joke!"
Minato forced himself to swallow the lump in his throat, rapidly composing his features as he carefully considered his next choice of address.
"Then, Uchiha... sir," Minato began, his tone respectful but probing. "Since you claim to have stumbled in here by accident, what was your original purpose for coming to the ruins of Loulan? Was your objective also to secure the power of the Dragon Veins?"
Akira shook his head, his dark hair shifting with the motion.
"It was genuinely an accident. I merely unintentionally triggered a volatile spacetime node during a separate matter, and the resulting tear allowed the immense chakra of the Dragon Veins to draw me into this era."
Minato nodded slowly, indicating his surface-level understanding of the explanation.
However, while the mechanics of a spacetime jutsu made logical sense to him, the overarching concept of a parallel world remained incredibly difficult to swallow. The theoretical physics of such a term were still far too advanced for the shinobi of this era to simply accept on blind faith.
Akira observed the stiff, wary postures of the Konoha ninja arrayed before him. He casually shrugged his broad shoulders, completely unbothered by their lingering suspicion.
"It seems it is difficult to make you believe the truth using mere words," Akira noted, a faint, amused smirk playing at the corner of his lips. "Since fate has granted us the fortune of this meeting... I suppose a demonstration is in order. Let the Naruto from my world introduce himself to you."
As his deep voice echoed through the chamber, Uzumaki Naruto blinked rapidly, looking utterly bewildered.
"The 'me' from your world?" the blonde genin echoed, looking around the empty air. "How are we supposed to meet? Is he just going to suddenly drop out of the sky?"
Standing safely near the back of the group, Queen Sara mirrored the boy's surprise. She nervously clutched the fabric of her lavish skirt, her beautiful eyes curiously examining the imposing figure of Uchiha Akira. A person from a parallel world? Could such an absurd, fantastical concept truly exist in reality?
Minato Namikaze's frown deepened, his tactical mind racing to anticipate the man's next move.
Just as he opened his mouth to speak, a strange, terrifyingly dense chakra fluctuation suddenly rippled outward from the empty air behind Uchiha Akira.
Akira's mind stirred, connecting with his dojutsu.
A swirling, pitch-black spatial rift tore open the fabric of reality directly behind him. The void churned for a fraction of a second before two distinct figures materialized onto the stone floor. It was Naruto and Gaara, whom Akira had just summoned directly from his Heavenly Domain Space.
"Teacher," the two boys spoke in perfect unison.
As soon as their boots touched the ground, they lowered their heads, bowing deeply and respectfully to the man standing before them.
Uchiha Akira merely offered a slight, approving nod.
