Chapter 891 - The Return of Divine Authority! Gods Are Merely Prey

Chapter 891: The Return of Divine Authority! Gods Are Merely Prey

Luo Hao's sudden arrival instantly seized the attention of the two Heretic Gods.

It was not her audacious words that drew their gaze, but the absolute pull of fate itself. The moment their eyes met, an instinctual recognition flared between them. Campione and Heretic God. Absolute, irreconcilable enemies.

"Hahaha! What a tremendous surprise to encounter a human hero here—a slayer of the divine, a Demon King walking upon the earth!"

The young man threw his head back, his wild laughter echoing across the storm-swept landscape. Despite his status as a Heretic God, his eyes held no trace of fear or wrath toward the Campione. Instead, they burned with an overflowing, ecstatic thirst for battle.

He was no ordinary deity. He was the Eastern God of War, Verethragna. Though his name carried Greek origins, in Persian mythology, he was revered as Bahram, the God of Victory. Endless triumph and eternal combat were carved into his very essence. Whether facing a fellow Heretic God or a Campione, his soul only hungered for the clash of steel.

"Godslayer, have you come to challenge me?" Verethragna asked, his voice ringing with anticipation.

Luo Hao merely cast a cold, dismissive glance his way. "Challenge?" she scoffed, her tone dripping with absolute contempt. "What a fanciful delusion. You are merely my prey."

[Ding! Doomsday Chat Group member Luo Hao has started a live broadcast!]

[Ding! Ren has entered the live broadcast room!]

[Ding! Mikasa has entered the live broadcast room!]

Mikasa: "What exactly is happening here?"

Emma: "It looks like a standoff."

Tatsumaki: "Hmm? What's that hideous thing standing in the storm? It looks like a monster."

Ren: "Well, believe it or not, that guy is a god."

Ren recognized Mekal and Verethragna instantly through the screen.

Misaka Mikoto: "A god? Since when are gods that ugly?"

Was Mekal truly ugly? Perhaps 'ugly' was not the right word, but he certainly lacked the sacred majesty one expected from a divine being. His wildly disheveled hair and a thick, tangled beard obscured the entire lower half of his face, giving him a strikingly feral appearance. To put it politely, he looked untamed. To put it bluntly, he was an absolute slob.

His attire was incredibly crude—a patchwork of dirty rags and rough leather strapped across his broad chest, with a coarse, burlap-like cloak draped over his massive shoulders. Only the bulging, vein-laced muscles rippling beneath his skin carried any real oppressive weight. Had no one called him a god, anyone would have mistaken him for a deranged butcher or a wandering vagrant.

Saeko Busujima: "Wait, the gods in Luo Hao's world should be Heretic Gods, right?"

Luo Hao: "That's right. These two are the Heretic Gods I found wandering the earth."

Shinobu Kocho: "Um, is it just me, or does that muscular god look incredibly furious?"

Luo Hao: "Oh, it's probably because I called them my prey. That tends to upset them."

Ren: "What are you planning to do?"

Luo Hao: "Slaughter them, of course."

"RRAAAAGH!"

Mekal unleashed a deafening roar that shook the very air.

"Whether you are a god or a Godslayer, how dare you look down on this old man?!" he bellowed, his voice like grinding thunder. "Come! Fight!"

Flashes of divine light erupted in his massive hands, solidifying into two thick, brutal clubs. These were his divine weapons: Yagrush and Aymur, the Chaser and the Driver.

"It seems the God King cannot wait to cross blades with you." Seeing Mekal's fury, Verethragna took a deliberate step back, graciously offering the battlefield to the two of them.

Luo Hao's eyes narrowed. "What? Are you trying to run away?" she demanded, her voice dropping to a chilling register.

Verethragna froze.

He slowly turned his head, his gaze locking directly onto Luo Hao. Their eyes met, sparking an invisible clash of lightning and hellfire in the space between them.

Silence hung heavy over the storm-battered ruins.

Then, Verethragna threw a hand over his face. "Hahahahaha!"

He erupted into a fit of wild, unrestrained laughter. "Oh, Godslayer! How delightfully arrogant you are!"

His laughter faded, replaced by a razor-sharp glare that pierced through the howling wind. "Running away? The concept of 'retreat' does not exist in my vocabulary!"

To a God of War, the very accusation was a mortal insult.

"Since you insist on fighting both me and the God King simultaneously, I shall grant your arrogant wish," Verethragna declared, his aura flaring. "But before we begin, please allow me to reclaim my stolen power."

As the words left his lips, a massive, ethereal phantom of an ancient ten-spoked wheel materialized behind him. Nine distinct crests glowed upon its surface. These were the physical manifestations of Verethragna's divine authority—the Ten Incarnations.

Each of the ten forms represented a different facet of his absolute power.

The First Incarnation, the Gale, granted instantaneous movement through the wind and the power to summon devastating storms.

The Second Incarnation, the Bull, bestowed superhuman strength and an indestructible divine physique.

The Fourth Incarnation, the Camel, amplified his physical strikes to devastating levels while granting immense regenerative abilities and immortality.

The Fifth Incarnation, the Boar, summoned a colossal divine beast capable of trampling anything in its path, while also granting the god himself a high-speed charging strike.

The Sixth Incarnation, the Youth, allowed him to protect humanity and command their absolute obedience, vastly enhancing the strength of those under his divine blessing.

The Seventh Incarnation, the Raptor, granted supreme divine speed and the power to eradicate curses and disasters.

The Eighth Incarnation, the Ram, allowed him to resurrect from the brink of death by consuming vast amounts of divine power.

The Ninth Incarnation, the Goat, manipulated thunderclouds to unleash apocalyptic lightning strikes while interfering with the minds of mortals.

The Tenth Incarnation, the Warrior, used deep knowledge to forge a golden sword capable of cleaving through and sealing divinity itself.

The fifteen-year-old boy standing before them was the physical manifestation of the Sixth Incarnation, the Youth.

The ten spokes and ten crests on the golden wheel represented these absolute authorities. Yet, one spoke remained empty, devoid of its glowing pattern. One authority was missing.

Suddenly, Verethragna shifted his gaze downward.

His eyes locked onto a specific spot in the distance—the exact location where Kusanagi Godou was hiding.

Godou, who had been watching the clash of titans in utter bewilderment, suddenly felt a terrifying, suffocating pressure lock onto him. His limbs went rigid, a cold sweat drenching his back as he stood frozen in place.

A split second later, his bag violently jerked upward.

Standing nearby, Erica Blandelli gasped as she watched a heavy stone tablet tear its way out of the fabric, shooting through the air directly toward Verethragna.

"What is that?!" she demanded hastily.

Godou grimaced, his face pale. "I don't know! Someone just shoved it into my hands and told me it was some kind of divine artifact!"

"Heh heh... This is my authority," Verethragna murmured, reaching out to catch the soaring stone tablet. The Prometheus Grimoire.

The moment his fingers brushed the stone, it dissolved into motes of golden light, flowing effortlessly into the massive wheel hovering behind him.

Instantly, the final empty spoke ignited, blazing with the crest of a majestic equine beast.

The Third Incarnation, the White Horse. The power to summon a divine steed that carried the sun itself, calling down apocalyptic solar flares to incinerate his enemies.

With his final authority returned, Verethragna was whole once more. A terrifying, complete God of Victory.

A feral grin split his face.

"I have returned!" he roared, pointing a commanding finger directly at Luo Hao.

"I am the strongest! I am the one who holds all victories!"

His voice echoed with absolute divine authority, trembling the very earth beneath their feet. "Whether human or demon—I am the one who crushes the hostility of all enemies! I shall strike down any foe that dares to stand before me!"

"Now tell me, Godslayer... are you ready to face my fighting spirit?!"
