The final wave grew stronger every minute.
The sky tore apart. Purple-black light fell like fire. New Quake spawns rose from every crack in the ground.
Kai stood in the middle of the chaos. Lira and Mira stood beside him.
His body was tired, but his mind was clear. It was clearer than it had been in weeks.
Solara's golden light appeared above the camp again.
The Lightkeeper looked down at him and spoke calmly. "The final crack is opening. The other gods are waking up. You must choose now, Kai Voss. Accept my help and I will remove Nyxar and Veyra from you for good. Or continue alone and risk losing yourself when the last wave hits."
Lira stepped closer to Kai. "Do not rush," she said. "Think about what you really want."
Mira held her cards tight. "Whatever you choose, we are with you," she said. "But please… stay our Kai."
Kai felt the two weakened gods inside him wake up fully.
Nyxar roared, "Do not trust her! She will erase us and then control you!"
Veyra whispered, "She offers power with chains. We offer power with freedom."
Kai closed his eyes for a moment.
He remembered waking up in the morgue. He remembered the first funny rich voice. He remembered laughing with Mira. He remembered the way Lira looked at him when she was worried.
He opened his eyes and looked at Solara.
"I want to stay myself," he said. "I do not want to be anyone's champion or tool. Can you help me without taking away my freedom?"
Solara's light dimmed a little.
"True freedom is rare when gods are involved," she said. "But I can give you a chance. If you accept me, I will help you seal the other two gods. In return, you will help me bring light to the broken world after the Quake. You will still be Kai Voss… mostly."
Kai felt the weight of the choice.
If he said yes, he might lose the last part of who he was. If he said no, the two gods inside him might grow strong again when the final crack opened.
Mira stepped forward. "Kai, remember when you were the Shadow King?" she said. "You almost lost everything. Do not make a deal with another god unless you are sure."
Lira looked at him with soft but strong eyes.
"You have fought so hard to stay you," she said. "Whatever you choose, I will stand beside you."
The ground shook hard.
A new giant Quake spawn rose right behind them. It was bigger than the others. It moved straight toward the scared people.
Kai reacted at once.
He used shadow step, wind dash, and stone skin together. He charged at the spawn.
His punch hit hard. The creature screamed and staggered back.
Mira threw her strongest cards.
"Fire Burst Card! Shadow Chain Card! Kai's Will Card!"
Lira sent her silver threads to tie the spawn's legs.
They fought as one team but more spawns kept rising and the final wave was at its peak.
Solara watched from above and said, "Time is running out, Kai. The other gods are waking up inside you. Choose now or lose the chance."
Kai felt Nyxar and Veyra push harder than ever.
Nyxar shouted, "Reject her! We can make you a king!"
Veyra whispered, "She will use you and throw you away."
Kai's head hurt from their fight.
He looked at Lira and Mira fighting beside him and made his decision.
He shouted up at Solara, "I will not become anyone's champion! I will fight the gods inside me myself! I choose to stay free!"
Solara's light dimmed.
"A brave choice," she said. "But a dangerous one. When the final crack fully opens, the other gods will try to take you completely. I hope you are ready."
Her golden light faded and disappeared.
The moment she was gone, Nyxar and Veyra attacked Kai's mind with full force.
Pain exploded in his head.
He fell to his knees and screamed.
Lira and Mira ran to him.
Lira wrapped him in her strongest healing threads. "Fight them, Kai!" she said. "You are stronger than both of them!"
Mira threw every card she had left.
"Calm Card! Will Card! Friendship Card!"
The cards burst around Kai with warm light.
Kai screamed again as the two gods fought inside him for control.
His eyes changed between normal, purple, and misty gray.
His voice switched fast.
"I am Kai!"
"No, you are mine!"
"Serve us!"
"I choose me!"
The ground shook harder.
The biggest crack yet opened in the center of the camp. From it rose something terrifying. A giant portal of pure Veil energy.
Nyxar and Veyra both laughed inside Kai's head at the same time.
"The final crack is opening," they said. "Now we will take what is ours."
Kai looked up with pain in his eyes.
He whispered to Lira and Mira, "They are getting stronger. I do not know how long I can hold them."
The portal grew larger.Something was coming through.
Something much bigger than Nyxar or Veyra.
Kai felt the last of his control slipping.
He looked at his friends one last time and said weakly, "If I lose, please remember the real me."
The portal flashed brightly.
A new presence began to emerge.
