Chapter 1 - transmigration

The world ended for Su Chen in a flash of white light. One moment he was walking home from his shift, and the next, a heavy truck-kun was screaming toward him. The impact was sudden. There was no pain, only a strange sense of weightlessness before everything faded into a deep, silent black.

When Su Chen opened his eyes, he found himself staring at an ornate wooden ceiling. The wood was dark and polished, carved with patterns of flowing water and soaring cranes.

He tried to sit up and felt a slight ache in his head. Underneath him was a bed made of soft silk and firm bamboo. The room smelled like aged sandalwood and something sweet, like blooming jasmine.

'Where am I?'

Su Chen looked around the spacious room. It looked like a set from an ancient historical drama. There were no light switches or outlets. A low table sat in the corner with a tea set, and several scrolls hung from the walls.

'I died. I definitely died. So, this must be transmigration!'

The thought brought a brief spark of excitement. He had read enough novels to know the drill. New world, new life, and maybe even some incredible powers. But as he looked at the traditional robes draped over a screen, his excitement turned into a cold realization.

'Wait. This is a cultivation world?'

He knew the stories. These worlds were brutal. In a place where people could level mountains with a flick of a finger, life was cheap. If he didn't have a high status or a powerful master, he could be killed just for looking at someone the wrong way.

He stood up, his legs feeling a bit wobbly. He walked over to a bronze mirror that sat on a vanity near the window. When he saw his reflection, he froze.

The man in the mirror was handsome, far more than he had been in his past life. He had a sharp jawline and calm, grey eyes. His hair was the most striking part. It was a brilliant, snowy white. It fell down to his shoulders, but most of it was pulled back into a neat, professional bun.

'At least I look the part.'

Su Chen paced the room, trying to process his memories. Before he could get far, the heavy wooden door pushed open.

A young woman stepped into the room. She was undeniably beautiful with a face that looked like it was carved from jade. Her skin was fair, and her eyes were large and watery, giving her a very cute and innocent expression.

However, her outfit told a different story. Her light blue robes were tied tightly at her waist, accentuating a very slender frame. She had very large boobs and a wide, curvy ass that seemed almost out of place with her sweet face. She looked like a perfect mix of a cute doll and a mature woman.

She spotted Su Chen standing by the mirror and her expression brightened instantly. Her eyes locked onto his with an intensity that made his skin crawl.

"Step-brother, you're finally awake! You had me so worried."

Su Chen stayed still as she approached. She smelled like heavy incense and flowers. She reached out, her fingers brushing against his white hair before resting on his cheek. Her smile was wide, but it didn't quite reach her eyes, which looked a bit too shiny.

"You were asleep for so long. I thought you were trying to leave me behind again. But you wouldn't do that, right? Step-bro, you already know what happens when you try to hide from me."

Su Chen felt a drop of sweat roll down his neck. This wasn't the warm welcome he was hoping for.

'Of all the things to happen, I'm stuck with a yandere?'
