Chapter 7 - Abandoned House – Chapter 7: The Hidden Truth

Rehan and Ajay were the only ones who knew the truth about Sami, and that truth had become a heavy burden they could no longer ignore. The situation had gone far beyond their control, yet they held on to one belief with unwavering determination—Sami was not truly evil. He had changed, yes, but he hadn't always been this way. Something had happened to him, something unnatural, something they didn't fully understand. And because of that, they refused to let the villagers take his life. They knew the people of the village; fear ruled them now, and fear would only lead to violence. If Sami's condition was exposed, there would be no questions, no attempts to understand—only a brutal end. That was something Rehan and Ajay could not allow.

To protect him, they turned his own house into a prison. Sami stayed confined to the top floor of the old structure, a house that stood slightly elevated from the ground, built in a way that made access difficult. There was no proper entry from the ground floor anymore; instead, there remained only a small external opening, a narrow space that had once been left for ventilation or storage. Rehan and Ajay had sealed every window, every door, every possible exit. The house felt lifeless from the outside, abandoned like it had always been rumored to be. Only they knew the truth hidden within its walls.

Their method of keeping Sami under control was as dangerous as it was desperate. Each day, they brought raw chicken and other meat, preparing it in advance so they wouldn't have to stay near him for long. Using a long wooden stick, they would push the food through the small opening, careful not to step too close. They had learned quickly that distance was their only protection. Sami, in his altered state, responded to hunger more than anything else. When fed, he became calmer, quieter, almost as if a part of his old self resurfaced for a brief moment. After eating, he would retreat into silence, disappearing back into the shadows of the upper floor.

For a few days, this fragile system worked. It gave them hope—false hope, perhaps, but enough to keep them going. Rehan often found himself watching the house from a distance, wondering if Sami could hear him, if he understood what they were doing for him. Ajay, on the other hand, focused on the practical side of things. He knew the risks. If they failed to provide enough food, if Sami's hunger grew beyond control, there would be consequences. And those consequences wouldn't just affect strangers—they would affect them too. Sami, in that state, did not recognize friendship. Instinct had taken over, and instinct could not be reasoned with.

Meanwhile, the village was changing. Fear had begun to spread like a disease, infecting every conversation, every glance, every decision. People whispered about strange occurrences, about unexplained deaths, about something lurking in the shadows. It didn't take long before a group formed—a group determined to find and eliminate whatever was responsible. They carried makeshift weapons, torches, and a growing sense of anger. To them, this was not just about survival anymore; it was about revenge.

Ajay realized that simply hiding Sami wouldn't be enough. The group would keep searching, and eventually, they would find something. That's when he made a decision that even Rehan found difficult to accept. He would join the group.

When Ajay first said it, Rehan thought he had lost his mind. Joining the very people who would kill Sami seemed like a betrayal. But Ajay explained his reasoning calmly. If he was part of the group, he could control their movements, mislead them, and keep them away from Sami's location. It was risky, but it was also their best chance. After a long argument, Rehan reluctantly agreed. From that moment on, they took on separate roles—Rehan would stay behind and manage Sami, while Ajay would walk among the villagers, pretending to be one of them.

For a while, their plan worked perfectly. Ajay guided the group in different directions, suggesting areas far from the abandoned house. He played his role well, blending in with the fear and anger of the others. Rehan continued feeding Sami, maintaining the fragile balance that kept everything from falling apart. Days passed, and for the first time, it felt like they might actually succeed.

But peace never lasts in a place filled with secrets.

One day, the leader of the group began to act differently. He was a man no one knew much about, someone who had appeared almost suddenly and taken control without resistance. There was something unsettling about him, something that didn't quite fit. His eyes carried a strange intensity, and his words had a way of silencing others instantly. That day, he didn't mention Sami or accuse anyone directly. Instead, he simply pointed in a direction and said they needed to search there.

Ajay's heart nearly stopped.

That direction led straight to Sami's house.

As the group moved forward, every step felt heavier than the last. Ajay tried to distract them, suggesting alternate paths, but the leader ignored him. It was as if he already knew where he was going. Panic built inside Ajay, but he had no choice except to follow. If he acted too suspiciously, he would expose himself.

When they finally reached the area, everything went silent.

The abandoned house stood there, just as it always had—still, empty, lifeless. No movement. No sound. No sign of anything unusual. The group searched briefly, but found nothing. Eventually, they moved on.

Ajay let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding.

From a distance, hidden from sight, Rehan watched carefully. When their eyes met for a brief moment, Rehan gave a small signal. Everything was still under control.

Or so they thought.

The very next day, the situation took a darker turn. News spread quickly through the village about a young girl who had suddenly fallen ill. She was vomiting uncontrollably, her body weak, her condition worsening by the hour. People gathered around her house, confused and frightened. No one understood what was happening.

But Rehan did.

The moment he heard about the symptoms, his face changed. He had experienced something similar before. Ajay noticed it too, and the realization hit them both at the same time. These were not ordinary signs of illness.

But how was it possible?

Sami had not left the house. Rehan was certain of it.

Which meant only one thing.

There was something else.

Something they had not accounted for.

That night, the truth finally revealed itself—but not in the way they expected. The leader of the group, the same man who had guided the villagers, was not what he appeared to be. Away from the crowd, hidden in darkness, his true nature emerged. He was not human. His movements, his presence, everything about him changed into something far more terrifying.

And instead of helping the sick girl, he killed her.

Cold. Silent. Without hesitation.

In that moment, everything became clear. The deaths in the village, the fear, the confusion—it was never Sami. Sami had only attacked animals, driven by instinct and hunger. The real danger, the real monster, had been hiding among them all along.

This creature had been manipulating the villagers, using their fear as a tool. It had created the group, fueled their anger, and directed their search—all for one purpose.

To find Sami.

But why?

That question remained unanswered.

As Rehan and Ajay stood on the edge of this horrifying truth, they realized something even more terrifying—Sami was no longer the biggest threat.

Something far worse was coming.

And it was already closer than they thought.

In next chapter there will be a big fight scene + reveal why Sami changed + origin of creature 🔥so stay connected....
